U.S. deploys missiles in Poland, may dampen relations with Russia

English.news.cn 2010-05-26 21:56:49 FeedbackPrintRSS

BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- A battery of U.S. Patriot missiles and more than 100 soldiers have arrived in Morag, north-western Poland, prompting concern from Russia.

The move will have lasting impact on security in the region and may dampen the United States and Poland's relations with Russia, analysts say.

So, in short order after the Gulf of Mexico BP disaster, we have Patriot Missiles in Poland, 46 Navy ships to Costa Rica (evacuated) to help with the "war on drugs" from a president who, judging from Arizona, isn't really all that much into the war on drugs, and Tomahawk missiles off of China.
I'm making this post because it dawned on me this morning that these are connected as follows:
Only a few months ago Obama reneged on his promise to put defenseve missiles in Poland. Now, without fanfare, there they are.
Obama is a notorious bowing appeaser in the foreign policy arena, so to move several submarines specially modified to carry a maximum payload of cruise missiles, he must have some real reason to fear their offensive capabilities (He's a little late to the party).
And 46, again FORTY-SIX US ships of war to Costa Rica to fight the war on drugs? Very odd, when the president doesn't seem to be concerned about conceding Arizona to narco-terrorists.
From Appearances, this move indicates that the navy is moving most assets from the gulf, out of fear of a methane release/tsunami. A national disaster of this magnitude would be an inviting opportunity for our enemies to make a move (never let a chrisis go to waste, as the admin. puts it), hence a bold defensive statement to both the Russians and Chinese, in anticipation of such.
I hope there's another reason for these "random and unassociated" happenings, but I can't think of any. All these moves are extremely out of character for this president. And perhaps the reason for the elimination of the first ammendment in the gulf is that we are compelled not to tip off what may come to pass to our enemies as we make preperations. This has me concerned. What about you?

Strange. I woke this morning with the same dot connecting. I just had a different objective for the troops to Costa Rica.
If I had intent to make war or even just bomb the Iranian nuke facilities, I would, in addition to the posting of vessels in the waters off of Iran,
project strength in the Russian and Chinese waters.
protect the valuable asset of the Panama canal even if it took a massive landing of troops. Disruption of the canal's operations could be done with a ground assualt or submarine's missile launch and that is what assets are in place.

All this seemingly not related activity raises many red flags to me. What is going on? What are they preparing for? Do I really want to know? It's all building up to something. I don't think we are going to like it!
Thanks for posting.

I've noticed a huge uptick in military activity in both my area (and I've been traveling a lot lately) and on the news. Troop buildups everywhere... Iran and Israel disappear from the news while everyone quietly prepares?

Interesting hypothesis Astrogolf. It would be helpful to know what ports these 46 ships came from.
I passed through Norfolk Va last weekend and there were 3 carriers parked and no visible activity, even military air trafiic which is odd for that area.
I had wondered if they were moving all our assets offshore in order to clear the way for UN troops (which now includes china).
One way or the other we'll discover the truth soon enough I fear. Charlie Rangel just introduced a bill to reinstate the draft. They're not getting my kids! (I have 4 draft-age sons).
I'll be checking back on this thread to see what else comes up.

I have to go to work now, but someone may try and find out the force that was used to take Noreiga. My suspicion is that this one is larger.

I think your right. This combination of troop build-up indicates the US may be about to do something that Russia and China don't like... like bomb Iran.

Just a propaganda excercise in military might from the empire, 4th of july, new commander in afghanistan etc. Lets just show the world that despite of our economy going bankrupt and completly destroying the southern [and more than likely the eastern] seaboards of our nation, its all fine! cause we have GUNS GUNS GUNS!!!

I have four draft-age sons, too. As a parent, it's frightening.

I've read that the different military branches have met their recruiting goals due to the lack of jobs. So...the military is not having a shortage, but yet the draft still needs to be reinstated?

are there any indications as to the composition of the fleet what ships how many of each class "warship" can be anything from a pt boat to a nuclear carrier so if we could get specifics that would be amazing.(are they cutters or cruisers destroyers or frigates etc)

what other major points of interest are in that area other then the cannal? I mean they have LOTS of freshwater and arable land and what not but what else of strategic importance

wonder if its related to this www.independentonsaturday.co.za...

article says they just found a dirty bomb destined for the black market

way to much going on in the world for my likeing

editt: think that fleet has anything to do with chaveze nationalizeing american oil rigs and refinerys?

are we getting our fleets out of port so that a false flag or do we have intel on a possible attack on one of our naval bases (ala pearl harbor but with dirty bomb or nuke?)

wow i missed soemthing in the article it was captured in africa not new zealand i got confused by the link to the news being FROM NZ not about it sorry for any confusion!

If I recall correctly.. Missle shields in Poland are claimed to be able to take down any missles launched from Iran.. Sounds like they are either now setup or in the midst of getting them ready...

Then you have the recent South Korean ship thought to be sunk by a North Korean Torpedo... (Who really knows for sure?) Now a whole bunch of US subs are in the asian region..

7,000 troops and 46 ships sent to Costa Rica.. For the claimed purpose of fighting drugs...Funny how it's also very close to Venezuela... Not too long ago I also recall the president of Iran visiting Venezuela, along with a Russian war ship and the President of Russia visiting around the same time.

Then you have the recently claimed dry run of Israel using Saudi Airspace to take out Iran's enrichment facilities..

Now we have a recent UFO that shut down a Chinese airport.. Which according to some people looks to be a United States ICBM that we were testing.. (Sounds pretty scary testing an ICBM so close to China.. If that is actually what it was.)

To me it seems like we are in a game of military chess, where the US is placing it's pieces to achieve a strategically planned check mate on the Axis of Evil.

I believe those ships and submarines are similiar to the pawns in the first moves of chess...

"Oh those 46 ships and 7,000 troops.. Yeah they're just in the area to fight drugs.. that's all no other purpose at all trust me.." Then WWIII hits, and you were in position the whole time...

It's funny how all of this is unraveling around the same time as BP oil spill.. Makes me wonder even more about peak oil...

Just my 2 cents...

We're probably just guarding all the oil and gas chokepoints (Strait of Hormuz, Panama Canal, Asian ports) in case there are "incidents" with any or all combinations of Iran, Venezuela, N. Korea. After all, it's the U.S. military's job to make sure that stuff keeps flowing to Asia.

Did you guys mention the 3-4 carrier groups off the strait and/or in the Red Sea near the Suez Canal?

Also, those 46 warships are apparently these...

Most of the ships are frigates and have a length of 135 meters, with capacity to carry two SH -60 helicopter gunships or HH- 60B,or Black Hawk and 200 marines and 15 officers each.

Other ships, such as Making USS Island have the capacity to carry 102 officers, 1449 sailors , are armored , and can carry 42 CH -46 helicopters , five AV-8B Harrier aircraft and six helicopters Black Hawks.

From this thread...
