Thanks. It was ruff there for a little while.
What happened to me was that I recieved (earned) my professional engineering license and my employer gave me a raise. Only to lay me off a few months
later stating that they couldn't afford to pay my salary anymore (even though they are the ones who forced me to get the PE....but I'm glad I did
it).
So, I get a call about 9 months later (after looking for a job non stop and being like "WTF....I thought civil engineers where in high demand?")
asking if I would join a team of construction managers to manage one of the stimulus (ARRA) projects. I accepted.
And now I'm making about 15k/year more than I was before I was laid off. I just hope it lasts.
Sorry to hear of all the people who are still looking. Hang in there. I know it's tough.
