What stance? Political sanctions? We aren't taking a military stance, no matter what ATS members spew. And there is no military buildup aside from the troops we already have in the region.

Doesn't sound like "business as usual" to me. I think people here are informed enough to make their own opinions on the matter. My "stance" stays the same.

A year from now we'll STILL be talking about a US military strike against Iran. And a year after that. And so on.

Yes, the presumption is you would kill me if given the chance because you hate me for things I've done in the past. Also, my preemptive strike is to keep you from being able to kill me, not kill you.

10-4, i read that israel will not be messed with, and after those three wars or four, they look awesome. the details of the battles will make a bible believer out of you. it's a God thing. seriously if you heard the patrol leaders tell what they thought they saw right before they ran away crying....in the battle for jerusalem. when some israeli soldiers were trapped in town...other worldly stuff they saw

Like I said, blind freddy can see where this is all heading

A lot of people agree on this. We really cannot do much, the fuse has been lit, so to speak.

I hope you are right. I really do. If you're right, and a year from now we're still blathering on about a war with Iran, and nothing has changed, consider me in debt to you for a pitcher of beer. Seriously.

Beer sounds grand to me, my friend!

And if I'm wrong, the same for you from me.

Speaking of beer, what ever happened to the Obama who sat those two guys down and had a beer with them? It's like he's been replaced by a droid who doesn't smile.

Then again, if I had to manage the free world with the stock market the way it is, and the worst oil disaster in history, I guess I'd be chugging KEGS!

No one can know if the war will happen until it does.. Or those military Generals that plan this racket called "war". They'll sure know.

Point is, all this posturing and military maneuvers, constant diabolical propaganda against Iran, MSM "rumors" of war, ex-world leaders warning of imminent war, tough economic sanctions.....

If its not heading for war then where is it heading? Someone please explain to me, if you are SO sure an Iran war will never take place.... What is going to be the outcome of all this?

You either believe:

A.) This will all be resolved diplomatically. Iran will bow down to the pressure from the US and Israel and cease all uranium enrichment, never to return to such endeavors. (Extremely unlikely)

B.) The threats, the sanctions, the rumors of military build up, the warnings of imminent war, all the political propaganda will go around and around and around for years and years to come. It it will never cease, it'll just go around forever. (Defies logic. What's the point of all this?)

It CAN'T go on forever. The United States doesn't have forever. The world doesn't have forever. It's absurd to think "Nothing will come from this"

There will have to be an inevitable end result.. things like this don't just continue to build and build for all eternity. Something has to give. There must be a planned end result.

It surely must be war. What else is it going to be?

I doubt anything serious would happen. Iran would be destroyed in a serious war with America, but that wouldn't happen. It would be petty fighting, with the USA bombing a few nuclear sites, and Iran bombing a few USA ships & planes. No one wants to look like the bad guy anymore.

Did everyone forget the Iran election-riots? A very large percentage of the Iranian population hates their government. They hate the Ayatollah. They hate being forced to dress a certain way, act a certain way, etc.. At least 30-40% of the population would support America in a war.

What would Ahmadinejad do to handle that situation? Of course, it would likely cause a civil war, ending with either an even more strict Islamic government, or a secular government.

I'd say that American support is about to be cut short with the new sanctions.

It's going to effect the civilians before the Islamic government

star and flag!
No doubt that the course is laid and the ships in tow. Iran is the next target of the United States Empire. I hope they take enough resources that at home the revolution to install the constitution will succeed.

I have no knowledge of such revolution, but I can't believe that it isn't in progress.. If I were in the military now I would know of patriots vs robots.

The most powerful empire to have ever existed on Earth is collapsing. It is crumbling under HUGE debt and spread thin in bloody and losing wars... Traits too often seen in world history of an empire in it's death throes.

The coming war on Iran is about resources. It will be a resource war, pure and simple. As is Iraq and Afghanistan. (Oil and Rare Earth minerals).

I believe the truth is we as a globe have already hit the dreaded (and controversial) Peak Oil. Easy to get, cheap oil is a sure thing of the past... The United States peaked their oil production in 1970.

The US government is fully aware of Peak Oil and the inevitable crash of industrialized civilization as a result... Dick Cheney new about it at least as far back as the late 90's and put together an investigation as to how much oil is really left and who has it. He knew what was coming.

Iran are as much of a "terrorist" threat and a "nuclear" threat as is my 80 year old neighbor named Janice. The only threat Iran poses to the US and Israel is it's security and progress during these turbulent times.

"Get rid of Iran, get control of it's oil, control the Middle-East and we'll decide who eats and who starves"

IMO thats all its coming down to

[edit on 7-7-2010 by Nomad451]

Exactly. I read somewhere that the oil reserves figure that is put by the oil giants is not a precise number but is rather an estimate. Also, when an empire collapses, it is often bloody in nature. Iran is just a stepping stone towards the huge reserves of natural gas/hydrocarbons located in that region. War, politics and propaganda are tools to reach that goal. Welcome to East India company 2010.

Well its that time again Summer really is setting in its getting hot and everybody is freaking out.

OH NO WWIII
we have seen this same thing for the last few years now and war was suppose to start years ago because you all said it was well no war, not yet anyways.

I betting on closer to 2012 if war does happen unless really gets a itchy trigger finger.

We were suppose to be at war with North Korea too last year for testing a nuke never came to war.

If we go to war it will be about the time we pull out of Afganastan.

I now its going to happen but who really cares we can't stop it, our government is out of control and thier will be something that happens in the homeland before it goes down likely.

Just vote Obama out in 2012 and maybe we will get a real president before we go to war again.

It took America almost a decade to cripple Iraq enough to feel secure about invading it.

It would take near a lifetime to cripple Iran to make it viable for invasion and occuption

Plus the fact the U.S and NATO are pretty much getting there asses handed to them in Afghanistan it be pretty suicidal trying to attack Iran. Its just good old saber rattling and gunboat diplomacy.

I love how we impose rules on so many as if we are afraid of them, when our government does more bullying/killing then another other country in the world.

Id say there will be no military action, because with all the mountains in iran im gonna guess they have the nukes already.

and nukes have only been used by us, nobody else is stupid enough to anymore. Sure iran wants to blow up isreal (these days im starting to see why) but anyone who sends the nukes flying will automatically have some flying back at them, same reason things never blew up with us vs russia or cuba.

its just more of us imposing our will....becoming the very country we fought so hard to free ourselfs from in the first place.

I know it's fiction, but the recent book, "One Second After" is food for thought. It's about a nuclear weapon exploded in the upper atmosphere over the US. There would be no radiation, but the effects would be devastating. The surge from an EMP (electro-magnetic-pulse) attack would knock out all types of power, including cars, planes, cell phone, etc.
If this were to happen, most people wouldn't realize it at first.
Does Iran have this capability? Gawd, I hope not. Is it possible? Afraid so.

But, I think things will be cool for awhile. I think the plan is, for the rest of the year is to make Americans think 'it's all good!' Then Bam! Jan 1,2011 Cap & Trade begins to tax us to the brink, coupled with 20%plus unemployment, a natural disaster or two, then, uh oh, prices on everything skyrockets bringing us to our knees. The govt wants to weed out the middle class from the elite. Only the strong & prepared will stand a chance against the elite. If you don't live in a ½ million dollar house without a worry, then U may be elite. Me-not elite, just awake.
