All that fructose sugar peddled by Big Food in your drinks has finally been revealed to be very dangerous.

Big Food says sugar is just sugar.

The powerful and very dangerous food lobby which bribes congress via political donations and thus controls American people food claims sugar is just sugar.

"Glucose is the same as fructose".

Ask a chemist.

Pancreatic tumor cells use fructose to divide and proliferate, U.S. researchers said on Monday in a study that challenges the common wisdom that all sugars are the same.

Big Food says sugar is sugar.

Americans take in large amounts of fructose, mainly in high fructose corn syrup, a mix of fructose and glucose that is used in soft drinks, bread and a range of other foods.

"These findings show that cancer cells can readily metabolize fructose to increase proliferation," Dr. Anthony Heaney of UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center and colleagues wrote.

Big Food says sugar is just sugar.

Here is the research:-

Question is what are YOU going to do about it and are YOU going to be contacting your Senator or go back to your mind numbing habit of watching the Fox News or the X-Factor or Americas Next Top Model?

Big Food says sugar is just sugar.

Now the team hopes to develop a drug that might stop tumor cells from making use of fructose BECAUSE CONGRESS IS TOO CORRUPT TO RESTRICT THE AMOUNT OF CHEAP FRUCTOSE BEING PUT INTO FOOD
SO THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE MORE MONEY BY INVENTING A DRUG...

How retarded is that?

America is no less corrupt then Nigeria.

I'll tell you what I'm NOT going to do...ask the government to save me from high fructose corn syrup, but instead just refrain from buying all products containing it.

Fructose (also levulose or laevulose)[1] is a simple monosaccharide found in many foods and is one of the three important dietary monosaccharides along with glucose and galactose. The organic fructose molecule was first discovered by Augustin-Pierre Dubrunfaut in 1847.[2] Fructose is a white solid that dissolves in water – it is the most water-soluble of all the sugars.[3] Honey, tree fruits, berries, melons, and some root vegetables contain significant amounts of molecular fructose, usually in combination with glucose, stored in the form of sucrose. About 240,000 tonnes of crystalline fructose are produced annually.[4]

So I can't eat honey anymore? Is this the same thing the article is talking about? I thought you were talking artificial sugars at first, and I was going to say that's no surprise, I read that in like a 10 year old book...

Sugar by itself is not the problem. It is the amount and constant intake of it. Eating fruits is healthy, since you get everything else also besides the fructose in you. You could not easily eat an amount that would start to be unhealthy.

Fruit juice and products sweetened with HFCS are the poisons. If you mainly drink fruit juice/lemonade you are bound to get hugely too much of fructose just from that. I lost 10kg (10%) of my weight just by shifting from drinking juice to drinking milk&carbonated water.

So now fruit causes cancer?

Fructose is NOT the same as glucose. While the chemical formula is the same, it's structure is different. Orientation of atoms in a molecule plays a big part in it's chemical properties.

What a joke. What's next? Fibre?

I am a diabetic so I have done some looking into the subject.
I think you are referring to processed sugars from fruc, suc, Etc.
The real killer is HFCS in this you get a double whammy from both directions and what the body intakes can only be half processed.
What am I going to do?
I already have, I let my wife know that HFCS is the same thing to me as arsenic is to her and if she brought that garbage in the house I will consume all of it.
It took a few demonstrations on my part and I will not say I didn't enjoy eating the garbage but got quite sick fairly after.
I left the decision up to my wife as without her life is kind of blah and I'm fairly old and past my breeding usefulness so i don't fear death.
It is funny though my wife started worrying that the things that I told her were true.
She started looking at packaging and now anything with HFCS is not allowed in the house.
And thank you I have an idea for a new thread.

Why anybody would claim that glucose is the same as fructose is beyond me. There's one fundamental difference between the two.

Glucose can be metabolized by every cell in the body.

Fructose can ONLY be metabolized in the liver.

What am I going to do? Nothing. American idol, then dancing with the stars. Plus, I've got some doritos and beer in the fridge. Western freedom...don't hate.

I don't mean to diminish the significance of this find, but I think it's worth noting that "high-fructose" corn syrup isn't JUST fructose. It's a combination of glucose and fructose which has a disproportionate amount of fructose.

So sucrose, or table sugar, also has both glucose AND fructose in it, just in different amounts.

That said, this finding sure does seem to indicate it would be better to use "low-fructose" sugars.

Well, if I get cancer, I'll stop ingesting high fructose corn syrup, but until then quite frankly I'm not too worried about it. The study's findings don't trouble me at all and I don't understand why it troubles other people that don't have cancer. The study doesn't say fructose increases your likelihood of getting cancer.

But certainly if you have cancer, or are at high risk of getting cancer, it's something to be aware of. The main reason I limit my sugar or fructose intake is to control my weight, not to avoid getting cancer.

It's getting to the stage now where you cannot eat anything that is in any way processed.

Basically we all have to eat and drink fresh produce to be safe, and even then we have to ensure that it is pesticide free!

I am quite surprised by the fructose finding, since it is found in many fruits (fructose is loosely called 'fruit sugar' by some dieticians.

In fruit, however, fructose is usually combined with glucose to form sucrose.

So what do we do now? Do we have to srutinise the label on every food item we buy? Yes, I think we do.
