I agree completely with you, my friend! I also made a thread about this one that goes like your thought, ATS isn't a place of lunatics, there's more than meets the eye. I would like to see your opinion there.

I'm may be guilty of not reading the rules or policy here in detail, but I'm calling out the moderators on this one. What is preventing you guys and gals from acting?

If this site is to have any integrity threads like this need to be locked as soon as definitive proof is shown, as it was back on pg 3, 3hrs and 2mins after the original post when the pics of the ISS Destiny module were first posted.

Come on mods, turn the screws a bit here !

Edit - OK mods, small recant here, sorry. Since I kept jumping to this thread from the front page of the board I didn't realize it had been moved to the HOAX forum. It would be nice if it could have bee done at pg3 instead of pg10 but I understand how difficult it is to manage such a huge volume of posts with a volunteer corps. Any way to highlight that HOAX in the breadcrumb or header?

Sorry- even though I believe in a "secret space program", this looks like a well-done fake. Too bad, I would LOVE to see some photo-evidence, of OUR secret program.
Having SEEN a couple of "inertialess" flying objects in the skies over Nevada, I NOW keep a miniature camcorder, VERY handy! I will be prepared, next time.
Moderater- PLEASE move this, to "HOAX!"!!!!

I recognize the footage. It's from TheFakingHoaxer on youtube.

Excellent memory and great job at identifying the source.

At 2:33 in this video from TheFakingHoaxer, you can see the exact frame of the 'astronaut' in the original video, in the exact same angle and pose.

To further prove that the video in the OP is a hoax, here is a direct quote from TheFakingHoaxer:

"I made this video with real photographs and the only true real footage is of the crew from the Apollo missions. Everything else is cgi with photo's. I could add a lot more into it, but I'm working on other stuff too. :-)"

As FURTHER confirmation that the video was created by "TheFakingHoaxer" he appears to link directly to THIS thread and made a video for ATS:

"Unbelievable that people don't read previous forum threads before posting their opinion. www.abovetopsecret.com... and I bet you will be humming this tune all...day...long. ;-)"

It means somebody went to a lot of trouble to create a picture
of something.

It was a nice touch to make sure it included the Portal in the Frame
as an atempt to make it look more genuine.
And the clarity was amazing for a HandyCam, it was almost as if
you could reach out of Portal and touch it.

I think it's the best job he's done from a technical point of view, but I seriously lost it the first time I saw it. Seeing the blown out cabin fire and the music that went with it was just too much. Call me a wuss, but I've seen too much space tragedy in real life. Just struck too close to home I guess.

I can tell this is a fake. Mars is to large to be filmed whole. I doubt sunlight will be that bright by Mars.

Well seeing as Earth can be "filmed whole" and Mars is slightly larger than half the size of Earth; I'm sure Mars can be "filmed whole".

Thank you for correcting my links! TFH does great work - I hope he is picked up by a studio that can reward his talent.

This looks like a fake to me because of the zooming in and out doesnt look manual which it probably would be back then?. Anyway here is a frame that has the astronaut/cosmonaut in it. Does he look familiar?

Hmnnn..... Two answers to that, (A) Sunlight does not lose brightness and size depends upon the distance between object and camera. (B) Your blonde and from California - They used their headlights.

Very enjoyable. The shaky camera work, the popping in and out of focus, the brief glimpses of what looks like a plausible spacecraft... all contribute to the illusion of realism. It also appears to have been shot on film, so much the better! Why such brief takes edited together? Why is Mars always in the same phase, irrespective of which feature the craft is orbiting over? Why through a porthole? Why no interior shots? My hunch about this one is that it was professionally done in a studio, using an exquisitely rendered globe of Mars. I'm willing to bet it was stitched together from a Russian science fiction film or Nova style documentary.

I tend to agree with every point, and would add that a lot of these shots are so brief as to make it possible to have been shot with pictures of Mars as the background.

Hi all,
I'm new to ATS. I'm a video professional and to my eye, the thing that stands out about this clip is that the zoom is to fast for 70's technology. Also, the way the camera is moving it looks like a handheld DV camera rather than the comparatively bulky 16mm cameras of the time. Thats my two cents worth. Cheers!

Late 70' the Russain and the USA working gether I find that odd.
And secondly why would they have a camera man that appears to be three sheets to the wind.
