Iran Claims to Have Long-Range S-300 Surface-to-Air Missiles

Iran has obtained four S-300 surface-to-air missile systems despite Russia's refusal to deliver them to Tehran under a valid contract, a semiofficial Iranian news agency claimed Wednesday.

The Fars news agency, which has ties to Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard, Iran's most powerful military force, said Iran received two S-300s from Belarus and two others from another unspecified source.

Fars didn't elaborate, and there was no official confirmation of the report.

Either this is bogus or this is real, and since the Israeli Air Force is willing to take out a few Iranian nuke facilities prior to the creation of a nuke, their fighter-bombers will be in big trouble.

The Israelis sure need training, luck, and God on their side if they want to accomplish their mission, with or without any U.S. aid.

If the S-300 (SA-20B Gargoyle) SAM batteries have made their way into Iranian hands, then their air defense network has been given a big boxing glove.

I reckon it's real, the S300 has been exported to some pretty poor countries it was obvious, as I said in a previous thread, that 1 or more of them would be approached by cash rich energy exporting Iran, tbh I thought it would be Vietnam or Laos that sold Iran the pre owned kit, may be 1 of them was the other country.

Good news for the defenders none the less, now let's hope that my other thoughts about Iran re engineering some east bloc artillery nukes into missile warheads is also correct. I'd love to see belligerent Bini's face when they get some back.

The problem is, once they use them, their as good as gone. Undoubtably, these will raise the cost ($) of any attack but they will not deter it.

This is dire news for the whole world........True or not it increases the chances of the first stike being nukes.Not a good prospect.
The initial attacks would be probably stealth bombers and a rain of cruise missles on every major facility it would be possible to hit.
The destruction would have to be overwhelming and continuous for such an attack to succeed .The manned aircraft following up would be tasked with the precision bombing of the nuclear sites more likely.....We have a very large selection of tactical nukes too.....
