All i can say is for a store mounted camera its shaking an awful lot. Second, to me it looks like a person walking and then climbing- a transparent film of a person that was cut into the other. I am going with Bogus on this one. But this is my opinion and your free to believe what you will

Watch this video.

www.youtube.com...

The bug theory is far fetched but "it's a ghost" isn't? Ok.

Very good example of how a bug in front of the lens looks like in recorded video. The bug (probably a fly) moves all around the lens very "buggy like".

But you have to admit that for this video to be of a bug, it would have to move in a very peculiar way to appear to be a "person figure" walking around the floor before "going upstairs".

And no, "VHS ghost effect" doesn't stick either. For starters, the video appears to present digital video artifacts wich you can see at .03 sec on the guy on the bottom right corner of the video. Witch would indicate that the video is digital and maybe transmitted with WiFi. OF course I could be wrong.

As for the reflection, wouldn't we see another things getting reflected too?
IDK.

Just to be clear, I don't believe it's a ghost or a "shadow person" or whatever. IMHO the surveilence video has been tampered, so I would call it a HOAX. This effect could be achieved in After Effects with no great effort.

Here's what I think:
The real thing: 5%;
Bug on lens: 10%;
VHS "ghost effect": 0%;
Some reflection: 15%;
HOAX: 70%.

The following is not directed at anyone in particular, just my opinion of what I generally see not just in this thread, but in most of the threads actually.

IDK what is it with these people calling themselves skeptics just because they don't believe anything supernatural, E.T. or whatever.

Just as a remainder, the definition of the word "skeptic" is:

One who instinctively or habitually doubts, questions, or disagrees with assertions or generally accepted conclusions.

www.thefreedictionary.com/skeptic

So, to call yourself a skeptic, you must first have an open mind to question not only other's beliefs but your very own beliefs too. This is my humble opinion on how a real skeptic should behave.

And people, please, please, read the posts and watch the video closely before posting things like"It's not CCTV because the camera is shacking" or even saying "it's 100% bug people, you need glasses". Thank you for your opinion, but let the others who are still in doubt have a healthy discussion please.

Thank you.

The title of the video should be...

"Out of focus bug caught on surv camera in gas station. New"

it lands on lens...
moves quickly over...
then moves to top left of lens and sits there...

BUG

edit to add: It's a bug

I work surveillance in a casino.

The camera could be behind a dome. Like these A bug on the dome following the bubbled contours could easily give this effect. Also, giving the effect of the "ghost" going up and down the picture. If that camera was a PTZ and a live operator tried to zoom in on the "ghost" it would get fuzzier and appear to dissipate.

Either way, my experience tells me: 100% Bug.

You thought gives me a thought...

It is obvious to me that this is a bug...
But...who is to say that this bug may be a ghost bug?

Or a bug from another dimension...hmmm

that is good!

i'm gonna watch it again a few times
it looks very much like what my instinct says "energy" looks like - but i've never seen anything even close to this with my own

I would think "energy" might "look" different, but who knows. I was thinking maybe something more along the lines of a "Shadow Person?" Though I wouldn't know because I have never seen one. Maybe others that have might have a clue to That at least!

Either way though, intelligent spirits exist as energy. Thus, it is inevitable that what we're seeing is either a direct manifestation of energy or a direct effect of it.

Dark "shadow" forms (I hate calling them shadow people) are one of the most common visual manifestations of paranormal activity from what research I've conducted over the last 5 years.

What we are seeing in this video could still be a residual haunting which would be hinted at by the movements of the shadow form up and to the left. Although we must also assume intelligent manifestations of spirit energy can move through walls and travel wherever they want regardless of whether or not this presumed staircase ever existed.

There are many other videos like this one appearing to show the same kind of partially-transparent humanoid forms. Some of them almost appearing to wear cloaks, hats, etc..

At Fort Mifflin, TAPS (Ghost Hunters) caught a manifestation of thermal energy resembling a moving, basketball-sized blob with small appendages dangling about. Just goes to show how wide-ranging paranormal phenomenon can get.

Sometimes these dark, semi-transparent forms can manifest into a solid figure complete with hair, face stubble, eyes, nose, etc... The Ghost Hunters investigation at Fort Mifflin is a famous example of how detailed and real these spirits can be visually. Of coarse, appearing right in front of your face is something else entirely.. I would've reacted just like Grant did!

No, my roommate can make that in about 4-5 hrs with the right stock footage.

Next.

now that I think about it ...

it could be a reflection of a bug on a ghost making it look like its going upstairs @ a haunted gas station ...who knows who's behind the camera.

Gotta say this is one of the better videoes I've seen of Ghosts, I'll be showing everyone at work about this one when I get there. We love all this kinda stuff. Nice find.

Wow, I wish I worked with you guys, I'm considered the "weird one" where I work because of my interest in this stuff.

More on topic, I expected a bad fake when I saw the topic title, but this is fairly convincing, especially considering the fact that it seems to be climbing non-existent stairs.

I would love to find out if stairs were once in that spot. That would make it even more convincing to me.

Ok, I didn't read through six pages of bug vs shadow person vs ghost so forgive me if this has been pointed out already.

When the "thing" paused before going up to the left, you can see a shadow on the floor next to the "shadow". You have to look for it but it is there. I tend to lean towards the reflection of a person elsewhere in the store due to that.

My first thoughts were about there being a potential shadow on the floor too. That is the only query about the video I have, otherwise I tend to fall in with the bug theory.
Those that are so sure it is not a bug are way off the mark I reckon, their conviction makes them sound mental, especially when they sit on one of those other theories (bearing in mind that there is some proof that bugs exist, as opposed to ghosts)

To those writing about VHS bleed and reflections, can they provide an example please? not theoretical examples - Videos, like that one of the bug on the camera with that guy jumping into the water

good video.

This is just my opinion, but no way was that a bug!!!

Yes, the footage may have been tampered with and what we're seeing is a hoax, or it may not be. But as i said, i definitely don't think that's a bug.

How often does a surveillance camera pan zoom and tilt??? Is that a serious question in this thread. Good lord.

Its pretty clear that they are videotaping the surveillance playback. You can even see the monitor towards the end.

Also, I have done photography my whole life. That does not look anything like a bug. Bugs also usually don't appear out of nowhere and then appear to have personifying characteristics.

This would be cool if it really is real... however I recall a film project I worked on in college were we managed to get a similar effect...sooo I know it can be faked.

WOW! That was a great video! Definately much more realistic than the videos on those ghost shows that VERY rarely find something and ends up being unclear anyway.

you could be right, but surveillance lenses are so small that a fly would cover the whole screen.

If by "haunted" you mean that time as we know it is an illusion, and sometimes as objects/energy moves around in existence it can leave or project quantum "echoes" that we can perceive or record, then, yes.

Definitely an insect of some sorts landing on the camera lens. Due to the extreme closeness it is out of focus and the "see-through effect" comes from the very normal way closeup objects on a distance focus setting gets blurry and see through.

Not a ghost.

A bug.

Even the movements are consistent with an insect.

Have faith and ask your room mate.
I'm sure the better time estimate would be around 10 minutes.

Point the camera. Start it. If you have wideangle - use it. Focus on something about ten meters (about 33 feet) away. Pass something very small like a dead mosquito hanging from a thin (split) sewing thread past the lens at a distance of about one centimeter. Mimick the motions on the OP video.
Tadah.
