Nicaragua proposes similar law to Arizona's 1070

Link

According to the El Nuevo Diario newspaper an immigration bill similar to Arizona’s 1070 is being reviewed for final approval by the National Assembly in Managua, Nicaragua. The proposed law has sparked controversy and is seen by many as “drastic.” The article from El Nuevo Diario, claims the new immigration law would be dehumanizing leading to the opposition’s argument that illegal migrants would be treated “unjustly” in the poor Central American country. If the Nicaragua Immigration Law was approved in its current form, Articles 153 to 158 would require every hotel, inn and motel,

They also say that: "Included in the law is article 153 which “prohibits the hiring of undocumented workers, or those who, though in legal status, are not authorized to perform work activities.”

Gonzalez explained that “every State has its regulations, and that similar or more stringent criteria of control than those mentioned in the recently approved law exist in the entire Central American region; nevertheless, in Nicaragua, sanctions or fines ought to be imposed only on those who house, transport or hire undocumented aliens when this takes place within the violation of migrant or people trafficking."

Sound familiar?
So, Arizona's 1070 has made an impact in Nicaragua or is the San Diego examiner trying to keep Arizona in the news about our law?

It is their Country, they need to take care of their people first, much like Arizona has to take care of our legal citizens first, our Government won't.

One of my favorite parts of their new law: [If the Nicaragua Immigration Law was approved in its current form, Articles 153 to 158 would require every hotel, inn and motel, as well as all modes of public transportation operators would be required to ask for identification from those who request service or they could face prosecution and/or pay a fine.]

Now excluding taxi drivers, buses and ambulances, wait, she pregnant and in the Ambulance, " You Legal, Lady?"
No Hobbla English
out you go"

I like it

Bleeding hearts point of view

They're all a bunch of gun toting, white trash, redneck racists! This is an outrage! How can they possibly get away with this atrocity? It's racist and un-American.

//whispers in ear>"Nicaragua is a country, not a state.... and they are Latino, not white."

Oh. Good for them! Way to take back your sovereignty, stick it to those damn racist Americans.

I wonder how many illegals are currently living in Nicaragua taking advantage of their top of the line Hospitals, Health care, School System, and not paying taxes to the government.

There are 2 possible reasons for Nicaragua passing this law.

1. The government is seeking votes for the next election, and everybody knows that nationalism never fails to get people believing in their country again, even if it's an impoverished 3rd world nation like Nicaragua is.

2. They actually have a problem with Illegal immigrants coming into their to leech off their system.

But going by Nicaragua's HDI (Human Development Index) which is ranked 124th in the World...I'd say that it's a safe bet that the reason that they are passing this law is because of Reason no.1

Go ahead and try to compare The United States to Nicaragua.

That's right apples and oranges isn't it?

There are over 12 million undocumented people (I refuse to call them aliens, because they were still born on Earth) living here and working and the majority of those 12+ Million have formed families, many with children born in the U.S. attending school here, and trying to start new lives in a country which they still see as "the land of opportunity."

Call me a "bleeding heart liberal scum" or whatever names you want to come up with, but I refuse to look at these people who come here for a better life as criminals. Sure they might have crossed the border swimming, without proper documentation. But if you were living in a Mexico, where everyday you fear going out because you never know where the next cartel massacre will occur or whether or not your family will even eat, I ask you wouldn't you do the same thing?

One other thing, please do say that your ancestors came here legally..because the immigration laws and procedures are not the same today as they were in the 1900's or 1920's. Also the cost of citizenship today can reach thousands of dollars.

It surprises me, that the majority of the members of Above Top Secret...a site which motto is "Deny Ignorance" would support a law such as the one from Arizona and defend it which such ardent passion. But you know? I shouldn't be really surprised because when one thinks about it..the same thing happened in an European country in the 1930's and 1940's

The Arizona law makes it easy for the racial profiling and discriminations of Hispanics.

Sorry.
But your links works Great My friend.
Thank You.

I'm still confused, I'm not exactualy sure what they have there. I did hear from an old source of mine, their health care was not that bad and better if you had a little money to give the Doc.

muse7, my young friend. they are not here to start new lives, who feed you that line of B.S.?
There here for the money and that's the only reason their here. If you paid attention to the world around you, you'd notice that the illegals send back to their home Country as much money as they can, that is way you'll have 3 or 4 families living in one 2 bedroom home.

If you'd open your eyes, you'd also notice that 2 or 3 bedroom home on your mothers street, has 3 or 4 cars and trucks parked in the back yard in the drive way on what use to be a green lawn and parked in the street.

