Such posts as this reveal the author hasn't researched their beliefs one bit. Sad.

AND, what makes you think that YOUR faith is the one that this invisible "Lord" of the skies is affiliated with???

What about the MANY, MANY other faiths that claim that there's is the RIGHT one to get into the paradice in the skies? In other words, YOUR faith will NOT be among those in paradice according to MANY, MANY other beleifs that folks regard JUST as REAL and "THE ONE" as you do YOURS!!

The odds are that your faith is the WRONG ONE if you happen to beleive in all this FICTION.

AGAIN, the ODDS are AGAINST you in the realm of Religious belief.

So how did you determine that YOUR faith is the right one to which this invisible "Lord" of the skies is affiliated with.

The ODDS are against you SIGNIFICANTLY, so I assume that you MUST have a convincing argument on behalf of your post claiming that this "Lord" will be mad at me one day.

SO, please educate us others whom the "Lord" will be mad at for those that dont believe in your beliefs.

Please elaborate, thanks.

Removing gloves and popping knuckles...

For your information,I wasn't always a good,little
christian mama!
I was involved in the occult, back in the 1970's.
I spent over twenty years doing research on UFO's.
I have been in and out of churches my entire life.
During my,UFO years,I finally realized the truth.
I dropped all research and started to live for Him!

what i think is that for those who are self-oriented and would do things for their own gain even at the expense of others, it is forbidden

naturally so, IMO.

but what is the difference between what Jesus did vs. perhaps, say, the Witch of Endor?

Jesus did miracles
she did sorcery

but literally, what's the difference?
it's men that labeled each differently.

but it's obvious that the Witch of Endor had a good heart because she cared for King Saul, when he was suddenly close to dying in her home, even though he was the one who had said she had to leave the country, but she hadn't complied.

him coming to her door was potentially her demise, but still she fed him and his entourage and made him rest after he fell faint from her conjuring up the dead Prophet Samuel from the Earth, per his own request.

so she loved her neighbor as herself, even at possible expense to her own life! that is truly divine, when objectively examined. the problem is, religion teaches people to be anything BUT objective!

and obviously she had some powers, too. more than Saul did, at that point! she successfully conjured up a dead man's spirit from the Earth.

1 Samuel chapter 28

it ends with no admonishments about sorcery, whatsoever.

Samuel got on Saul but because Saul came to disturb his rest when he already knew that GOD had cut him off for not obeying.

just something to think about!

Why cant you just please answer my question that I posted?

You claimed that this "Lord" that YOU believe in will be MAD at ME one day for not subscribing to YOUR BELIEFS. For the purpose of determining if you have a VALID claim, I wish to discover what makes YOUR specific "Lord" the CORRECT one out of the MANY, MANY others.

If I (and MANY others) can be convinced that your claim is the TRUTH, it will save your "Lord" from being angry with us all. There are MANY of us that could be SPARED this anger from your "Lord" if you can elaborate on how you determined that your specific "Lord" is the right one out of so very many others.

If you choose to believe in something to which allegedly our "souls for eternity" depend upon, I would assume you are quite informed in this area and can elaborate on it. Plus I would assume that your "Lord" would have extra blessings for you if you can change some folk's minds on this.

SO, for ALL that is "allegedly" at stake here, please answer the question, thanks.

PS: Just because you believed in the occult once, does not add any credibility to it. I once believed in the faiths of Catholic, Christianity, & Judaism at one time. I also believed in Santa Claus. Please just answer the question, thanks very much.

Edit for typos.

Nevertheless, there were sources of power which the Biblical God did not want his people to use, and he said so on many, many occasions. For example, Isaiah on the subject of mediums;
"And when they say to you 'Consult the mediums and the wizards that chirp and mutter', should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?" Isaiah ch8 v19

"You shall have no other gods but me" is not a peripheral detail in the Old Testament. It is the very first commandment. In fact, it is arguably THE most fundamental definition of Biblical religion that the Biblical God distinguishes between himself and other gods which are not himself.

Thus, in the Biblical perspective, it is offensive to God to appeal to powers that are not God.

If you want to argue about the existence of gods, start a thread.

This topic isn't about if gods do or do not exist.

It was a question addressed to a post in THIS thread.

And your post was much meaningless than the question of mine that DOES involve this topic.

