You got it backwards. Humanity will always have the ability to commit violent acts against others, but to centralize the violence (a state) is to exponentially make the level of violence worse. Also, it gives people more reasons to be violent that wouldn't exist without a dogmatic system of control.

Agreed, but if there is violence within the people, the systems of control will continue to be used by the most ruthless, onto the rest.

What's more, people who have the tendency to be violent are more inclined to strive for positions of control. This makes the government, itself, a way for bad people to convince good people to commit violent acts.

Yeah, I'm totally in agreement here. I just don't understand why you think the structure of a state would ever cease to exist if humanity didn't first rid the need for violence, and therefore, control, within each individual first.

There seems to be an uncanny similarity between the the medieval Catholic church and the modern United States Government. The medieval church was a governing system, complete with monetary and moral corruption, preying on its believers to fill its coffers for unnecessary projects. It had mandatory tithes, rented lands to its followers, and collected and jailed anyone who didn’t pay.

The church regulated all aspects of life and often ran businesses through its monasteries, such as fabric dying and breweries. Rome, the headquarters of the church—the seat of government—was a financial drain on Europe and its people.

While some may not see the similar patterns because one is a religious institution and the other is a government, it is on the same plane. Regulating every part of an individual’s life is tyranny in any form. The medieval church gave licenses and made privileges out of unalienable rights. Anyone who spoke out against it was labeled a heretic. There was no distinction between heretics. So a person who was voicing an opinion that was in opposition to the church was just as guilty of heresy as the person who was practicing paganism naked in the woods.

In The Washington Post today, several stories and blogs have been published about the top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Many people have already heard about the government disabling 73,000 blogs from Blogetery.com last week. The exact reasons are not clearly identified, though they range from conspiracy theories on internet takeover to copyright infringement crackdowns by Vice President Biden and U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel.

The current situation we are facing in America is not the work of one man or administration. The Patriot Act, signed into law by George W. Bush, was a devastation to our freedoms as Americans.
