Reminds me of a funny thing that happened to me 9 years ago at the hands of one Lisa Ledbetter.

I happened to come across this news story about her.

(2) this was the sixth in a chain of marriages that began in 1981 when she was 16, with subsequent failed ball-and-chain joinings occurring in September 1984, August 1988, April 1989, October 1990, and May 2009.

Her sixth husband?!?!?

First one at 16.

If that is true, it makes me wonder about her mental state.
I'm not sure if I can believe that she understands what marriage is really supposed to be about, after being married 5 times before she turned 26.

i mean OMFG!!! they weren't even married a week!

and it happened here in atlanta....tsk.
i know one thing...and that almost 16rys living here in Atlanta, I've never witnessed a level of women being abused than here. it's like a code of honor to act like an ID10T to the opposite sex. but on the flip side, either thru defense, or offensive, ladies here arent the most pleasant.

i've known a few "damaged" women, dated one and that was a pure disaster at the end. i mean, telling your Bf's, best friends GF, that you will kill her if you think the BF touches her(i give women hugs if we are friends/shoulder massages if they are ranting) doesnt help a relationship.

Maybe they'll come up with a name for this sort of thing....perhaps "Hannibal Lechtor Syndrome" -- You know, for people like psychiatrists who are insane, firefighters who are arsonists, prests/ministers/etc who perform satanic rituals, addiction councellors who also peddle controlled substances, and so on. Extreme hypocrisy in the juxtaposition of profession and action.

Actually, now that I think about it, 180-degree snaps from one extreme position to another are much more common than one might think. People who are attracted to the black-and-white cardboard-cuttout morality of extremes often don't care about the content of their extremism as much as they do about having something that seems "certain" and pure to hold onto. Those who are able to live with ambiguity and gray areas are, in my experience, much more stable. If you go tilting at windmills too enthusiastically, you might in the end find yourself with live flesh on the end of your lance. That's not to say all or even most people who take on bold challenges or fight moral wrongs like domestic violence are hypocrites, of course. But a few always will be.

i love your sig the wisest thing to know is that you know nothing and are free to learn everything

woman are being victomized all over the world and tptb arnt adressing the issue they just make money out of the situation
in my country men are scared of living with a woman as after 2 years with no marrage the woman gets half of everything you own
even if you have no kids

another law makes it easyer for woman to get large benifits if they seperate from the father

there are many more laws in my country that force men into a corner a poke them with a stick

i dont blame the women for this

i blame the politicians whos motive is devide and concour

break up the family unit and make the woman dependant on the state

Thing is she was probably so sensitive to the things she feared(domestic violence/men) that this man had to walk on egg shells around her. I bet in her mind she rationalized killing him as her being a champion for womens rights she was gonna show this man and become a martyr for women that have to put up with men like him. He probably talked back to her. He left because he was afraid of her.

Champions are always hypocrites. That's why. There are extremely rare exceptions to this.

An interesting example is Billy Graham versus Pat Robertson. One is not a hypocrite, the other is.

They both pimp Jesus like a common twenty dollar whore in exchange for worldly fame and fortune. Remember Jesus threw the money changers out of the temple. He did not sell them a franchise.

Ironic is the word mate.

However, she is a murderer, plain and simple.

Her previous career path, doesn't make any difference as far as i'm concerned, just makes for a bit of irony.

Hope she get's what she deserves, the husband is never coming back.

what's with all the ''some man must have hurt her in the past'' excuses?

when a man is accused of abusing women nobody steps up to say ''well, some woman must have really hurt him..''

when it's the other way around, apparently nobody can even conceive that a woman can go insane without a man being involved..

''What's that? A woman chased a guy down the street and shot his brains out? Geeez.. some GUY must have really hurt her..''

I know we shouldn't play the blame game, but I cannot help but feel that this is somehow Feminism's fault. Unable to use the previously sizable Domestic Violence quotas as a political tool to demonise men must be frustrating. Combine that with the fact that women are losing their "oppressed minority" status...well that's some intense Oestrogen-charged hatred right there!

I wonder if she will claim he was abusing her to try and weasel out of this. I also wonder if the autopsy turned up any signs of abuse, maybe he had been abused for years and got tired of it.

It doesn't matter though, domestic abuse only happens to women according to some people.

They would be surprised then!

Domestic violence happens to men, probably as much as it does to women.

And of course kids are nearly always on the receiving end.

Men don't tend to report it as much as women do. Primarily out of shame and fear of ridicule, due to societal conditioning regarding gender roles.

But it does go on and on an alarming scale.

Edit to add;

The way i see it, it doesn't matter if a woman or a man beats and abuses the hell out of their partners, or not. Murder is murder.

The way MSM dishes out the sob stories, when the abused partner (man or woman) goes berserk and kills the abusive partner, makes me sick.

They often set the scene and describe years of periodic beatings etc, and then imply the abused snaps and kills the partner.

The one thing they ALWAYS leave out though, is the fact that there is and always has been a large 7ft x 4ft hole in the front of the house, that the abused could have simply walked through and out of the abuse, at ANY time they had wanted to.

The front door.

Murder is NOT the last resort of an abused person...walking out of the front door is.

It's interesting and sad the predominant response to this event when compared to the Mel Gibson brouhaha given the questions regarding the evidence. I have been starting to wonder if there is any real difference between abusers and victims, if in the heart of every abuser lies a victim and every victim is a potential abuser. We're not sposed to think of victims as such I know but apparently the rules get changed a lot when the abuser is a woman. Like does attract like after all.

Thank you. That is exactly why I posted this here. I knew more details could be sussed out. I am sure people can argue that may not be indicative of anything but I think I am with you in that shows a serious lack of something.

That is one thing that strikes me. There is that stereotype that cops dont care about abused women who "chose" not to leave without ever understanding the circumstances that might prevent such choices. I am sure that groups such that she represented have at least some disdain for this line of thinking and here, this man left. She chased him down. So much irony in this sad story.

Typical of the anti-male bunch. I've had dealings with people like her

(obviously not quite this bad).

Curious if she's a lesbian.

The guy getting shot was bad enough, especially given the one doing the shooting and her history, however, the article referenced in the OP is astounding. I have rarely seen such a ugly instance of yellow journalism. I don't doubt that the incident occurred, however I could have appreciated the irony for what it was without the dripping cynicism and sarcasm.

I thought the same thing and that is why I hunted down some other links. The thing is, I was listening to the radio when they told the story with other headlines and when I go online I find that slanted little article and it was from March. I hoped that I at least gave enough info to help people dig up any missing information though.
