Originally posted by kai22One question though: Pluto and Charon seem to be obiting around something, but what?

Charon, Pluto's largest moon, is so big compared to Pluto itself, that the two bodies orbit around a point that exists above Pluto's surface.

Reply to posts from Gorman91 and Nataylor,

Wow, thanks for the response/info. I'd never seen this with planets before

Guess I don't know as much as I'd like to think

Yea, if you noticed, pluto has 3 moons. Pretty intense.

Coolest part? A man with a fire extinguisher could literally "swim" to any part of the whole system. If you were on Pluto and jumped up, you could gently go to Charon, or the two moons. Pluto would be a primary candidate to experiment with gravity and warp drives for this reason.

Thanks!

S & F!

What a great find, thanks for sharing!

If only we as a race could focus more on space exploration (heck, and even exploring our own Earth too) we'd have something to live for. Then again, I don't know if I'd want the "elite" and scum of humanity spreading their influence around the Universe...

But for those of us who are peaceful, decent human beings who would love to visit far off worlds, I wish this generation had the chance...

I dream big...

Thanks again

Nothing to do with any kind of conspiracy...just thought it was cute. Ah the joys of matrixing.

It's hard to fathom just how large the solar system is, probably even harder on a computer.

Which brings me to solar system scale models, such as the one in Sweden, it's on a 1:20 million scale.

There's actually quite a few around the world.

I love when I am able to share things from ATS with others and no one laughs. S&F for no laughing.

I see Falcor(?). There's a similar face in eagle nebula, striking but not as cute...
