Bp is setting a new goal of having the well plugged by July 27th. This is also the day BP meets with it's investor's to discuss 2nd quarter earnings. Part of me goes "huh?", and part of me thinks it makes sense, money wise. I guess money can do both good and bad and in this case it is motivating expediency.....sad but good?
I don't know but the sooner the better with ending this disaster.

BP PLC is pushing to fix its runaway Gulf oil well by July 27, possibly weeks before the deadline the company is discussing publicly, in a bid to show investors it has capped its ballooning financial liabilities, according to company officials.
At the same time, BP is readying a series of backup plans in case its current operations go awry. These include connecting the rogue well to existing pipelines in two nearby underwater gas and oil fields, according to company and administration officials.
The July 27 target date is the day the company is expected to report second-quarter earnings and will speak to investors. BP also wants to show progress by July 20, the day U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron is scheduled to visit the White House

Here are a few recent pics from Time Magazine:

Edit to add:
BP had a 7 hour meeting to discuss back up plans and evaluated previous mistakes as well as what risks are involved now.

At Wednesday's trip to the spill site, Mr. Dudley and Adm. Allen evaluated a prospect for controlling the spill—a newly designed cap to replace the leaky one currently directing oil to ships on the surface.

The risk: removing the old cap could exacerbate the spill in the short run.

At the administration's prodding, BP created a new device called an "autonomous subsea dispersant system." Environmental Protection Agency head Lisa Jackson told BP to create such a capability to monitor and measure chemicals used underwater to break up the oil. The large volume of dispersants used has concerned scientists and some government officials.

In recent days, the company has installed new battery-powered equipment on the ocean floor that will inject dispersant into the flowing well. Typically, the dispersants are controlled by ships on the surface, but they may have to move if storms hit.

Is it pathetic that when I saw this post, the very first thing that came to my mind was...
remember way back when, in the olden days? You know, 70 some-odd days ago? when we uses to ask each other a very similar question?

"could the oil spill be stopped this DAY?"

Contrary to what the fear-mongering, doomsday cult recently formed on this board would have you believe, yes it is looking like this catastrophe will finally move into purely the clean up and restoration phase by the end of this month.

There is no way, even if they could I bet they wouldn't or they would have by now.

my crystal ball says no it wont be stopped for many months from now. They are saying the relief wells are going to be there by the 27th.. however they have to hit the existing well pipe from 15000 feet above.. I don't think they will do it , heck they have problems lowering a cap onto the well head and thats not even in rock, thats in water.

Its like threading a needle thats on the ground from the roof of your house!

If they do pull this off first shot, I'll be flabbergasted. It would be great, but in my reality I highly doubt it.

And the ocean will be clean by Christmas. Nothing to worry about really. fish, crab and shrimping boats will back in business like nothing ever happened. Oh and the damage to the Louisiana marshes will begin to reverse days after the oil stops flowing.

Wake the hell up!

How dare you call concerned citizens and affected individuals of this disaster a "fear-mongering, doomsday cult"

No one knows what to think because its all a dog an pony show right now. Nothing but lies and damage control. Do you not blame people for being a little freaked out?

People have lost their lives over this. Fishermen are worrying about how to feed their families and people have their children walking through the sludge on the beaches because the media keeps saying everything is OK.

Right now officials are more worried about losing tourist dollars than they are about the potential health risks associated with the chemicals that are polluting our beaches.

I guess since its not in your bubble its not that big of a deal.

I think it'll stop in August, as per the... *cough*... "prophecy" (indeed
)
April 20- 5 months later- August 20 to the day I bet

"1 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit." Rev 9:1

"2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power." Rev 9:2,3

"4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them." Rev 9:4-6

Talk about putting words in my mouth. It seems you'd rather argue with yourself, since you're doing a fine job of speaking for me.

With the help of the new giant boat, I still don't think that the oil spill be cleaned up by the end of this month.
It only takes 1 gallon of motor oil to ruin 100 gallons of water.

I was being facetious in response to your untactful post.

Try to be a little more sensitive. Its only natural to be a bit confused about all of the information going around.

You could have left out the "fear-mongering, doomsday cult recently formed on this board "part

Could The Oil Spill Be Stopped This Month?

Yeah, sure, if the thieves can make money off of anything, including the death of the Gulf of Mexico, I'm sure TPTB can come up with something, like cold hard cash, to cover for the clean-up. It's amazing how the price of gasoline seems to keep going up.

What is the current volume, anyway - estimates increased EVERY single time we got an update - I haven't heard anything in a few days. It's amazing how time will make people forget and care less (yet, it is likely worse than it's ever been)

Thanks for the replies guys, I know it is hard to be hopeful in resolving this crisis, but it has to start with plugging the well, then the long process of cleanup.
The fear mongering mentioned is understandable, but DR makes a good point that this is truly an epic event and I think there have been mistakes and neglect along the way. But criticism of the debacle can't all be considered fear mongering, that's too broad of a stroke, imo. We can only judge by what we see and read and of course there will be emotional response, as there will always be when it comes to destruction of our environment and the suffering of people and wildlife.
I'm not sure of the current volume SN, it changes so often and it seems they can't give an accurate number.
Again, let's hope this is a tipping point towards resolving the situation by first stopping the geyser, and if money is the motivation for some in the industry, so be it, just get it done!

Peace

There is something going on down below the gulf. The ROV's are very active:

www.sanaracreations.fi...

I'd like to at least see them cap more oil, because right now there is 80,000 barrels of oil leaking out per day.....

I would not count on it working at all.. I trust I can be proven otherwise...incorrect!

However the scope of this, not looking good from day one!

globalresearch.ca...

www.iris.edu...

I'm certain, someone ask this question, should we do this? Even if we can.

This Outcome of failure... it's obvious now!

Continue to watch the Gulf coast regions regarding more activity on Earth Quakes.. Small now, however....
Touch your mouse on the lines, it will give history!

Excellent links Jesse, much thanks!

I would like to see a comparative historical chart so that I can determine if indeed there are more quakes happening and/or with more intensity.

The last 2 days I have talked with about 25 different people on this subject and almost all of them have little to no faith in this thing getting fixed now, or August for that matter. So many people are expecting the worse, including a significant and suspicious part of me. But there is another part in me that wants to think all that can be done is being done and we can get this thing contained this Summer. There is just too much to lose for everybody if we can't get the well plugged.

And the crop circle....well I would love to think there is a cosmic connection between our current events and some intelligent designers giving us signs of things to come, but I don't know if I can give that notion much credibility.
For the record though, I personally do think some cropcircles are true mysteries and continue to be fascinated by them.

Thanks for chiming in,
Peace

No worries SO, Just like to put thoughts out there.
Wish I could give you the previous charts, I know there is a record, I'm just going by what I have watched in the last year. The Gulf region is my concern.
In regards to those cropcircles... It's a tough call to make, design, art,or some sort of insight that we need to look closer at. (Man made or Otherwise)
Apply it to current issues with this Oil Crisis? Might be worth looking at!
Wasted alot of time here already with attempts made thus far.
I don't get a warm fuzzy on our current attempts to feel good about this wishful thinking to cap this.
I do get a contentiously draining of my soul as a result of this mistake.
At the same time I think (some) of (their) current insight, efforts are A$$ backwards.

Money before life! Sad outcome I'd say.

Thanks OP/SO, for being you!

Jesse.
