The show in itself wasn't that good but i got an odd feeling watching it. Almost like they were preparing us for something. It played more like a training video than a reality show imo. Did anybody else get that feeling ?
i do agree with most of you that it is a poor concept, but thats the point. It is not entertaining in any way shape or form imo. So, why make it then? I mean especially when the "experts" came in those little video clips it wreaked of training video. IDK maybe its just me but at least i learned how to filter water

That's the thing. All of that nonsense is scripted garbage.

That is a shame, since it could be a good show if the producers had any imagination. If such devastation occurred as they are advertising, the last place you would find me is staying in an abandoned city. I do not know much about survival, but I would head toward the nearest forest and learn quickly - or perish.

They should throw this colony in a Survivor Man type of environment and see how well they adapt. No need for artificial threats there when you are too busy dealing with real ones.

Instead of eliminating the ridiculous "attack" scenes that diminished last season's authenticity, they added more.

They were attacked in the first episode of the show? How much time elapses during each episode? How many episodes do we have to wait before they are attacked by someone wearing a bear costume?

If I was in that scenario I wouldn't be wrestling with the intruders. I would be swinging to kill and save my life and protect my people. It just gives an overwhelming feeling its not genuine. No way would there be such well rounded and experienced group of workers either. I wouldn't stay in 1 place either. The whole scenario is completely unlikely. If any new scenario came out it would be more like the book of eli (without the book) or the road. Any sort of nuclear attack is far more likely than a biological attack of that scale. I do know that the swine flu recently was sort of like any experiment for the nwo and many STDs and other diseases were made to control the population. With what is happening now, it makes more sense to me that way.

In situation-x, at least, I expect most leaves on trees fallen down. May I ask how can I built a shelter/camp in a less leaves woods without people finding out & coming 360degree? It is not a building that I can see people outside first before they see me, and I cannot hide/pretend I am not inside.

In addition, would water in wild have more chance posioned than water in bottles or water saved in a house in a city? Or, will it be harder to purify water in wild than city with equipments easier to be found?

Moreover, if we expect most building cannot stand/destroyed, why trees can? If we expect most human cannot survival, why animals in woods can? If most trees & animals are dead in woods, wouldn't those animals/preditor move to cities for hunting human/food/dogs/meat in cities (which are also food for me in the city while I have a house to keep food & tools, and to shelter/defense me while sleep); while insect & rats will be all over woods' dead animals body (and if I am in the woods with them, I will not have a house to stay away with them), while cities' dead bodies would have less insect on them and also more chance to be dispose by other people?

OR am I wrong? Pls kindly advise. Thanks.

Do not try to apply logic to an illogical concocted situation. You will just cause your brain to hurt.

These kinds of shows are kind of a insult to a real life survival situation. It is in fact a show and the "actors" know it. The concept is meaningful I'm sure but make it real. Drop a group of people in a war torn country where they really have to pull rabbits our of their hats not their asses.

I really like the show. I didn't watch the first season, so I've only seen 2 episodes ever up til now, but I like what I've seen. Even if the show is scripted (and who knows if it is), and even if the survivors seem lucky with their finds (who knows, it really could be chance), what I like about it is AT LEAST THERE'S A SHOW OUT THERE TEACHING PEOPLE SOME SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES!

For example: Regardless of HOW they go about protecting themselves from "the intruders", at least viewers are learning, "Uh, duh, I guess protection is important".

The main gist of the show, from what I can tell, is to teach people what their survival priorities are going to be in a situation like this and that they need to constantly be coming up with ways to survive.

I'm gonna keep watching it!

I've just caught episodes 1 and 2 and so far it seems so much better than season 1!

