Have not seen the video yet but the last report from the Jefferson(NOAA ship) before the news blackout was several fissures/fractures in the seafloor in a 30 mile radius of the well. One of them 10 miles away from the well was described by the scientists as 200 yds long and several miles deep. They said it was "hemmoraghing gas and oil" and growing.

Oh right lets let all the media go down and get in the way! Nice idea mate, really nice! Do you have any common sense? Would you want the media poking into your problems?

Ok then capping the first would make no sense would it because the pressure would make the "other" leaks worse.... You people shoot yourself in the foot ALLWAYS! The claims make no sense and have no foundation but you still believe it Zzz

Do I want the media poking into BP's problems? You'd better believe it. And what's this matter of "letting" the media go down in subs in the area? In the U.S. We have freedom of the press. The well is in public waters. I can see a 2 mile "safety zone" around the perimiter of the horizon, but inspecting a "HOLE" 10 miles away, how is that getting in the way?

Just browsed some of your past posts. Though I didn't find one that stated "How to support giant oil companies when they royaly screw up." Might want to add that one.

Of course its getting in the way!

Anyway i am not going to argue with you people any more, its pointless. You can carry on believing the dreamers, theorizers, tire kickers and attention seekers. Thing is nobody but BP knows what is really happening!

But we will all find out the truth soon won't we! Then we can check this conspiracy off as well as i have the distinct feeling this whole drama will soon be over (unfortunately for you)

yes but capping allows for relief wells to be drilled to lower the pressuure of the first well, so basically I give you the ole snow job again to get what I want,
I also get to use 3 wells and make more billions at the possile risk for millions of people and wildlife, I Imagaine you have investment an BP stock looking to captialzie on the misfortune of others?

The post about earthquakes in Maryland earlier in the thread makes me nervous. I live here and although I didn't feel them, there have been two earthquakes over the last month here. A 3.7 near D.C. on July 16th on top of the 5.0 that was felt in some places of Maryland on June 23rd. It is very unusual for this area to get back to back quakes like this. Is the activity in the Gulf stirring up the New Madrid? I sure hope not because the central U.S. would be a wasteland.

That, would in fact be the problem, "Nobody but BP actually knows what's happening." After almost 90 days why is that? Is investigative journalism dead, or just controlled?

My theory is they timed the installation of this with the relief well being very close to its objective. Now that they have it capped they will kill the well with the relief well. Once it is killed all leaks will stop. If you capped it months ago then the other leaks would still be leaking and it would be apparent that there is another leak.

Since the well is capped and the relief wells is very close they will be able to hide the other leaks easier. When they go to court for any fines they will be able to show the only leak as the one at the bop. The scientist will come in and show a much lower barrel per day leak than it actually is. You must realize that it is a 7 inch riser pipe in the sea floor. for this oil to cover an area that the spill is in is impossible.

Look at he link below it is for the complete specifications of the macondo project.

www.drillscience.com...

If you look through you will see the burst pressure of the pipe is 14,156 psi. Using this maximum pressure we can calculate the maximum flow. Use link below and go to the pressure drop calculator. I used the drop in pressure from 2 seprate pipes a 7 inch and a 9 7/8 inch pipe. This information is in the first link.

www.pipeflowcalculations.com...

Since I am a complete moron I have no clue how to do this using these tools. I am typing this and as I am doing it I am totally confused. Anyway would appreciate a math guy to go over this and help me out. The flow rate can be calculated using the maximum burst pressure. This would of course be the maximum amount the wellhead could produce.

p.s. the spreadsheet came from this linkscience.niuz.biz...
I posted this earlier. It got buried pretty quick but could be a reason to cap also any scientist out there with an answer?

Just to throw this out there, but if you read the report the russian scientists were hired by BP and not the US. So they were able to go and check out the disaster.

Just want to point something out. I saw Matt Simmons on Ratigan last night and was very pleased to hear at least somebody have some skepticism regarding the latest BP reports.

I mean seriously, after 85 days of nothing but misrepresentations I am just going stop and say - Oh, OK NOW They Are Telling It To Us Straight it's only day 86. Oh yeah, and don't worry about all those other days of L#*S, you say your telling the truth now so I must believe.

Sorry No. BP Has No Credibility In My Opinion.

Anyways, I was happy to see a thread about that MSNBC Matt Simmons report here on ATS. I was not happy at how many character attacks were throw down on Matt Simmons and began a search for truth.

I decided that I would take a couple hours and do some investigating to see if Matt Simmons was someone I could at least be willing to read/listen to and then make up my own mind on it's validity or is he just spewing out a bunch of Mickey Mouse B.S. and wasting my time.

