UAE 'moves to suspend some Blackberry services'

www.bbc.co.uk

The United Arab Emirates is to suspend some Blackberry mobile services from October, the state news agency reports.

The move comes amid UAE concerns that data from the devices is immediately exported offshore and managed by a foreign organisation.

The UAE's telecoms regulator, TRA, said last week the devices could therefore pose a threat to national security.

It follows an alleged attempt last year by the state-run telecoms company to install spyware on Blackberry handsets

Great! Only just got one in my new job, just getting to grips with it and now the UAE are going to kick it into touch! (Oh well.....back to my Nokia E72, which is a better phone anyway, in my opinion.)

Trouble is over here, they have a very cack-handed way of doing things - they tried to install Spyware last year, and failed when everyone's Blackberry started overheating and batteries failing, so now they have to come out up front and deny servcies until RIM decide to play ball. That's how it is here....you get used to it!

Attention Mod!

When i first posted the story, the headline was correct. The BBC website have updated the same story (hence same web address), to take into account that Saudi Arabia are also taking action against the Blackberry, and also changed the headline.

So in the words of Shaggy....."It wasn't me".

I'd love to see the responses if you were talking about that happening to you in the US, They tried to spy on me, but I'm getting used to it, I love it!
