Which countries other than Afghanistan treat women terribly?

I hate it when people answer "USA" to this type of question, out of purely political reasons. If you think women are treated so badly here, go to the middle east where they are openly stoned to death for being raped.

on another note i'v noticed that this liberating opressd women thing has been touted quite a bit as one of the reasons were in afganistan.... silly me i thought it was to capture bin laden !

An Indian friend told me that in Tibet the men do no work. The women do everything. He was debating me against a free Tibet ,thinking China would even the labor load. He may have been misinformed.

To answer your title and question , I would say every country that has males . Featherserpent did a excellent post on how women are being treated . Well worth the read .

Men all over the world have realized that treating women nicely does not ensure their happiness. We have all seen women who prefer to stay with a man who beats her than one who does not. It seems women have an innate desire to be subjugated. Feminists are among the most depressed women in the world. Let the insults fly, girls.

The way the media report things, the impression is given that ALL Muslim males treat women the same way. They're Muslim, the Taliban are Muslim, therefore....guilt by association.

Thing is, in many Western "Christian" countries, the figures for crimes of violence, rape, trafficking for sex work etc, commited against women are also very high. The instances of Pedophilia by Christian clergy, Rabbis and other flavours of religious nutjobs is shocking too, but doesn't get anything like the media coverage of some turbaned brown whacko abusing his wife or daughter.

Maybe it's just an inconvenient truth that they'd rather ignore in some sick "holier than thou" game of oneupmanship?
