I'll post some dates that I can remember. These dates are supposed to bring change to the world, or the end of it, by one or another kind of event.

August 7, 1997 AD - The Judgement Day, according to the Terminator movies. This has not happened, and I don't think it will happen. (Just had to post this.)

Fall, 2004 AD - According to John Titor, something in the US Elections this year will start an chain reaction of events, leading to a latter nuclear war. I don't believe in what John Titor said, so "I'm not afraid", if you can call it that.

December 23, 2012 AD - This is when the world is supposed to end. Both the Mayan and the Aztec calendars end this date. According to the X-Files, the alien invasion will begin this day.

2020 AD - This is a somewhat important date. For one, a local newspaper said something about that if we don't do anything about the pollution and etc, the city won't look so well. The world will also suffer from this.

2050 AD - Some cyberpunk games and books takes place around this year. Interesting...

If you know more "DoomsDates", please post them here.

Jehovah's Witnesses:

1914, 1915, 1918, 1920, 1925, 1941, 1975 and 1994, etc. were other dates that the Watchtower Society (WTS) or its members predicted. Since late in the 19th century, they had taught that the "battle of the Great Day of God Almighty" (Armageddon) would happen in 1914 CE. It didn't.
The next major estimate was 1925. Watchtower magazine predicted: "The year 1925 is a date definitely and clearly marked in the Scriptures, even more clearly than that of 1914; but it would be presumptuous on the part of any faithful follower of the Lord to assume just what the Lord is going to do during that year." 6
The Watchtower Society selected 1975 as its next main prediction. This was based on the estimate "according to reliable Bible chronology Adam was created in the year 4026 BCE, likely in the autumn of the year, at the end of the sixth day of creation." 8 They believed that the year 1975 a promising date for the end of the world, as it was the 6,000th anniversary of Adam's creation. Exactly 1,000 years was to pass for each day of the creation week. This prophecy also failed.
The current estimate is that the end of the world as we know it will happen precisely 6000 years after the creation of Eve. 9 There is no way of knowing when this happened.

After the Zeta group's 15 May 2003 date came and went they released this message:

"As has been explained previously, all ZetaTalk information keyed to the May 15 date was part of the White Lie. This included the 7.3 weeks of naked eye visibility leading up to that date, so that when naked eye viewing of a red light fading in and out at our coordinates became visible in very late March, this brought weight to the May 15 date. All was designed to fool the establishment. We avoided, scrupulously, any efforts during the Spring of 2003 to pin us down to distance, allowing humans to speculate on the distance from Earth instead. We also refused to address the exact speed of Planet X, preferring to talk in general terms, stating it was a rapid approach to the outer edges of the solar system, and much slower when approaching the Sun due to the Repulsion Force effect. Nancy has pointed out several clues that May 15 was not and could not have been the date, in that we have stated in ZetaTalk that Planet X would dive 32 below the Ecliptic prior to passage and at May 15, 2003 our coordinates had only dropped to 7 below the Ecliptic. We also stated firmly in Nov, 2001, that no date would be given as it would allow the establishment to mistreat the populace. "

They have the most fearful and detailed site of the coming polar shift at

I think date setting should be outlawed.

Scenario. I set a date for some major catastrophe to happen. Some group or nut decides that my prediction has to be correct. As such, they manipulate reality so that, in fact, a catastrophe does happen.

This is what I think date setting does. It allows some to get so caught up in the fact that something has to happen by a certain date that they would be willing to do anything to see this event come to pass.

Many people are tired with the status quo. The world is screaming for a change. The bible talks about one who will be admired by all the world. I think we could be in this era. Am I willing to set a date....no. Christ tolkd us to be aware of the seasons. We are certainly moreso in this century closer to the global attitude that was prevelant in the days of Noah. However, the underlying premise is to be ready. It should not matter whether or not tommorow comes. What matters is where you are today.

I think that the only thing that stays the same is change. It is obvious that the internet has allowed for an ever increasing global conscience to develop. This global thought is this: that there is something bigger than all of us and that we are helpless to change it, so let it happen so we can start over and do things right this time.

We might be helpless to change whatever might happen. But we can sure allow OURSELVES to be changed. What I am talking about is thinking more of others than ourselves. To make whatever time we have left worth it. To give our neighbor a hand when they need it. To come to peace with our Savior.

You may not believe in God or heaven or hell. But trust me, when death is at your door, you will believe in something. How many atheists have accepted Christ when on their deathbed? Many. Don't let it be too late for you.

And I say to you, look at yourself, because you will and do worship something. And whatever it is you worship, has become who you are.

Well, it appears that both the Mayan and the Aztec callendar end in 2012. Besides, they felt it somehow, so, uh... who knows? Most religions do have an "end of the world" thing, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Norse mythology, etc.

I just think they got lazy

Freenergy has it right though. Setting dates just sets up for disappointment (what's so disappointing about the world not ending?).

What difference does it make if you know a date or not?

I believe the end of the Mayan calender is December 21, 2012

I strongly believe in it. But does that mean it's the end of the world?

1. According to Mayans our technology will be infinitly doubling every second!

Or do we pass through the new dimension

I don't want to get people worked up over this but it's somewhat important to consider.

BTW- Any links about John Titor. I would like to read up more of what he said.

Yeah my friends and I had a 'Judgement Day' party on that date. We made jello shots and sent out invites. It turned out to be one of the best parties in the group history.

I am going to go with The X Files Mayan thing. I believe that Chris Carter knows more than we think.

The Titor thing was interesting. I liked his reason for being in that time.

As for Nancy and the Zeta group. I believe she is th epidemy of disinformation.

When I was a kid I lived in dread of the date 1999, because I saw a segment of Ripley's Beileve It Or Not that mentioned it (along with a graphic of the world in flames). Every year I'd think: "one more year to armaggedon!"

Now 2012 is the "new 1999." And every year I think: "well this should be interesting..."

When I was in high school, I remember some religious nuts making an issue of the date 8-8-88. I laughed as they tried to make people repent and become one in their cult, and laughed as I saw the many sheeple rushing about; hiding in their homes that day, panicky...

It's amazing how hard these people back-peddle when trying to save face when their predictions become a bust.

Yeah but this is an entire ancient civilization as opposed to one old dude on TV.

It is funny though how an image like that can burn into your head and create fear. They are starting to use these tactics to keep kids from smoking and using drugs.

That's all well and good but I wish they would stop with the Hardees commercials. Now I can't stand to see anyone eat. All I hear is that monotone Steven Wright wanna be voice-over calling me a little weenie boy. lol
