Was wondering if anybody heard about this story that took place back in Topsham England - 1885 : Myth or Fact?

Imagine awakening one cold February morning and looking out upon the wintry horizon. As you view the heavy blanket of snow that has freshly fallen, you are startled to find strange hoof-shaped prints scattered across the countryside.

On the morning of February 8th, 1885 residents in the county of Devon, England discovered this very phenomenon. The prints themselves were U shaped and measured to be 4 inches long by 2 inches wide. They were also found to be 8 inches apart, made in-line with one another, indicating that a 2-legged creature created them. The tracks spanned a hundred mile course through the towns of Topsham, Lympstone, Exmouth, Dawlish and Teignmouth.

That's very odd... that balloon theory at the end was just crazy though! I think a person could have done them somehow though... unless a snow covered town is like the devil's vacation. He was probable just looking for some hot chocolate.

Wow, that's so weird... I've heard that story before though, I think on TV a few years back. I think that the prints turned out to be animal tracks of somekind but I can't remember....

that episode remains a mistery yet. what puzzles more the people is the "prints" goes in the walls and in the roofs too.not only in the ground.

quadricle,

I remember this story, from a collection of "spooky" stories.
It was a book I bought from the "Weekly Reader" book club,
In elementary school. I was bout 9 years old at the time.
There were another 10 or 12 stories in this book as well. But I distinctly remember this one, and one other, about a
family Ghost. But, as I recall the story was just as you told it

Chubacharra,
A mysterious 2 legged creature that has been plaquing the outlands of Chile...Known as 'Goat Sucker" as they preffer goats and small animals.
Appearantly they tried the cooler areas first ..being discribed was having some reptilian features its not surprising.

Personally, I dont believe in it. A story that old has probably gone from one thing to another...

And IF it really happened, it was probably just some guy on stilts with hoves on 'em.

i actually believe its called Chupacobra

but on the subject on the foot prints, i actually heard about this a while ago and there are many sources for it. I dont believe they are the devils foot prints but something did happen and it is deffinately unnatural.

Heres an exert from - www.spartechsoftware.com...

The tracks covered a 100-mile course zigzagging from Topsham southward to the town of Totnes. Each of the prints were exactly 8 1/2 inches apart and measured 4 inches long by 2 3/4 inches wide. The prints were U-shaped. Some indicate that the tracks had a split in the middle indicating a cloven hoof. The prints were made in-line with each other further indicating that they were made by a 2-legged animal. Each of the prints were extremely clear, as if they had been 'branded' into the snow (could this have been caused by freezing rain on top of the new snow?).
