A plane crashed today near the beaches of Destin, Florida! What is going on there? It just gets weirder and weirder. Beaches are now closed!

It could be just another plane crash, but I am always curious as to "who" was on it? That is the conspiracy side of me, can't help it.
Here is a report by a kid, and I love the fact that there are so many ears and eyes out there willing to report what they see. The girl speculates that the plane may have clipped into another plane that was advertising. The coast Guard responded on jet ski's but the plane had already sunk.

Peace

I agree with you. The new eyes and ears of this (immediate) generation are bringing all manner of things into the light.

Hm, I agree with the curiosity behind it... Could it be because of who was on it? Could it be because of where they were flying in relation to the oil?? Who knows?!?! Should be interesting to see what comes of it!

The only thing that i DO know is that I can't believe that people are still swimming in the freakin' water!!!! GEEEZ!

Wow.
Did anyone see the episode of Myth Busters where they proved that most of the planes that have gone down in the Bermuda Triangle (and ships) were due to huge methane bursts from the ocean floor?
Planes go down all over the place at any time, but since this was a WWII era plane I can't help but wonder if there's a connection. Could the methane levels possibly be high enough in Florida to cause this crash?
If so... that's pretty effing bad!

Could it have been shot down for taking photos of things that the public is not being allowed to see....

Just throwing it out there....

Yes, I don't want to be paranoid, but I did start thinking about methane, when I heard that a plane had crashed near the beach. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming! My heart breaks for the beaches, especially Destin Beach!

Nice find.

Do you or anyone know if the airspace is still closed above the leak?

OR..... it could be this!

Witnesses said the yellow plane had been flying in the area for about 10 minutes doing a few stunts when it crashed.

The type of stunts that, if not done properly, will cause your plane to crash.

Because it looks incredible and if they planned this vacation down there and waited all year to get there, WE'RE SWIMMING D*MN IT!!! lol.
Seriously, after living there for 16 years, I can understand why. The emerald green water is almost magnetic.

I was there two weeks ago. Every day these four WW2 war birds came around and flew low and did some stunts. I have uploaded the video to member area, how do I get it on this post?

You are correct it was one of those four WW2 planes, I think it was a T-6, the second to crash in four months. The pilot was a resident of Niceville Fl, his name has yet to be released. Three of the original five still remain.

If you have been to Destin, you may have seen them flying in formation over the harbour and the Destin pass, especially on Thursday's just before the sun sets and the fireworks begin. This is a hobby for these guys, they are not paid and do it just for the entertainmant of the tourists.

RIP.

Not much more info, except the id of the people that perished.

DESTIN — A Niceville man and his brother-in-law have been identified as the pilot and passenger of the small World War II-era plane that crashed into the Gulf of Mexico on Friday afternoon.
Tim McDonald, 57, of Niceville, was flying his T-6 Texan aircraft when it went down about 12:20 p.m. about three-quarters of a mile off the coast of the Okaloosa/Walton County line, said Sgt. Rick Hord with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
McDonald’s passenger aboard the plane was his brother-in-law, 46-year-old Tim Turner of Omaha, Neb.
The fate of the men was not known Friday night, officials said.
“We don’t (know what caused the crash). We can speculate all day long, but we don’t know what went wrong,” said Nick Turner, Tim Turner’s brother. “They were just out having some fun. I’m not sure what happened.”
