This is my first thread and I realize the title is slightly controversial but I happened to be reading a magazine from earlier in the year and I came across an article about how Obama was pushing for more Gulf Drilling the magazine in question was either popular mechanics or popular science sorry I can't remember the exact month but it was before this spill/trickle happened.

At first I was for hanging BP but the more this goes on the more apparent it is that Obama set this whole thing up so an American company could attempt a takeover, this raises a few issues and in some ways is even worse than 911 and the loss of life could very well be greater if it was deliberate it is a crime that puts 911 into total insignificance.

If Obama did have a hand in this just how far does it go and was the actual disaster arranged or just a lucky break I tend to think it was arranged and the rig was sabotaged purposefully (Halliburton), There can be very little doubt Obama was lightning fast to push all of the blame onto BP and made a deliberate attempt at driving down the share prices and the government has in fact done nothing at all to help or resolve the situation.

The priority should have been to immediately seal the leak using all known methods and charging BP if necessary later not sitting back and criticizing especially when you were the one pushing for tighter schedules and applying pressure to get it done.

To the British reading this I apoligize for this unnecessary attack on your country by a man who has lied to us all and basicly backstabbed everyone I for one have no doubts Obamas bank account grew because of this. I also see most of the ATS crowd have fallen right into the media agenda of blaming BP for everything I did this at first also but then took a step back to look at the situation in perspective.

I leave you with my suspicions, No I have no solid proof but I think there are already as many suspicious goings on as 911.

Some people find conspiracy where there is none. Everyone from both sides of the floor were onboard for more offshore drilling.

Why wouldn't Obama criticize BP who cut corners and caused this disaster. I'm pretty sure Obama wasn't there to tell them to use a faulty BOP, or drill in an area that was known to be dangerous, or told them to speed up drilling which caused a fracture in the 1st well they tried, and so on and so on.

Why would Obama take any heat for this incident. The MMS disaster unfolded under the Bush/Cheney watch. It's time for Cheneys secret oil meeting at the beginning of their term to be released. What did they outline during these meetings with the oil executives who helped shaped the Bush admin oil & gas policies. I think you'll find that the disaster of MMS and oversight was purposely made loose to allow their oil buddies access to the GOM.

Now it's caught up to everyone.

I agree, Obama needs to be impeached, he is letting this go down to pass cap and tax, which is what BP wants, they rebranded themselves as Beyond Petrolium. If Obama has his way by passing cap and tax, there will be a whole new set of corporate welfare for BP that far exceeds the cost benefit of the deepwater disaster. Unfortunately, it won't help a single person who lost their livelihood like those who fish the gulf, from this disaster. He should be impeached for his response, I thought bush's response to katrina was awful, this is off the scale.

You know, this impeachment talk sounds a lot like the Republican mantra during the Clinton years.

They dont go after him for legitimate stuff, because they are implicated int eh legitimate stuff. No, just make up some crap about how he wants to poison the gulf and use the word impeach over and over.

Mark Sanford all over asain.

Obstruct, project.

You think Obama is responisble for this ? ha...hahahaha

Maybe ask yourself, who's family is in the Oil buisness, Haliburton etc..

If anyone is responsible for oil campanies getting acces to teh gulf for oil rigging: it's the Bush dynasty, not Obama....

to the op,.. yeah Obama is a very unfavord prez, and he certainly deserves a slap for mishandling of the magnitude, (and I don't support him at all) but this would have happened to whom ever was in office.. take notice to history,.. something major has happened to every office occupant. this is bigger than one person for responsibility

I thought I had heard it all when a guy this morning told me that he feels that the USA should attack England and take it over because of BP's handling of the spill. This is as moronic as his statement. How about we execute all the drill baby drill folks?

Is mishandling a disaster an impeachable offence under the American constitution?
Now, in a parliamentary system, you might be able to get him on a "vote of no confidence"...

It absolutely cracks me up when I hear people take political sides with this.

Ok, yes Bush and Cheney are responsible for creating the environment that let this happen. But Obama, as he says himself, is responsible for the oversight of the cleanup.

