I'm looking forward to a second installment.
I can't wait to see what the NGC team found in the water-filled caves in the Yucatan Peninsula.

The spotted lake is in the Okanagan valley of British Columbia, is it not?

If so I actually have a place about 20 min from there and am going there in 3 weeks. I didn't know about the apparent abilities of the lake though... I might go try it out

Very cool post, OP. What's more mysterious than the planet we live on and the way the natural world takes on so many shapes and colors? This was also a good opportunity to update my Ignore list, with all the whiners showing up here.

As much as I hate to fill a thread with rubbish...

Wookiep, man, seriously, if you read my post I actually said I thought the pics were lovely. I didn't mention anything about plagiarising.

I think you need to get out more. COK.

We live in world that is more astounding then people can even fathom (just look at all the people who called the Whale vs boat fake). Perhaps you also protest the science threads? if so you totally miss the point of this thread and others like it.

To deny ignorance, you must be armed with knowledge.

-Thank you Op for expanding knowledge

Jess- THANK YOU!! What unusual, beautiful scenery!!
As an (amateur) photographer, I really appreciate this!
Right now, I'm negotiating with the Berringer family, to get permission, to spend a day, walking aroung the crater, taking a 360 degree panographic picture, on 4x5" color film.
Keep-up, the great work!!

Thank you for posting these pics and the descriptions OP. I loved them. That first one with the weird almost mushroom-looking trees reminds me of the flora in Shivering Isles.

Also, this brings to mind the question posed to man by God about whether he has seen everything there is to see on earth:

(Job 38:16, 18) . . .Have you come to the sources of the sea, Or in search of the watery deep have you walked about... Have you intelligently considered the broad spaces of the earth? Tell, if you have come to know it all.

Im really sorry you feel that way and im sorry my thread is bothering you so much. But if my content was really plagiarized, the mods would have deleted this thread already, they are not stupid.

Have a great day Sonic. Try not to lose sleep over it.

"Perhaps one the most striking plants on this island would have to be the Dragons Blood tree, with a shape resembling an umbrella. Its red sap was the "dragons blood" of the ancients who lived there, in which they used as medicine and dye, and today used as paint and varnish. Other endmeic plants on this island would be the huge succulent tree Dorstenia gigas, the cucumber tree Dendrosicyos, and the rare Socotran pomegranate. Bats are the only mammals native to Socotra. There is also a concern that if goats are to ever be introduced to the island, they may eat the already endangered plant life."

The Dragon's Blood tree is astounding. S&F , Op. When I read that part about the goats I couldn't help thinking what the tree climbing goats of the world would do if they were put on the island. Imagine what tree climbing goats would look like up in the branches of the Dragon's Blood trees

I was more refering to the link you quoted. It was used before in an attempt to show the OP was plagiarizing. Nothing personal.
