Glenn Beck: hiring illegal immigrants the modern day slavery

yes you are all right it is slavery........we beat these illegals till they work and if they arent effecient enough we will beat them till they do.......really is everyone this irrational yes illegal immigrants stealing jobs is bad but slavery wtf.........it is no way slavery how ludicrous

I am no fan of Glen Beck and I find him to be a lunatic douchebag most of the time, but he may be right on this point. While the treatment of illegal immigrants by their employees is nowhere near as harsh or brutal as the way slaves on plantations were treated, there are some parallels.

Slaves and illegal aliens both occupy the lowest rungs of society doing the work the rest of society does not want to do. Just as slaves did not work voluntarily, many illegal alien workers are not working on their own free will because they fear reprisals from their employers.

an illegal immigrant can quit....he is not a slave....he can quit...and as far as reprisals.....what reprisals???......im sure they dont have much to take and its not like you can turn them in w/o you winding up in the wrap with the irs........why does everyone blame the illegals......ya they dont pay taxes......ya we do......so do you want your money being wasted.....such as $7 million a day to israel.....

Well put. Yes, tantamount to, as far as working conditions. However, I must say that an African slave came unwillingly, as I don't recall reading of how an African slave even so much as paid someone to bring him or his family here. The African slave was captured and forced to come here and forced to work and could not say, "Enough of this s###, I'm going to return home!" and do so.

Also, the Southern economy was dependent upon slavery to the extent that when it was broken the economy broke, too. Has the American economy today become so dependent on insourcing illegal labor, that it, too, would break?

What GB does, however, is use "slavery" rhetorically to advance his opinions. Given the chance to stop illegal hiring by business, which really is why there are so many illegals WORKING here, GB would be on the side of business, his rhetorical free market.

Many illegal aliens fear reprisals. We must keep in mind many of them have little or no education and do not understand our laws and customs. They do not necessarily know their bosses are full of BS when their bosses tell them to work or else they or their families will get deported.

Are we really feeling sympathy for this scum? Not only do they not pay any taxes, but they steal our damn jobs and spread disease and crime and now you feel sympathy for them?

Either go TAKE Mexico back from all the drug lords or close the damn border. You dont just let them walk in here and do whatever they want.

Yep, there is NO reason for any LEGAL citizens to have ANY sympathy for them, correct 100%.

Especially when they get all kinds of free perks and benefits in this country. They live the American dream that the REAL CITIZENS cant even have when the chips are down.

For EXAMPLE, we just saw the unemployment extension not being passed for hardworking TAX PAYING AMERICANS, yet the ILLEGALS boldly walk right across our borders and THEY ENJOY EXTRA SERVINGS OF PERKS AND BENEFITS, no problem!!!!! Hard working American worker cant even get ASSISTANCE THAT THEIR TAXES HAVE PAID FOR, but the ILLEGALS can COMMIT the CRIME of passing our BORDERS and its the AMERICAN DREAM for them.

SO, NO SYMPATHY FOR THEM!!
