Fur coats serve as protection. Many animals can and do sunburn.

YES.

However, cancer incidence in animals and indiginous human populations are miniscule, comparitively speaking.

You have to remember, though, animals don't care about being tan--so they don't lay out under the sun to look sexier--and they don't party at the pool/beach subjecting themselves to damaging sunburns.

Burning is the problem...and when animals begin to burn they seek shelter. We don't. We simply lather ourselves with chemicals and let the party continue.
