Well well well...some intimidation going on?

None of the five witnesses called to testify will appear at Wednesday’s hearing of the U.S. Coast Guard-Interior Department probe into what caused the Deepwater Horizon oil rig to explode.

U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Hung Nguyen said the panel was notified shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday that four of the five people set to appear, all employees of Transocean, the owner of the rig, said they had changed their minds and would not appear. A fifth employee, Daun Winslow, had already been rescheduled to appear at hearings scheduled for Aug. 23-27 in Houston.

What about the government forces them to testify using subpoenas?

I agree that this might be perceived as people being
threatened or intimidated. But you have to also
realize this:

If they testify AGAINST BP, it only hurts themselves.
They want to go back to work on the rigs. It's
their livelihood. What oil company is gonna hire
them after harming their former employer???

I am not saying they are NOT being threatened.
All I'm saying is, don't view this article with
blinders on.

I guess showing up is optional. Perhaps more should follow the examples of these upstanding pillars of society.

Who knows where it will go. It could escalate. Perhaps they're just being given a chance to do it willingly, but now it's too late and they've established their unwillingness.

How can folks expect so many of us to qualm the conspiracy angles when reports like this keep coming up? Employees of Transocean, hmmm I am guessing a threat or more likely a payoff. I hope this does not become common.
Nice find....

Edit to add: You bring up a good point Boon!

Peace
