Greenville(SC) Police Department officials said family asked for officers to take a man into custody for an involuntary psychiatric commitment Monday
afternoon.
When officers arrived, there was an altercation between two of the officers and the man, police said.

The man, Andrew Torres, 39 resisted after officers approached him while at his family's house. 2 officers tased the man at least 6 times. The victim
had a form of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
The family had for years used the National Alliance On Mental Illness in Greenville for help which ironically was meeting just down the street. It's
unclear if police knew Torres' support group was that close.
The story doesn't say how many officers were there, but at least 2 of them tased Torres at least 6 times. 6 times with superior numbers just seems
very excessive.
Just another case of another person, this one who hadn't even committed a crime dying after being tasered.