In my Online search, I found NOTHING derogatory or damning. Quite the contrary, I found many many people valued his opinion. Even certain Texan radio stars loved him (which I almost considered to be derogatory if not extremely damning --- Just Kidding, of course).

It was after a thorough search that I realized I was investigating the wrong person.

Unfortunately I had to dig in to my fellow ATS brother's and sister's previous post and threads to find the answer I was looking for.

With the exception of ATS Member billyjack, who I have gained the greatest respect for and will value his reply to this posting, not a single negative comment against Matt Simmons had any validity. I am not claiming to truly know and understand a persons reasoning behind trying to discredit Matt Simmons from just their ATS History.

However, I saw ZERO Trends and no logic for the attacks.

Also, in my honest opinion, I believe I stumbled upon one of those dreaded DISINFO Specialist--I have no hard proof that I discovered one, but if you review the history as I did, you will notice that the person likes Waffles and likes to pour some stuff on Thick!!!

Below are just some observations. I do not claim to be correct in my analysis.

I would like to know -- CAN MATT SIMMONS BE A TRUSTED RESOURCE? If so, please let ATS Members decide for themselves if they care for the information that he his presenting. If not, please give an explanation for your discrediting with documentation and sources.

Again, billyjack, I look forward to your reply as I am certain it will be excellent and informative.

Best Regards,
thom

I appreciate you witholding judgement, but this is really starting to eat me up and I am going to lay it out right here, if for nothing else because i feel I may explode.

I am a laid off IT guy, that is all. I should be so blessed to have a job as a "dis-info" agent right now because I am about to lose everything... EVERYTHING. I have no stake in this game at all except to find the truth, and yes I am new. Everyone was new before.

I just wanted a voice, but because I stay rational and use facts and sources that disagree with doomsday theories and show other possible motivations for these theories, I am somehow the enemy? If you guys keep doing that, the only thing you will have left is the very lies you are afraid of.

Edited to add: I was born and raised on the beaches of Pinellas county, Florida. I have many loved ones there still. I say this to explain why I have such an interest in this particular topic, not that I owe anyone an explanation.

Here is a link to an article that may explain where Simmons has gotten his info from regarding the ruptured sea-floor

ireport.cnn.com...

Quite scary. If this is an any way true MSM and BP need to be dragged into the streets and lynched. It angers me so much to see on my nightly news "HOORAY BP have finally PLUGGED THE WELL....!!!!! It's all over!"

No. It's NOT all over. Get to the bottom of these reports of ruptures in the sea floor NOW

Has anybody been able to explain away this ROV video clearly showing oil leaking from the sea floor?

If not, it seems to me that its a fact that there are other leaks, and therefor there is nothing to debate about

Bravo to you. I think that Mr.Simmons has more credibility concerning this situation than most people have on this site. You can always look into the past of people and find something that is a little shady looking. That doesn't mean he doesn't know what he is talking about. The fact that MSM has been talking with him must show he has some kind of knowledge to what is happening down below. So just thought I would put my $.02 in here.

Those are for your bit of hard work you have done in your post.

Ok, this is crazy. There are even private submarines that can go down to 1500 feet. Military submarines can go down far below the 5000 feet nessesary. Are you telling me, NOBODY is actually looking? and that all we have is vague sonar images of the surrounding area? Does anybody else find it PHENOMENALLY WRONG, that no subs, whether they be military, scientific, or for that matter private, have even looked around the general area of the Horizon, to look for pressure leaks? Has everybody gone completely mad? This is a cover up on such a massive level it should have already fallen apart, YET NOBODY IS ASKING THE QUESTIONS! Where are the subs? Where are the scientific researchers? Where is the media? Where the $%$^ is everybody? To me this almost feels like a dream, because the reaction to this is SO WRONG it is hard to believe.

What?? I hope you don't mean U.S. Navy submarines as they can't go much lower than 1000 feet. This whole Oil thing is taking place at 5000-6000feet. No military submarine can go that far not even the Russian ones which have the world record for deepest drives

it seems to me the reports are true, there is cnn msn reuters as well as other news sites that refer to possible cracks in the sea floor, no video to prove/disprove this, i have other posts on ATS that make the same statement, it is frustrating to know what is going, and not having the info to prove it. i think that falls in to the belief non belief, break that down and you get "be lie ef" or be a lie be a if, but i do believe. How do you see belief? just my thoughts.

Here is a video taken from an ROV of oil leaking from cracks on the seafloor. As I have posted in multiple threads, I still haven't seen an explanation for it.
