With nearly 30,000 flight hours under his belt, Jim Courant’s qualifications as a major passenger airline captain are solid. So is his conviction that the UFO phenomenon is real. "I got the proof that I was after,” Courant says. “That’s the part I won’t discuss. But obviously something has kept me in this, taking the chances I’ve taken.”

So very many people have spoken out by now, its prtty obvious that the goverments are covering up .
The shame of it all is the destruction of peoples lives for speaking the truth. These so called "whistleblowers" are the heroes of tomorrows history.
Unless we the people stand together, we will live in ignorance forever.
We will be thankfull for people like this someday.

At OMNI magazine in the 1990's we had a high-level project to locate and document such victims. We couldn't find a single story that had any legs.

Can you suggest some -- and tell me by whom it's already been researched?

Third post and already you've deflected the thread. Why not discuss Jim Courant and the OP?

I do think that when experienced people like this come out with their own perceptions and views on UFOs it then makes it so much more credible.Like in any subject when you get people of a learned and experienced back ground giving credibly and credence to a subject it has to be taken into account. To me the UFO enigma should be no different that their backgrounds and experience are far more noticeable than say a member of the public who reports a UFO.

It would certainly be a good excuse in implementing Martial Law. The flush you hear is our civil and personal rights going down the tubes.

What's to discuss? He said he won't say exactly what his proof is, or where he got it. As far as anybody knows, he's just somebody who reads a lot of the junk on this site and that's enough to convince him.

In the UFO field, you gotta put up or shut up.

yep.
people of high importance can say they saw a ufo (which may very well be the truth) and get their lives and carrers screwed up because of it.
Ex president bush tells a load of crap about WMDs and gets away with it.
its unfair.

Of course UFO's are real.

A UFO is an unidentified flying object.

If you are sitting in your backyard next door to me, and I throw a rock over your yard and you see it but didn't really get a chance to notice what it was, it would by definition be a UFO.

So OBVIOUSLY "UFO's" are "real."

technically not.
a thrown rock isn't a flying rock but i get your point.

I have a blue dinosaur in my backyard.

Although, I will not discussit, nor show proof of its existance.

But you shall believe me, since I am an ATS member.

Hello UFOmaster,

In my opinion, Jim Courant isn't out there telling his story for the allmighty buck. He is credible, an experienced pilot, and he did put his career at risk for speaking out.

He reminds me of Captain Terauchi who also had an amazing encounter over Alaska in 1986. He also put his career at risk for speaking out.

Here is a link to Japan Air Lines Flight 1628:

JAL 1628 is a favorite of mine. You might want to have a look.

Good title, fascinating stories !

Definition of 'flying' from dictionary.com:

making flight or passing through the air

Who has this happened to? Can you cite some examples?

I've always felt pilots of all kinds were some of the most credible witnesses. Most of them have a high code of ethics and put a lot more on the line than most people by coming forward with their experiences.

Capt Terauchi of JAL1628 lost his job for apparently telling what he saw, and Dr. Haines takes credit for helping him get his job back...the way Haines tells the story you get the impression Terauchi woldn't have flown again if he hadn't intervened.

Google Video Link

The case starts just before 27 minutes and Haines' explanation about Terauchi losing his flying privileges is at 31:30

"Because of his report, he was evaluated by the medical board of Japan Airlines and he was asked to terminate his flying duties".

=====================

Regarding the OP so little thought was put into the thread it's almost not worth replying to, and if Jim Courant can't tell us what his evidence is, there's not much to discuss.

pretty much all the astronauts that came out and spoke their beliefs
did they make themselves look like fools, are is the way they are reported meant to make them look that way?

Pretty much all?

Can you cite specific examples, documented examples, of astronauts being made to look like fools for reporting UFO sightings?
