Sorry if this has already been posted.

Global warming could drive millions more Mexicans into the United States in search of work by 2080 due to diminishing crop yields in Mexico, a study released Monday showed.

"Depending on the warming scenarios used and adaptation levels assumed... climate change is estimated to induce 1.4 to 6.7 million adult Mexicans (or two percent to 10 percent of the current population aged 15-65 years) to emigrate as a result of declines in agricultural productivity alone," the study said.

Erm...by 2080?

Would I be totally out of line to say 1.) I care but I don't care all that much right now and 2.) by 2080 there probably won't be any sovereign countries or borders anyway.

Please don't post to this thread other than to yell at me for not caring enough and to straighten my attitude out. Really just wanted to document this in ATS for posterity...so future generations of ATSers can look back on this and see how accurate this study and how close this prediction was.

That was pretty much my point. But again...for posterity...should any ATS hard-drive backups survive the ruins....

I thought US citizens will flee the US government enslaving them, the fall of Babylon and fleeing the punishement of America for her sins, into Mexico and Canada.

I thought that was the plan too...that's why this sort of threw me for a loop. Some people are already moving TO Mexico. I guess their grand kids and great-grand kids will just move back.

So now they are using Global Warming as a reason to why Illegals will cross our borders?

All I can say is

2080. I think by that time I will be more concerned with changing my own pants.

Mexico NEEDS to take care of their own. Until then, nobody else will be able to help them if they cant even try to help themselves.

They let themselves get into the situation today, just Like the rest of the other nations around the world.

If you dont have control, there is no reason why you should even have it in the first place.

If you cant protect your people from criminal thugs, you dont deserve to be running the country. You let the situation get out of hand, you have to deal with trying to make it right.

decreased crop yields.
Same source as yours...Fourth paragraph...

"In the worst-case scenario would occur if temperatures were to rise by one to three degrees Celsius (1.8 to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit) by 2080, if farming methods had not been adapted to cope with global warming and if higher levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide had not spurred plant growth. This would mean crop yields in Mexico would fall by 39 to 48 percent, the study said."

They better start adapting.

Global Warming- Thats a whole other ballgame. Like I stated in the first sentence(kind of)..I believe that this is just a push for not only global warming, but also illegal citizenship. I am not buying any of it.

2080?

20 - 80 ?????

You know how much chaos and suffering there's gonna be by then?

I sure as heck don't but the subconscious can't stop nagging me.

It's gonna be HELL.

There will be no countries, no societies as we know them, and nobody will give a **** what land your grandparents resided in, or what the color of your skin is.

We're going to be scrounging to survive a diminishing, and desolate earth.

Have fun !!

I know! I am a translator in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, and everyday there are White Americans and undocumented Mexicans asking me for the steps to get their dual citizenship.

I can see more Mexicans emigrating to the US.
but not because of Climate change but because the Mexican government does nothing to improve there country.

When was the last major project in Mexico to provide new water resources or new cropland.

I see the Mexican government forcing the illegals into the US.

you are ether rich government connected in Mexico.(rich due to drugs trade connection or corruption.)
Or your are a poor peon.

The middle class has ties to the US and could leave at anytime if they had to.

This is why the drug cartels have so much power in Mexico.
they supply money to the peons.

I could make billions in Mexico building and operating solar and wind power plants that would also supply large amounts of fresh water for croplands.
Everything needed is there in Mexico but the corruption makes it so no one will invest in the country.

The best thing that could ever happen to Mexico would be the government to fall to the drug cartels and the US (and maybe Canada)would have to invade Mexico to wipe out the cartels.

I think Princeton could have maybe studied something more critical or vital? I'm all for recognizing climate change (I don't care if it's manmade or cyclical or whatever) so we can adapt and prevent damage to humans, wildlife, plant life, and the planet, but this seems a bit...off.

"By 2080" ?

I would say: reverse the last two digits, and you might have a date that is somewhat closer to the actual date of this anticipated "emigration."
