Before i Start I Must Ask you to Read This Disclaimer

None of this is Based on scientific tests or can be proved by me in any-way apart from my personal experiences with the matter,Bare in Mind This Only applies to you if you are Obsessed with the subject and not just interested in i. Also I am in No way Responsible for Making You Cringe,Laugh,Fall Over,Bang Your Head,Or Just Go Unconscious at Your Computer Screen. Thankyou

Hello Fellow ATSers,

Since i started on the topic of Alien's and Ufo i have became alot more paranoid the slightest light in the sky and i am whats that omg its a ufo regardless of whether it is or not. I once spoke to a friend about the subject and he got really mad, shouting saying i was crazy etc.

Now i bet your wondering Why is It a mental illness to believe in this stuff?

Well here are some reasons.

1)you spent too much time on the internet researching the topic, you lose some social life which intern makes you slightly loony.

2)you dont sleep as much.

3)The thought provoking things that this topic holds can make you question certain things you believe in and leave you not knowing who you really are anymore.

4)and just utterly being addicted to the subject can make you belive in it even more and that can result in alot of things. YOU GOING MAD MAINLY.

So As a Precaution Could Everyone Not Believe in Ufo's So Much Unless you Can Handle The Outcome on Your Mental State.

Kind Regards
True-Seer

Actually nope.

I also belive in Ufo's and Aliens and i have nearly gone insane on several occasions. Its only safe to believe if you take it in small non-lethal Doses.

You Must agree that getting Obsessed with the topic is bad for your health.

thats fair enough... i apologize for jumping to conclusions.... you are absolutely right in that case... as there are quite a few people who let it distort their reality..... i will also agree that it is shameful to allow that.....

it is just so easy to hoax, convince, lie to, and deceive people these days...

Wait a tick. You're applying your limited experienced and reasoning to rest of the human population?

That's kind of a bold statement to make?

Sure maybe it makes YOU crazy, because you're not capable of dealing with such thoughts or perpeptions of reality.

I myself have been studying and have believed in UFO's for almost 30 years, and I not one bit crazy.

I'm un-hinged, but it certainly isn't because I believe in little green men.

Don't make assumptions. You end up making an ass of yourself, and some guy named umption...

Edit To Add: That last part was sarcasm, in no way is this post to be deemed as an attack or insult lol.

I agree.

To obsess over anything is foolish behaviour and a one way ticket to psychologically damaging ones self.

UFO's are perhaps what you could call an express way to crazy, but mostly any other topic will bring you in along those lines.

Ahhh, but if you obsess about anything it is the beginning of OCD, therefore going crazy. All that's left is the compulsion.... :shk:

Totally agree with you. Obsession is not good for your health.

Rather than say 'take it in small doses', I would instead suggest balancing your lifestyle.

I have written previously about this in other threads. I am a keen UFO enthusiast. Luckily, I also have a demanding career and many hobbies. For this reason, I am able to take in large doses of UFO attention and still keep my feet on the ground.

In my opinion, the paranoia resulting from too much ufo attention is far more damaging than you think. It is not an unfounded fear. It is a connection to something in the psyche, which often leads to sightings. It is very important to have the ability to snap out of it and focus on other things - as least for a while.

EDIT: I really should ask. If you believe in aliens/ufo/etc do you see them as friend or foe ? Your avatar suggests you see them as friend.

Numerous researchers have noted this in the past, but none addressed it as directly as John Keel. When you have teenagers and old women believing that they are being watched by Men in Black and are constantly in fear of being taken away by the government never to be seen again due to simply researching the topic, it points toward a developing mental illness. Not only are they paranoid, but displaying delusions of grandeur in thinking that their armchair research is enough to warrant the attention of the government. If you were to throw in hallucinations you pretty much have paranoid schizophrenia.

I know I personally experienced similar symptoms a few years back. It got so bad that I started sleeping with weapons under my pillow. After a while I realized how foolish it all was, at which point I took a break from the whole subject. Since I started researching again I have always had to remind myself to keep a level head and to approach the subject objectively, so as not to see what I simply want to see, and I haven't experienced any negative psychological impact since.

I keep two cameras in my car and three camcorders at home - all fully loaded and ready to go. It is the best way of checking your sanity, should you see something.

I started a thread similar to this OP, but a little more insulting. Just for kicks.

Trollin' ain't easy I guess because that one thread wore me out, had to take a break from ATS...Created a few foes from it as well.

Good luck and above all, have fun

I think it's completely normal. People are interested in everything mysterious.

Of course, there are those people on this board who make up really far-out claims of being abducted, being aliens, meeting them regularly etc etc. It's sometimes very difficult to know if someones trolling or he/she really believes this stuff without meeting him in person.

UFOs are an interesting subject, and the high weirdness from the government in case of UFOs is even more interesting.

Do UFOs exist? Yes.
Are they "alien"? Who knows.

But the phenomenon certainly exists. It's also a great a great tool to bend our narrow minds a little, towards keeping an open mind to new possibilities.