Meaningless?

I answered the questions.

Your post wasn't directed at anyone individually. It was a broad post that responded to no one.

You asked no question.

Here is your initial post:

Sorcery, and Satan and Bible stories all share something in common with each other: IT IS ALL FICTION!!

Many, many SUPERSTITIOUS, FEARFUL, BRAINWASHED individuals have fallen for these stories as a result of not investigating the origins of these beleifs.

So for those too lazy to research it all, I will summarize the truth for you: ITS ALL FAKE!!!

It all fits in the SAME exact category as Harry Potter stories, the tooth fairy, and the moon being made of cheese. EXACTLY the SAME!!!

No questions, no reponse, just a broad post aimed at inciting people.

Normally this is called trolling.

I know that Jesus/Yeshua is Lord,because
my heart tells me so.I walk by faith, not by
sight.You have to have a sign,proof that
you will accept.Anything I should bring up,
you would never believe or listen to.I would
be wasting my time!

Darn! I always get this same usual COP-OUT about this question!!
Oh well. I was hoping for some CONVINCING explanation to support your stance that I am going to get yelled at by the one and only TRUE "Lord" that you believe in. To have your soul go to heaven for eternity by picking the right "Lord", I assumed you would provide more on it..

I was hoping for something more than your heart telling you this stuff. My heart convinced me of it too at one time and about Santa Claus also.

Guess I will have to look elsewhere for a convincing post on the TRUE "Lord" of all the MANY "Lords" out there.

Thanks anyways.

You read the initial post?

It was Biblical and canon questions. It wasn't about if Christianty, Islam or Wicca had true gods.

AH, this will be easy. Since you didnt run off and go play already, I'll have tell you son why you are incorrect. The thead is about GOD and SORCERY. Someone made an obvious assumption that they knew the TRUE "Lord". Knowing the true "Lord" would better help everyone know about SORCERY and its NON-ACCEPTANCE by GOD.

Get it?

Oh wait, your silliness is a DESPERATE attempt to divert the QUESTIONS addressed to mammabeth. Those answers to my questions will help add to the discussion of GOD/LORD and his OPPOSITION TO THE TOPIC OF SORCERY.

Sorcery is only the science known by some and used in a way that permits that knowledge to stay hidden. It is used that way (with useless incantations and ceremonial) to keep the gullible people ignorant and to give this science a supernatural flavor. No more...

Or it's simply tricks...

So sorcery, as such (a supernatural way of conjuring/tapping in dark/hidden powers), DOESNT exist!

It's trully SCIENCE!

Thats wonderful and all, but have you any study into the areas of the laws, teachings, and miracles of Horus, Krishna, Mithra, and many others similar to them?

This one is a REALLY SIMPLE question since I couldn't get a convincing answer on the others that I asked for the sake of understanding the topic of god and sorcery better.

A proper opposition to the thread, would be to support the opposing view that sorcery is good.

Instead your trying to destroy the OP's question and purpose.

Thats like two people are arguing over if American football or European soccer is better, and you butt in saying sports are stupid.

If you don't like sports, the polite thing to do is stay out of the debate.

I would argue its an art and not a science.

It doesn't follow the scientific method, or anything remotely empirical.

Some of it is philosophical but philosophy is not science. Reasoning isn't scientific, its philosophical. Science requires empirical methods.

The SOURCE-ry is either Fear or Love.

I don't even think proclaimed sorcerers know what sorcery is...dressing up as merlin and walking around druidically with a cane that has carved in symbols special to the one who carries it?

Casting spells, incantations, ceremonies, lighting candles, belonging to exclusive groups and orders, chanting in a group, summoning, manipulation of elements etc etc?

(Love or Fear)

what source do you wish to operate from?

You will find the answers in simplicity

Dont get me wrong...I am fallible and not better than nor am i less than.

Returning to the original subject, the main reason given in Deuteronomy is that the sorcery is objectionable because it is part of the practice of the "other nations" who preceded Israel in the posession of the land.

"When you come into the land which the Lord God gives you, you shall not follow the abominable practices of those nations...and because of these abomnable practices the Lord your God is driving them out before you." Deuteronomy ch18 vv9-12

The objection includes anyone who "practices divination, a soothsayer, an augur, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer... but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you so to do".
