Thanks for that and for pointing him to this thread.

Too bad he posted the video again on YouTube, that way we are still getting what YouTube "thinks" is enough to show a good image.

Iv`e seen something that resembles that alot...Im from Cardiff, Wales.
The thing i saw moved the exact way and shot off very fast.

Interesting.

This looks very familiar!

Very similar to the pods on War of the worlds except i think this one is flying horizontally!
The speed is intriguing and i would say its easily traveling 1000+ MPH.

Definitely an Alien craft IMO. I have seen nothing earthly like this which can travel at such speeds.

This is a very interesting piece of footage indeed and matches almost exactly to what I saw just over a week ago.

On Tuesday 29th June at around midnight I was at my friends house smoking in the back garden with her about midnight, as we were chatting we both spotted a fast moving object that looked exactly like the object in the video although it was much lower (the cloud base was quite low at the time) and was extremely bright. It took about 4-5 seconds to move across the sky from SW to NE and was MUCH faster than a plane but slightly slower than a shooting star, and seemed much larger than any plane that could've been in the area (we were 1.5 miles east of Birmingham Airport).

There is something going on that is about to reveal itself lately, and its bigger than we can contimplate. I am a logical person who tries to seek out a resnoble explanation for everything and this really has me stumped.

Whats happened to PsychoX42 and Britwarrior

I take it this was to much for them so they stopped posting
because this was a bit to much for them as it shows they
haven't got a clue about that objects height!

How is it traveling 1000+ mph look at the video a few posts back if it was doing a 1000 mph he would have not got it into view.

You have NOTHING to compare it to to work out its speed YOU dont know the size of the object!

You just don't know. It's out of focus. Same person saw it, filmed it, put it on youtube.. Mystery lives on.

Since it's taken in infrared, what we're seeing is a heat signature.

The footage was taken with the "night shot" mode on a camcorder". This means the camera was sensitive to the entire visible portion of the spectrum and part of the near infrared portion of the spectrum. The CMOS or CCD focal plain array (imaging chip) which is used in camcorders are not sensitive to the far infrared (or "thermal") portion of the spectrum thus the footage does not represent a "heat signature" of the object.

As I do not have a camera with night vision, does anyone know how does a red object look like

Because different materials will have different reflective properties in the NIR portion of the spectrum than they do in the visible portion of the spectrum they may vary significantly in appearance when viewed with a camera in night mode even though they are the same color. In other words, one red object may appear bright in the NIR part of the spectrum while another red object may appear dark.

That being said, more often than not a red object will appear bright at NIR wavelengths because it reflects a large portion of the nearby red portion of the spectrum and thus will have similar reflective properties in the NIR portion of the spectrum. Also in the case of a camcorder in "night mode" the reflection of NIR light is being supplemented by the reflection of red light since the camcorder is sensitive to both and is not capable of distinguishing between the two.

Here is an example of differences in reflective properties of same color objects. This is a pair of black pants with a black belt attached. In visible light the pants and belt appear to be the same color:

However if I add the NIR portion of the spectrum The belt appears black and the pants appear white:

The type of light exposing the object has an affect as well. The above image was taken with natural light. The picture below was taken with light from florescent bulbs. These florescent bulbs do not produce much NIR light so the pants appear darker:

Thank you for clarifying that issue. Nevertheless, it does look suspiciously like a balloon.

Thanks, that's a very way of showing how things are different when we use something that our natural senses were not made to process, I forgot that reflectivity would be different.

Is this one case closed now? It still seems wide open to me. The only non-extraordinary explanation I've seen that seems to hold weight is that the object is a "solar balloon." I believe we've ruled out chinese lanterns, right? And it's clearly not a common military or civilian aircraft, as far as I can tell.
