Believe me; BET and MTV

Can't leave rap alone, the game needs me
'til we grow beards, get weird and disappear
into the mountains - nothin but clowns down here
But we, ain't #in around round here

The more i start writing and rapping, the better i get at creating metaphors, and the better i get at figuring out other rappers metaphors.

I can't help but notice how many rappers talk about 2012 without anyone ever knowing.

what makes you think there is no artist that hasn't fallen victim to the " industry"? There are hundreds of them out there.. its considered to be "underground". There is no "main stream" artist that hasn't gotten sucked in and sold out. Thats the price of big time fame and radio play. However the true artists, the ones that do it for the love of the music and not for the money , are unaffected by whats popular and what the industry wants them to sing about. your only looking at what MTV and the radio plays. there's alot more to the music world than what we see and hear on the radio and tv. Think of mtv and the radio like fox news, they push there agendas on ppl and if they don't agree with it it don't exist in there world.

What the real conspiracy is, how are good threads going to BTS, and a guy can see a connection between Captain Crunch and 2012, not to mention I heard nothing of Crunch Berries (which I think can be the true culprits), and it still be here?

Stop blocking my research with all this mind blowing information. Now I have to back track and rethink everything I ever learned. But on the other hand I do eat Capt Crunch, so maybe I'm closer than I thought.

On a serious note a guy trying to make people fell stupid by not connecting the cereal/2012/conspiracy is ridiculous and an insult to both researchers and true music fans alike. (and cereal fans).

Thank you.

Look dude, we all know you're a true emcee and all, but it's condescending the way you're telling everyone that they won't get it, and that they don't know anything about HipHop. So you write raps. Big deal. My 3 year old nephew rhymed Mom and Bomb the other day.

But seriously, the song Business has nothing to do with 2012. He mentions Chandra Levy, Batman & Robin, Elton John and fired a shot at Insane Clown Posse and somehow you managed to deciphere it as 2012 rhetoric.

The title of the thread implies he's been doing it for "years". Where's the other proof? This is one song of hundreds he's released. Your title makes it seem like he's made a conscious effort to discuss it for, well...years. Where's more proof?

This thread is wack, son. No offense.

HipHop is dying dude not transforming. What you consider transforming already has a name R&B/Pop.

Real HipHop is dying. Read interviews - Eminem, JayZ, Nas, KRS-1, Raekwon. HipHop is a dying game. Only a few new artists are truly "HipHop artists". The MC is pretty much gone.

I am sorry, but I do not want to play the age card here. This guy is obviously young and lacks knowledge. First off he calls it Raps. Anyone who actually pays attention to the game knows this is not the term used.

I am done coming back to this topic. All I can say is.

"This topic Cmon'Son!"

The OP's example isn't as good as the one I found. It's good though, and I think you interpreted it correctly.

The first line of "I love the way you lie" by Eminem and Rihanna goes:
"I can't tell you what it really is, I can only tell you what it feels like."
Taken in context with some of the stuff said in the song, and it gets a little eery.

Then there's some stuff in Eminem's collaborations with Lil Wayne.

Side note: Lil Wayne's music has gotten extremely esoteric lately(It started in 2010 slightly, but this year he's went all out, e.g. mentioning third eye, mirrors, saying he can see the future), I've been following him since before he got big. I made a thread about it. It should be around here somewhere...

While he may or may not be singing about 2012, I agree with the other posters whom said it is just sales motivated. Alot of songs are about what is currently happening. That is what resonates with people and makes them feel something, which in turn makes them buy, buy buy.

Remember... "Party like its nineteen ninety nine..." ?

Interestingly, NASA tells us the asteriod YU55 is to give us a fly by on 8th November.
neo.jpl.nasa.gov...

Good Vibes to ALL

Personally I didn't see the connection from the lyrics you posted. I do give Eminem some credit for being able to make it so big (and being the 2nd Elvis) but I can't see him singing about 2012.

If you want a song about 2012 (among other things), its Aenima by Tool. This was from 1996:

Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dip#s.

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will cuz
I sure could use a vacation from this

Silly #, stupid #...

One great big festering neon distraction,
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim.

Mom's gonna fix it all soon.
Mom's comin' round to put it back the way it ought to be.

....

Cuz I'm praying for rain
And I'm praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way.
I wanna watch it all go down.
Mom please flush it all away.
I wanna watch it go right in and down.
I wanna watch it go right in.
Watch you flush it all away.

Time to bring it down again.
Don't just call me pessimist.
Try and read between the lines.

I can't imagine why you wouldn't
Welcome any change, my friend.

I wanna see it all come down.
suck it down.
flush it down.

This should be the theme song for the 2012 forum

So when Eminem rapped about pistol whipping a member of ICP's crew when he saw his ex-wife talking to him, that was about 2012?

Spooky.

Those lyrics you posted had nothing to do with 2012.

All I saw was that he feels essential to the rap industry, that Shandra's last name is Levy, that # is easy, that ppl will grow beards and get weird.

What does Shandra Levy and facial hair and rap music have to do with the fad that is 2012?

- I fail to see how this has anything to do with 2012. I've been listening to Eminem and D12 since 2002/03 (before he started doing the pop and #ty beats he's been doing lately) and haven't noticed anything that u claim. Please explain.
