Solar eruption: Second wave due tonight

Solar eruption: Second wave due tonight
Charged particles from Sunday's solar flare swept over the Earth last night, triggering colorful displays of the "Northern Lights" across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Norway and other locations across northern latitudes as the blast encountered the Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field.

Stunning. I was hoping someone would capture last nights light show and upload

I was hoping to see something but the clouds were out with a vengeance so no chance there then!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this.

Last night I was looking at the sky hopeing I would see something.

The only thing I saw was a small bright moon. My altitude is 400 ft I didn't really think I would see something but you never know.

I bet it was beauiful to see, I wish I was able to see it.

I wish I could go back in time and become a Astronomer.

Here's a thread. It's a increadible video of the universe and stars

Hey YourPopRock, how have you been? Great photos and I am hoping that we get some here in Michigan tonight. We are Mostly Cloudy here from about 10 pm on, plus a chance of showers, so I think the show here might not be too big, if at all. Good to see you around again, cheers.

We are expecting round 2 tonight!

I hope that the clouds hold out enough, I will get some of my own pictures posted if I can so everyone can see what I get to see!

Anyone know how far south in the US they have ever been seen? Seems like I've heard rare instances of them being seen pretty far south, but never how far.

Man I was so stoked to watch the lights last night and just as it got dark the clouds rolled in. Being at 58 degrees latitude I've seen the Aurora many times but this one has been so hyped up I'm anxious to see what the buzz is about,

There's a tradition up here that when the lights are out if you whistle at them they will dance for you. It's funny, you can go outside and hear your neighbors whistling. It's contagious so of course we join in. Sometimes the lights are active and moving around flashing different colors. Other times theres just a green curtain hanging in the sky. The most amizing display I've ever seen there was a red tube almost like a vortex directly above our house and you could see the stars through the middle of the tube. Surreal.

Just like last night it's clear right now. My fingers are crossed that it holds for a couple more hours.

Clouds are still in the minneapolis area but will be rolling out shortly...

I will go back out when they are gone.

Has anyone else had any success they would like to talk about yet?
