Hi all!

I decided to make a thread in which anyone can share their musical talent with the BTS community.

Feel free to post videos, links, Myspace pages, Soundclouds, etc. (I hope this isnt against any of the T&C, and if it is please let me know)

Anyways, I'll see if i can get something started.

I'm a 16 year old Electronica producer hailing from Brazil, currently living in the US. I make music as a hobby and I've remixed tracks for a British DJ before, but thats as far as I plan on going with this.

I like to stick to Trance, but I tend to delve into Pop every now and then for fun.

Some of my older tracks can be found here:
soundcloud.com...

I'm open to any criticism as always, and I hope to see more musicians sharing their talents!

I play bass on this audioclip from 1992. I also recorded the video (it's more recent though). However, I don't play anymore, so never mind the bass. Listen to the guitar instead.

1 min 49 sec

I also play bass here (1991). 59 sec

The song I entered into the BTS music contest a while back:

media.abovetopsecret.com...

It has lyrics, but they aren't appropriate for all ages, so I submitted the instrumental version.

All instruments, recording, mixing and (the not so great job I did) mastering, by me.

Ahh! Why can everyone play the guitar so incredibly well?

I guess I'll have to live with what I have...

anyways, TheAssociate, did you play every instrument on that track or do you have band members? It sounds pretty awesome if you ask me.

Thanks, I'm glad ya liked it.

I played everything. Guitar, drums, bass, synthesizers and I programmed the drum machine and back ground machine noise tracks. I recorded in Pro Tools LE with more plugins than I can keep track of, and used Reason for the electronic stuff (none of my hardware synths or drum machines fit the track just right).

When I was mastering it, I didn't know what type of speakers everyone would be using, so I squashed the dynamics and went for pure loudness. It's not the way you're supposed to do it, but it usually sounds better that way on those small computer speakers.

Anyway, thanks again for the kind words and for the cool thread.

ETA: Listening to your tracks right now, and loving 'em. Catchy and very danceable. I'm seriously impressed, especially with "Dreamworld."

I'm tempted to use Reason, but I've gotten way too attached to my FL Studio to let it go. I guess I'll give it a try now that I've seen some of its capabilities, a trial version should be enough to make up my mind.

anyways, thanks for giving a listen to my tracks, i appreciate it! and Dreamworld is so cheesy now that I look back on it, but it seems to be the one all my friends like.

You can actually use Reason inside FL via Rewire. Best of both worlds.

And Dreamworld was not cheesy.

Here are a few of my productions, I produce with my brother, who is a DJ. We've been doing the production side for a few years now. Never make any money, the tracks are more of a calling card for my brother to get dj gigs. Thats where the money is. I have to leave my ego aside and let my brother take all the glory, which is fine as i'm no longer interested in the DJing side of things.

Just checked out your tracks on soundcloud. Good stuff especially as your only 16, some good ideas and i liked your Olive remix, only the timing on the vocal isn't quite right, still some great ideas and thats the main thing nowadays

Thats amazing! It reminds me of my nights back in Brazil on the farm... good memories.

Is that an acoustic guitar? it seems different from anything I've seen.

Nice tracks!

Unfortunately I've never been able to make tracks like that, at least not tracks I've been happy with

And thanks for giving my work a listen too, i appreciate it!

as for the Olive track, I've always felt the vocals were off, but i had accidentally deleted my project file, and I had put too much work on it to just trash it for some misplaced vocals.

Your tracks all sounded pretty good to me, If your 16 and havn't been to clubs, it must make things a little more difficult.

We normally take our tracks to an engineer to get them mixed down and mastered. If you know anyone in your local area it may be worth having a look into it. You'll also learn a lot in the process if you can spend sometime with an engineer, it's helped my productions more than any new software.

Anyway keep up the good work and let me know when you have new tracks on soundcloud. It's people like you who will be creating the dance music of the future

Thanks! I'll def have to look for some kind of audio engineer around here who'll work for free (hopefully)

and actually i uploaded a 30 second bit of a DnB remix yesterday. Just so that i could get some ideas on what to do with it, but no luck yet.

Thank you. That guitar is called a dobro or resonator. Invented before there were electric guitars. A very distinctive sound. Here is some blues slide.

Go for it, you may not find an engineer for free, but you could see if you can get some work experience in a studio and take it from there. I look back now and wish i'd have got into the production side of things a lot earlier. I Djed from the age of 16 and never thought about producing until i was in my mid 20's. you've got a great head start, young and enthusiastic with some great ideas, maybe you could make a career out of it. Gotta be better than working in an office all your life.
