"666" is a reference to the carbon atom

Carbon is the basis of all life on the Earth.

The "pure" carbon atom has six electrons, six protons and six neutrons.

Therefore, these statements, without any religious bias, can be said to be factual: "666 is the number of man", "666 is the number of the beast".

Scriptural prophecy relates the "mark of the beast" to an economic system.

Any takers?

Carbon Tax anyone? I was thinking about carbon being the dreaded number, but I never went anywhee with it. Aside from the carbon tax thing. Let's see where this goes.

Follow the link and you'll see that a global, totalitarian economic system based on carbon is already being prepared for us.

Alot of information at that link. I followed it to:
"Reorganizing A Continent "
by Wilton Ivie
1958
www.technocracy.org...

Before attempting to comment on Technocracy's projected reorganization of the Continent, we might try to visualize this Continental area without social organization of any kind (although we realize that such a condition could be only hypothetical). Under such a condition, each individual would be free of all social regulation as well as benefits, being a truly rugged, anarchistic individual. An individual might be respectful of the "rights'' of others or might be predatory and homicidal in behavior. There would be no law or other control over that person, other than the possibility of reprisal by individuals.

Brings to mind the "man of lawlessness" quote from the Bible.

or, you can see a global movement to fight carbon (the beast) with some trying to derail and allow the beast to continue to consume the world environment
I guess it all depends on what side of religious fanaticism you want to be on...but anyone whom wants to stick it to those whom destroy the environment in massive ways in order to make cheap plastic crap toys and trinkets, I am all for.

So anything that is `carbon-based` is evil? That would mean all life on earth is evil! And being human is evil, too!

I'm not implying that by any means.

Well, except for the high probability that the number is actually 616, its a good theory.

en.wikipedia.org...

The early Church father Irenaeus knew several occurrences of the 616-variant but regarded them as a scribal error and affirmed that the number 666 stood "in all the most approved and ancient copies" and is attested by "those men who saw John face to face".[17]. This testimony of Irenaeus is very important, because he was a disciple of Polycarp who according to his followers was a disciple of a certain John, a figure often associated with the evangelist.
Red arrow points to χιϛʹ (616) in P115 deciphered in May 2005.

In May 2005, it was reported that scholars at Oxford University using advanced imaging techniques[18] had been able to read previously illegible portions of the earliest known record of the Book of Revelation (a 1,700 year old papyrus), from the Oxyrhynchus site, Papyrus 115 or P115, dating one century after Irenaeus. The fragment gives the Number of the Beast as 616 (χ ι ϛ), rather than the majority text 666 (χ ξ ϛ).[1] The other early witness Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus (C) has it written in full: hexakosiai deka hex (lit. six hundred sixteen).[19]

Significantly, P115 aligns with Codex Alexandrinus (A) and Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus (C) which are generally regarded as providing the best testimony to Revelation. Thus, P115 has superior testimony to that of P47 which aligns with Codex Sinaiticus and together form the second-best witness to the Book of Revelation. This has led some scholars to conclude that 616 is the original number of the beast.

Those are the earliest copies, so......................it certainly makes it quite probable that the later versions are wrong. (Though not certain beyond all doubt.)

Got any good elements for 616?

Certainly debatable.

If true...maybe an isotope...

I tend to trust Irenaeus, though.

The only question left for me is: "How will participation in this new carbon-based economic system equate to a rejection of the Christ?"

Well, that depends on which prophecy you read, and which one you choose to believe in.

And, where people look for coincidences and hidden meanings, they will eventually find them.

What's amazing to me is how many people become absorbed in "decoding" certain texts only to die never figuring it out, kind of like so many people want the rapture to happen ("feel it coming") in their time. It's like a never-ending story and puzzle. Maybe that's the whole point: just to keep your mind occupied and entertained.

Oh, by the way. Christ / Jesus is nothing but a solar allegory. That's been pointed out in that hugely popular Zeitgeist film. I've also heard Jordan Maxwell talk about where the name "Christ" came from in the first place. (From cristos, or "oiled" / "annoited"...oil floats on water, so "christ" "walks" / floats on water.) I don't agree with some things Jordan says, but those things I've just mentioned do check out. (Ever wonder why that margarine is called CRISco?)

Mankind has the natural tendency to evil. Since we are born, we need constantly rules to guide us to the good path, but even with those rules and laws, we continue to feel atracted to the "sweet" evil things. We have jails, armed police, soldiers, alarm systems....but that's not enough.

Only God has the power to control this "tendency to evil" we have. So....yes, we are evil. All problems and sufferings we have are provided by ourself.

Apologize ahead for any mistake (English).

That is awesome. I never knew carbon had 6 of everything in it. It only makes sense if you really think about it. Great find.

I have to agree. Whether it's "666" or "616," the important part is the "600."

and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

6 + 6 + 6 = 18, which is nowhere near 600.

It was an interesting theory, but I think the Number of the Beast is more a reference to a specific person than to a carbon atom.

Well, Nitrogen is the basis for the air - or heaven in ancient terms.
The "pure" nitrogen atom has 7 electrons, 7 protons and 7 neutrons.
And 777 is the number of Jesus.

In the rapture, we will meet Jesus in the AIR!

WOW!
Once in a great while someone finds a piece of the puzzle in plain sight. Thank you! I think you are spot on and ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

This cap and trade crap sounds just like what is mentioned in the bible:

No man may buy or sell but that he has the mark of the beast.

I'm sure they will introduce biometric identification along with the carbon tax - that would definitely make that biblical prophecy come true!

I don't think the "hundred" part is important. I think it's one of many unintentional mistranslations of the KJV.

Neither do I think that the number is merely a reference to a specific person. The context clues reveal this to us. (The "riddle" about "here is wisdom", etc.)

I don't think the answers lie in numerology or any other "superstitious" sources.

Atomic number is commonly understood today but in John's time, if the knowledge even existed on Earth, it would have been the height of "esoteric".

The periodic table of the elements reads like a divine tablet of revelation about the order of creation. What better place to seek clues about divine numeric riddles?
