Swearing on the Bible in court.

Something has been bothering me for a while now.
Mind you, I've never had to go to court, and don't know how all the processes work, and I'm not in trouble or anything, this is just a question that's been bugging me. (This is for my fellow U.S. citizens.)
Okay, question: Is swearing on the Bible in court a violation of separation of church and state?
I mean, if you refuse to swear on the Bible, wouldn't that effect the jury's decision?
I dunno, can anyone explain this?

You don't swear on the bible in court. That is just in the movies.

Okay I didn't know that. It's always good to search for answers, no matter how crazy they may be. Denying ignorance. =)

In some cases they throw the book at you, now what book that is I couldn't tell you :bash:
