The more i start writing and rapping, the better i get at creating metaphors, and the better i get at figuring out other rappers metaphors.

I can't help but notice how many rappers talk about 2012 without anyone ever knowing.

here is a line from his song "Buisness"

Jesus how can # be so easy?
How can one Chandra be so Levy?
Turn on these beats, MC's don't see me
Believe me; BET and MTV
are gonna grieve when we leave dog, fo' sheezy
Can't leave rap alone, the game needs me
'til we grow beards, get weird and disappear
into the mountains - nothin but clowns down here
But we, ain't #in around round here

Other people like JAYzs umbrella is all about 2012, and his blueprint 3, wow lets not even get started

I'll be dodging raingdrops, meaing imma vacate, chilling on that big yot (Noah's boat...)

people you gotta start listening, i know songs from 8 years ago that talk about 2012, every single song you hear right now, that is recent mainstreem music, has 2012 metaphors in them. you guys just need to learn 1+1

Looks to me like you are very loosely interpreting those lyrics to be about 2012.

Plus, so what if they are?

There are lot's of pseudoscientists and new agers screaming about 2012 and you think a few rap artists that MIGHT have made a reference to 2012 lends credence to the idea?

Just because an idea becomes popular doesn't mean it's right. People used to think the Earth was flat too, it was a pretty popular idea. People used to think the world would end in the year 2000, it was a pretty popular idea, probably got mentioned in some song lyrics as well.

Popularity of an idea - No bearing on whether or not its true.

Mention of idea in lyrics of songs - No bearing on whether or not its true.

lol, are you serious? Saying Jay Z uses Illuminati symbols in his videos or something to that effect is one thing, but in no way do the lyrics you posted have anything to do with 2012.

then all his metaphors would be pointless to their orignial meanings..

"
I dont know if i can think anymore

My heads to swallon from hitting her backdoor
"

sex metaphor, yet, someone who can't do 1+1 wont get that

We all have our meanings, but you cannot think that everyone will think that Eminem's songs have some sort of meaning, what is going on? This is the second thread about Eminem... Am I in the twilight zone?

we all have our meanings? great, sure, have your own meaning.

But when a artist originaly came up with his line, it had one meaning and one meaning only.

Dont treat these butter fingers when the keep on droping sour keys

Caption Crunch these smarties, cause they ant the same as nerds like me

2012 metaphor, writen only using treats, and then caption crunch for god, because he eats these sugar coated rappers for breakfest.

and this is what it is because i wrote it.

Only a select few people would know i'm talking about 2012, asking god to save me, but meh.

Is it the meaning of the label that he works for? Our perception of "artists" are different these days, lets look at the actual meaning and actions of such individuals who "KNOW" whats going on....

Do you know of "OF ANY ARTIST that make a difference about the subjects they bring to life?

Ill wait.......

no they are all greedy.

if you actually listened to rap thats a dumb question

all jayz talks about in his new CD is that he no longer runs rap, he runs the map.

Well then Ill take that as a NO. There is not current or past artist that has not fallen victim to the music industry, and unless you know for a fact then I think that it is irrelevant.

Money, fame, chick (dudes), we don't know and the mystery keeps us listening,

People were talking about 2012 30 years ago...It was all over TV, media, music, comics, sci-fi books, movies, etc.

I think you need to stop listening to entertainers and find real leaders before its too late.

That stuff will rot your mind.

It's a good thing you're here to tell us. I don't know what we would do without you here to explain things so that our feeble minds could understand.

Maybe you'd be taken more seriously if your thread had a point (who gives a rat's ass if a rapper is talking about 2012?) and stopped asserting your supremacy over others' intelligence while managing to misspell every other word.

Incubus Science album a little more clear. "we'll be sticking around till 2012 ad. What are you waiting for? A certain shade of green?"

It shrieks of desperation when people resort to music lyrics to try and show that there is merit to an idea. Fads are just that - fads. 2012 is just a fad. It has no merit whatsoever.

Metal bands have been talking more specifically about stuff like that for a longer time.

DevilDriver - The Fury Of Our Maker's Hand

I'm just a human being
a mistake made of feelings
with a soul, wrapped in chains
so fragile, full of pain
no one knows why we are here
giving laughter and so many tears
I will just do my best
to keep my head up above the rest

no one really knows
Which way the wind blows

One day the tides will turn
One day the fields will burn
one day the seas will churn
the fury of our makers hand

Man is a mistake cast out
shunned and cast down
giving life through breath of gods
with itself always at odds
the pious the preacher
the liar, the creature
from rock to fire
the dust of man
O my maker
I need a savior

One day the tides will turn
One day the fields will burn
One day the seas will churn
the fury of our makers hand
the fury, the fury
what will you do?

Who knows really though what they're interpreting Gods, and events with their lyrics.

DevilDriver - Horn Of Betrayal

What the # do you want from me?
It's so damn plain to see that you're not grateful

Silence takes courage

No scars, no truth but the wounds tell the story
Of what will be done for honor and glory

Silence is deafening

Does the end justify the means?
In all honesty, how do you sleep?

Silence takes courage

The horn of betrayal
Sounds loudly for the fallen
While mine eyes are worlds away

Watch cowards as they bend the knee
Scratch a liar
Find a thief
Inside is where the demon dwells
So I bite my tongue and when it comes to you

Silence takes courage

Your heart needs amputation
Crying the get-lost-blues-

*SNIP* YOU!

Silence is deafening

The horn of betrayal
Sounds loudly for the fallen
While mine eyes are worlds away

Watch cowards as they bend the knee
Scratch a liar
Find a thief

Through the lies and the blasphemy-
You are #ing dead to me
You - are - dead - to - me

(Interlude)

This de los muerte, this day of the dead
It turns for me-celebration instead
Skull and Bones, walking away from the throne-
To seek another kingdom
Another kingdom
Another kingdom
Another kingdom

YEAHHHHHHHHH

Your selfless-heart
Your selfless-waves of sorrow washed over me
Your selfless-like a sea of new memories

Is he talking about a certain 'sercret' society? I think he is but who knows.

That said, I'm a huge music fan.

ah to be young.... Listen, if they've all been talking about 2012, let's hope they'll disappear when it's over. Believe it or not, one day those cd's are going to be of no value to you. Or anyone else. Start using your mind while you are young.