I'm looking forward to episode 3! but can't help but feel some elements are staged! well season 1 was pretty lame, and so far a major incident in season 2 (when the hostiles came for medical supplies) its like they all had in the back of their mind, you kill you get sent down, so didn't actually get stuck in as you would in a real life sit X

they shouldn't stage attacks, but focus more on the survival aspects of things. And not suddenly have masses of wire and power tools and the such! let them scavenge.......

which brings me onto another idea! which I'll post when I'm allowed lol

Episode 1: They found bean seeds, and as far as I can tell they ate them instead of planted them.

Episode 3: They ruined the several gallons of fish stew... dumped it into the sewer instead of made compost with it.

Season 2.

I don't recall them being provided seeds of any kind in season 1.

I totally agree that it seems like the mass public is getting prepared for something. All the doomsday movies with martial law like scenes (I am Legend, The Crazies, Children of Men) when the military is hoarding groups of people through fences while their families are being split up, and now TV shows that have people put into doomsday situations, just seems sort of fishy.

On another note, I watched the whole first season and did enjoy it. The only problem I had with it, there aren't very many people in the show with average day jobs, they all seem to be able to rebuild electricity and other crazy projects which the average joe could not. Which brings me to the first episode of Season 2. I like the scenario in this years season more than last years and am excited to watch the next episode.

I just got turned on last night and I feel the same. This is scripted but who cares, I learned how to make diesel fuel out of animal fats! Also learned how to make a generator out of a alternator and a good way to purify water to drink. I loved the show and hope they find barley and make beer next!

Also loved how they pick the hottest chick to test the shower first. Damn!!!

Love the show and wish there where more places to learn such survival skills.

Personally I think the angry mob scenes where pose to be defence only but the cononists did not make a fortress so it end up being a retarded sissy fight.

They should change supply storage buildings and descreatly fortify it without leaving any modified evidence around the new building. Continue to work at the old building to maintain the illusion that they are still there. When the atkers come the hotties and chubby dude should barricaid themself with the hidden supply stash while the rest stage a surrender at the main camp posing that nothing is left of supplies. Then the atks would be throughn off.

But to stay at that building after the first A hole came and they got in a scuffle when walking to that building was stupid.

Can not wait to see the next one!

I'm still enjoying it. I don't know if I would have welcomed those last 2 into the group so easily though. I mean, we (the viewers) know that they're not from some other group of outsiders, but how do the colonists know they're not just infiltrating?

If I were in that situation, I would just stick w/ the people I already have in my group, people I already know I can trust, and I wouldn't let anyone else in--period.

I agree with the statement about wasting stuff. They should try to grow SOME stuff. I know the show isn't that long and they won't be there that long, but there's at least time for sprouts to grow and sprouts are packed full of nutrition. And yes, the wasted fish soup would have been a fantastic fertilizer.

It seems like they have some great ideas--big scheme ideas--but there are a lot of little things they're not thinking about and small things they could be doing that could help their situation.

Looking forward to the next episode!

So far I have only seen like 2 or 3 of the first season and part of season 2, not sure which one it was tho. So far the best word I can find for the show is hilarious. It is obviously dreamed up by some liberal with no real thought to reality.
The reason I say this is based on these reasons. They do not have anyone with any real military ( well one guy with pony tail claimed to be ex military but never said what he did) or law enforcement. They have no concept on how to survive long term. No leader to the group. No long term plan past that day on what they will do. I do not think any of them has tried to make as real weapon. From what I saw i think the only "attacks" happened at night. And some guy using a lighter to light everything instead of using a piece of wood from a fire ( but then do they have one burning all the time?).
I mean what would a normal group of people do? I would think the first things would be defense ( not one person walking around at night), Weapons, Leadership, making folks into teams for protection. Sending teams out daily to find food water and anything else. After that perhaps a 24/7 lookout up on the roof. Making a spear at least. And I am sure sending the females out wearing tight clothes makes a lot of sense to me.
Like I say I find the show funny and would hate to be stranded with these folks. I would much rather have a group or rednecks of a bunch of inner city gang bangers, at least they would have a chance.
What would make the show interesting would be to use a group of green berets or ren fare people.
