BP says oil has stopped leaking

Two things:

BP is trying to beef up there numbers. As posted on this thread earlier, BP shares went up 7% today.

And most of us here know that BP is full of it.

Most of the ROV's right now are searching the sea floor for cracks.

Well all I can say is, there have been people screaming from the start that the well casing is most definitely compromised downhole.

That means by shutting off the flow pressure at the main leak will subvert the pressure to the leaks below surface. This could rupture the entire area.

BP must know this

First off from all the vids ive seen of the well head theres no way 14000 psi your lucky if its 100 psi. All that oil in the gulf did not come from that well head impossible theres a fracture on the sea floor and those lying sacks of sh----ts bp and obama woulnd't tell the truth you can't trust one word from them. It makes me sick to even look at obama mr. i got paid off by bp. One day karma will rear its ugly head then what will you do then mr. president ones thing is for certain he will lie. I'm getting the impression that these "relief wells" have been doomed from the start. They were never going to work because the well casing downhole is broken and compromised.

BP and the US government have known from day one that this is beyond repair and it's implications are paramount to biblical. People will panic.

I'm starting to suspect that they have shut off the main leak in order to blow out the entire area, as this is going to be so disastrous they will be able to say

"Well, we stopped the flow like everyone wanted, how were we to know the casing was wrecked downhole? Now we have the entire area blown out. No one could have predicted this so it isn't our fault"

I'm really nervous that they have stopped the flow. If the casing is degraded downhole this could be about to get very ugly. I hope I am SO wrong

My concern is that up until they stopped the leak today, they were talking about shutting it down in phases, every six hours or so.

The next thing we hear, is that it is completely shut down.

I have said it already, but what I am really concerned about is 'Why'?

Why go from an established plan of slowly shutting of the oil, to all of suddenly risking the complete destruction of either the riser itself, or the sea floor around it (and/or both)?

I'm SURE there are many things going on right at this moment that are not being "fed" to you "online specialists".

just because people watch cnn, fox, msnbc and others every night certainly doesn't mean they are "well informed" as to what is REALLY going on.

Look at the news you get from the white house press. here the president of the US raised all the taxes on tobacco and he SMOKES........They don't show those scenes now do they. Do you REALLY think you know what is going on behind the scenes?

Do you REALLY believe that what you are seeing on all the rovers and such is the gospel truth?

Have any of you ever been to a movie?

People are hopeful man. What's wrong with that? Sure they may be lying to us about the stopped leak, but is that any reason to insult everyone in the thread for being hopeful? I think not.

I don't know but it's a question the begs an answer. The only thing I can think of is maybe BP are deliberately trying to have the seafloor/riser collapse in on itself to make this so bad it would be irreparable.

Everyone wants to see this oil flow shut off so badly. The masses are screaming for it and rightly so, but IF the casing is shot to hell downhole, doing exactly this could have disastrous consequences. A lot of people believe the casing is indeed destroyed below the surface.

If BP fix this, they'll be left with a bill reaching into the tens of billions.

If it collapses in on itself and opens up a giant seafloor hole then the damage is incalculable. How could BP be expected to fix that and pay for that, something the masses were screaming to have done without knowing the consequences?

Maybe i'm looking into it too much. I just hope the casing downhole hasn't been damaged

Oil stopped flowing at 2:25 p.m. local time, Mr. Wells said, when engineers closed the choke line, the final seal of the well. Engineers and scientists will now examine the results of the tests every six hours to determine the pressure levels.

Agreed. But how can we prosecute without knowing how much has actually leaked? Or how deadly COREXIT is going to be and for how long?

So, I obviously hit a nerve in you and Projectvxn.

It is amazing that something I had observed, that was not aimed "intentionally at you", brought about such hostility.

All I said was, "Don't believe everything you see and certainly don't believe "anything" you read. Kinda funny YOU took it so personally.

I heard a saying recently that said, "You spot it, you got it". Made a lot of sense to me after thinking about it. There are many people in this world that promote a different agenda than mine. Doesn't make them right or wrong, but I certainly don't have to take what they say as the gospel truth.
Kinda like the christians getting all pissed off at the other religions. Can't they just forgive and forget like their religion teaches? Nope!

Maybe I should phrase some of my observations differently. Let's try this.

Just because you are unaware of a situation, doesn't mean that situation doesn't exist. There...no quotation marks to irk you or make you have an emotional response. Is it a true statement? You be the judge.

Let's look at another angle to this whole fiasco.

We are being "fed" ..."we" being the collective phrase here.....endless info into every action that is taking place on the planet these days. Well, let me ask you one question. Just what in the hell are you gonna do about it?

The leak has happened. Can you stop it? Will getting more and more info from this site do ONE single thing to stop it? If you read 1 post or 400, will your extra knowledge stem the flow of this MAN made mistake?

You sir, are the one to be commended as being the wise one for you are under the impression that your thought about all of this matters and is going to make a difference. I am sure that if you post enough intelligent posts on this site, it will surely clean the crude oil off the beaches and birds beaks and everything will be peachy keen in the morning.

My POINT to my previous post , and the reason I posted it, was to try and tell people to STOP watching the bs they are seeing on all the media outlets and stop reacting emotionally to it because it isn't gonna do anything but raise your blood pressure.

The well is indeed damaged down hole.
So badly it spewed 200,000 gallons per hour of mud!

The relief wells are likely just about where they want them, because after they seal Macondo with cement, the relief wells become the new producing wells, and these will bring in absolutely HUGE amounts of Crude!

I suspect the Relief wells are solid, too, because they expect to be able to use them for production. (and the Gov had better of been on top of their safety and materials stuff)

If this Macondo well is so ruined as to prove un-seal-able, they will just find a way to pull the oil from it and produce it or move it to another empty well somewhere else in the gulf (~hoping that line does not spring a leak!).

Those relief wells will not go to waste, one will certainly pump mud and concrete at amazing rates, to fill the Macondo Bore, but then it will be redirected down to find the black gold that Macondo could not handle.

I think the bigger issue now will be the climate impact. ... and finding ways to put O2 back into the Gulf.

They are checking for seismic activity to ensure that the pressure won't rupture the ocean floor.

Let's hope this gets as much attention as all the bad news and pessi-cyntism that proliferates ATS.

UPDATE. This ROV is currently being raised, so the lights & picture have been turned off.

You know, I started to write a lengthy response to your BS, but your points just don't even make it worth it. All that your points have done is to make a few people chuckle at your arrogance.

If people do not get here on ATS and discuss issues, than absolutely nothing ever might happen.

I am only going to give one example, the recent MSM response to the BP Mustang case. IF this topic had not been so discussed on here, and ATS had not pursued the truth in this matter, than aboslutely nothing would have been done. Maybe nothing will happen, other than having it on a major MSM network, but at least the good people around here tried. And trying, is, half the battle.

All that we are doing on here is trying to share thoughts and ideas, not be lectured by someone that what we are doing is waste of time. None of us that post on here think that, or we would not be here in the first place.

So, please, enjoy your view of life and keep on making me laugh.

(One last thought, I engage in the BP threads to learn more, and share observations. I have several family members that live on the coast, and while I will not be on CNN with any answers Buttercup, talking about an issue that could potentially affect my family makes me feel better).