Since Day 1, Obama has handled this mess with the same tenacity as Bush did with Katrina. Slow, lethargic, and pathetic. Bush and Cheney really screwed the victims of katrina, and Obama is really screwing the people of the Gulf Coast.

IMO, the Democrats were complete idiots for not imeaching Bush over Katrina and the closed door 'Big Oil' meetings that took place, and the Iraq War. And IMO, the Republicans are complete idiots for not impeaching Obama.

It is completely irresponsible that we are over 80 days into this mess, and that we only recently started to allow some aid in from other countries, or that we STILL do not know exactly how much oil is coming out, or that we do not understand at all the short or long term effects of the millions of gallons of COREXIT BP is using to hide the amount of oil reaching the surface, or that there are people still waiting for economic help from this disaster, or that FEMA does not have tons of 'Food Kitchens" set up to simply help feed the people that have zero income coming in, or that the fisherman who have been hired to help with the clean-up have 'Gag' orders and are getting sick, or that the US Navy was not deployed with its own submersibles from day one to both monitor the actions of BP and to help with the determination of how much oil is escaping, or any other list of things that the Obama admin could be doing.

Instead, he is following the Bush plan, play golf and fundraise.

How about putting politics aside for a moment, and realize that they have all screwed us!

Or, keep up the polarization of politcal sides and point fingers at one side over the other. Do the work of the political masters for them.

They are all bad.

Thanks for the laughs. I needed them.

I would like to refer you to an article dated July 8th that explains what is happening, who is responsible etc. Please read it. Do a search on ATS for "WAR on the World" 30 facts.

The fact that both administrations have demonstrated their inability to react to national disasters only serves to underscore the fact that federal government is not there to help the citizens. The federal government and the politicians who run it are there to enrich themselves by taking your money.

Do ever get the feeling that we're all the the butt-end of a P.T. Barnum quote?

From Article II, Section 4 of the United States Constitution.

The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Teason? No evidence of that.
Bribery? No evidence of that.
High crimes? Misdemeanors? No evidence of that.

I am confused. What exactly do you want to impeach the President for?

Obama is part of the Bush dynasty though they are cousins. I mean what are the odds of that really?

Obama Distant Cousin of Bush

He hasn't mishandled the disaster he has done absolutely nothing to help and had a hand in it happening in the first place he should be held accountable for the disaster and the response.

At the very best Obama has been taking bribes from company's like Exxon at the worst he gave direct orders to sink the rig, either way he's unfit for office.

In essence Obama is attacking England and wars have been started for less I don't think there can be any doubt about his open hostility to the UK in general. His agenda may be to cost us our last few allies.

In summary yes I think Obama should be impeached even if it's only for his lack of response which by itself is treason.

Obama loathes the British. He absolutely hates them and would like nothing better than to see them all swinging from poles. It was obvious from day one.

I don't think Obama cares much for Europe or Western Civilization in general.

I would not put it past a Satan-worshipping asshat like Obama to order the destruction of British property. The guy, like so many of the elite and political class, is a psychopath.

If Zombie Reagan were president, he would swim down there on nothing but a lung full of air and would plug that leak with nothing but cleared brush brought to him by W.

Clearly Obama hates America.

I believe you hit the nail on the head with the cap and trade issue.

While we are watching the gulf issue unfold Obama is working his own agenda.

In my opinion he has neglected the people of the gulf coast. It certainly is not his top concern.
I vote yes to impeach.

You got that right re the Bushy boys! We could impeach Obama and another just as bad would pop up in his place, and so on and so on. We don't even get good candidates to choose from so we can vote for someone that's for the good of the country and people instead of their own bank accounts. I don't trust any of them!

I want to impeach him for letting this go on so he can pass cap and trade for his buddies at the CCX.

warofillusions.wordpress.com...

I, by the way, I would have impeached Bush too, kudos to Dennis Kucininch for his neverending effort to impeach that criminal Bush, you did America proud, If only the democratic sheep had chose you over Obama, we wouldn't be in this mess.