That their kids don't know what a front door is used for, they use the bed room window to enter and exit. Their kids run the street all night and their damn music is to load.

muse7, your not real bleeding heart liberal, your just living in a boarder state, in a neighbor hood that was really nice once.

Please just read the Arizona 1070 and don't throw that Racist Crap around here, and not at me, because, youngster, you know nothing about me and my past to call me a Racist.

How about American retirees?
Nicaragua is turning into a retiree's paradise. Plus, rich Nicaraguans hire illegals from their neighboring countries as help.

Ignorant much?

If you want a better life you don't set out to get it by commiting a crime.

I live in Chicago and we've had two shootings on my block as well as incidents with ball bats, and several shootings around the corner on the next block in less than a month. We never know when it will be one of us that gets shot, or has a bullet come flying through our window. And no I don't do the same thing, I stay in my community and work with my neighbors, alderman, and police department to get the situation under control.

Ok, my ancestors did come here legally
. Yes the immigration laws were different then, they had to LEARN ENGLISH to become a citizen back then and they became AMERICANS not German -Americans, or IRISH-Americans, or Mexican-Americans, etc, but simply good ole Americans. And they worked hard for it, and were proud of it, they didn't want any special treatment and they damn sure didn't want to be coddled and catered to. They didn't come here and try to change this into another country, they came here to be a part of this country and embrace it.

Funny, it surprises me that someone that spouts the deny ignorance motto is comparing Arizona's law to Nazi Germany, the subject of Arizona's law always seems to bring out Godwin's law. They're not trying to put peole into death camps, they are simply enforcing federal immigration laws that the Feds refuse to enforce that in no way, shape, or form makes it easy to racially profile or discriminate against Hispanics. Have you actually read the law, or are you just going by what others would have you believe ?

haika, You're absolutely correct, I forgot about our own retirees moving south for the exchange rate, their retirement must go a lot further.

I just don't see Retirees being illegals though.

Still good point.

muse7, Stop listening to NPR and your other Lefty Buddies, Their filling your head with SH$T.

I mean, Where did you get the idea it, here's your words: [Also the cost of citizenship today can reach thousands of dollars.] end quote.
Who told you such a thing like that, I know, Some Left Wing GOP Hater, trying to get you to think, America is making it financially impossible for immigrants to get Green Cards. BULL Sh$t.

I can see you're another young Liberal, that has no clue how America works. You probably think, every one needs to hire a Lawyer.
Again you're wrong. Go to www.uscis.gov and look at what it takes to:
Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, which is a form I-485 and the coast, WOW, ($930 plus a biometrics fee of $80) I'll give you a total I know Liberals get these things wrong $1,010.00
YES, That's Thousands of Dollars. Liberal Bull Sh%t.

Another thing you might want to know and I'll tell you, Because your Hero's at Liberal Lands and Open Boarder are Us, Won't tell you. All the information you need in any language you speak is at that site and can be printed out to help you apply for any immigrant status at all plus a 1-800 number you can call and ask question.

Gee! How does he know all that, read my profile and I don't care for Lawyers and their not needed, you can and I have, fill out all the documents yourself.

Hmmm I wonder if they have finally gotten tired of Ollie North and company? Wait a minute...they already threw them out.

Seriously, I guess we are not the only ones who have gotten tired of the influx of uninvited people crossing the border. Good to see someone else taking a stand against it.

WOW only $1,010.00. That sounds great. Now Pedro makes $5 a day so if he sets aside 20% or 1 Dollar a day he'll be able to immigrate legally in about 3 years.

Or he could just hop the border since your government doesn't seem interested in securing it.

You're absolutely correct, Obama and his cronies do not want our boarder secured.
I know 5 Pedro families on my block only that have done it, They came here with at least one or two kids in-tow and are legal. I know that one Pedro was a fisherman with one family boat, I know another Pedro that was a house painter.
It is possible if Pedro wants it bad enough. Oh, The Pedro's I know, don't like illegals and give them a hard time when they rent a house here.

So, Go Figure that one out.

Not all pedros are the same just like not all Peters are alike. Maybe the Pedros you know made more than 5 Dollars a day. I would think so if one of them had his own fishing boat. Sound like upper middle class Pedros to me (by Mexican standards anyway).

As for the house painter level Pedros, maybe their old school Pedros. You know the ones that entered when you could still register with INS after 7 or so years of living in the US illegaly. Doesn't mean they didn't border hop in the first place.

By the way the border has been insecure for many a decade. Obama is just to blame at the moment.
