I think this may just be an amazing lens flare and be a big coincidence that the sun shot out a giant ball of plasma.

Coincidences do happen once in a while.

Someone I know told me they had seen this before and got all freaked out until they realized it was just a trick of light.

Okay, let's try this again. It's full of stars (Yep, another movie "2010 The Year We Make Contact"). Lets just say that NASA has been able to track this dwarf star that has the properties of a black hole (but not absorbing light, only reflecting light ). It's only physical evidence would be an anomally of stars showing out of place (virtually invisible to basic telescopes). Let's also take another huge leap of Hollywood and state that it caused a big drag on Neptune a few years back, was seen passing by our sun as a second sun (at certain angles) and most recently made a pass by Venus (for three days of night) finally to drop in on gvood ole earth ala "Pitch Black" (Oopps! another movie). Then let's all take the blue pill go back to sleep and forget any of these events ever happened. Believe whatever you wnat to believe dude. I just think...

This is very wierd.

It "appears" as though Venus had a CME.

But clearly, it couldn't have

The event lasted 3 days, without any other visible effects?

What in heaven is going on?

en.wikipedia.org...

Check out this old scientists claims about Venus, and some other planets.
Velikovsky's ideas:
* "The causes of these natural catastrophes were close encounters between the Earth and other bodies within the solar system — not least what were now the planets Saturn, Jupiter, Venus and Mars, these bodies having moved upon different orbits within human memory."

* "A tentative suggestion that Earth had once been a satellite of a "proto-Saturn" body, before its current solar orbit.

* That the Deluge (Noah's Flood) had been caused by proto-Saturn entering a nova state, and ejecting much of its mass into space.

* A suggestion that the planet Mercury was involved in the Tower of Babel catastrophe.

* Jupiter had been the culprit for the catastrophe which saw the destruction of the "Cities of the Plain" (Sodom and Gomorrah)

* Periodic close contacts with a cometary Venus (which had been ejected from Jupiter) had caused the Exodus events (c.1500 BCE) and Joshua's subsequent "sun standing still" incident.

* Periodic close contacts with Mars had caused havoc in the 8th and 7th centuries BCE."

Poor guy was run out of the scientific community for his out of the box thinking. He started writing books, but he really did believe the planets would go out of their regular orbits sometimes.

edit for clarity (they're not my ideas)

I just had to log in after seeing this post.

A dwarf star with the properties of a black hole except it reflects light and is invisible at the same time?

Brilliant, that's sheer brilliance! It's so far out of the box that I believe it is in the adjacent brane. Don't know what a brane is? Look it up! I'm not going to waste my time educating you.

Thanks for the chuckle though.

I find this very interesting. It seems, from looking at more than one sattelite, that something odd happened. As someone else mentioned, it looked close to a CME...but different.

It looked like something was projected outward, almost like a foreshock, followed by a larger explosion. Perhaps, since we don't really have a clue as to the tectonic activities on Venus it could be possible that they had something happen comparable to our yellowstone Mega erruption, only larger?

My other thought is that at least since it appears to be a side-on view, that I am assuming this energy was not directed at earth?

I am very curious to see what the next few days bring.

Ok I am a bit confused here, is this thread about spacequakes, 2012, Nibiru, Venus becoming a second sun, solar flares or what?

I LOVE Venus and can only hope that this is a natural occuring event.

However I am glad to hear about the metor shower, love those!

www.space.com...

"A volcanic eruption was put forward as a possible explanation to a strange bright spot seen in the atmosphere of Venus last year. Smrekar and several of her colleagues are following up on this event to see if a volcanic eruption from one of these hotspots coincides with the spot and could feasibly explain it. If it does and can, then that link could be even more evidence that Venus' volcanoes are still active."

It makes sense Venus could be just going thru some volcanic flows or eruptions, maybe larger than usual.

This is cool.

Just like Jupiter loosing its stripes.

The planets are waking up.

I spoke to the director of the local planetarium a few minutes ago.

I was there on other business, but I took the time to ask him what had happened on Venus.

He knew what I was talking about, said that info he had received led him to believe that it was caused by a massive volcanic explosion on Venus. He told me that they have many dormant volcanoes on Venus but any volcanic activity is rare there.

Perhaps your thread on spacequakes didn't get many replies simply because there are already several thread on them and the NASA report.
I know the ATS search is pretty worthless but it does return results that are useful sometimes.

So is there any photos of what's going on at ground level? because Venus is a small planet like Earth an if that happened on Earth well it doesn't bare thinking about!
I think there are a lot of stuff coming in from Space at the moment, today on the car radio a woman was saying she saw a fire ball shooting across the sky at around 10pm local time just south of Dublin an then she mentioned that a friend in London saw something similar aswell on Monday! keep watching the sky people theres a lot going on at the moment

So you're saying assume things based on no evidence at all?

There is no such thing as a brown dwarf that has the properties of a black hole, it's ludicrous.

Neptunes mass was wrong, once the calculations were corrected there was no need for a planet X.

It makes absolutely no sense, how does it tug on Neptune back in the 80s and then make a "pass" by Venus? Yet we cannot see or measure ANYTHING of it? We can measure hundreds of trans neptunian objects, yet we can't find this mysterious planet x?

Nothing was going on at ground level because nothing actually happened.
Here are some pictures of Venus taken during the supposed time frame, they are quite normal pictures of Venus and I am sure there is more than just those ones given a bit of digging.
Nothing happened to Venus, it was just a case of lens flare/pixel bloom that happens whenever Venus leaves the feild of view.

Spacequakes

Researchers using NASA's fleet of five THEMIS spacecraft have discovered a form of space weather that packs the punch of an earthquake and plays a key role in sparking bright Northern Lights. They call it "the spacequake."

That is my take as well after viewing the Stereo Ahead and Behind. Lense flare? for 3 days seems illogical to me. Something is messing around with the Planets.

They are called space quakes. Here's a link to an illustration that may help you.

Velikovsky's ideas about planetary systems have long ago been shown to not work. He attempts to manipulate the solar system to match his interpretation of ancient texts. His claims fail on physics.

The eruptions would have to spew material out at escape velocity.
