Is anyone surprised? I mean, this is no big mystery. This is what facists do. This is ALL they do....

So desperate are Bush Republicans to kill Michael Moore's latest film, Fahrenheit 9/11, they have hired a public relations firm to set up a web site attacking Moore. The site, MoveAmericaForward.com, claims to be "non-partisan," but a glance at the "About" page of the site reveals the director and staff of Move America Forward are all diehard Republicans, anti-tax activists, and former legislative staffers. The PR firm is Russo Marsh & Rogers.

Russo Marsh & Rogers is a GOP consultation firm. In 2002, Ron Rogers teamed up with Reagan heavyweight Lyn Nofziger and Ed Rollins to work on the gubernatorial campaign of Bill Simon (see Campaign movements -- People & Organizations.)

Thanks to the detective work of WhatReallyHappened.com, it was revealed that Move America Forward's web site was registered in the name of Russo Marsh & Rogers. In other words, Move America Forward is about as partisan as it gets without putting the GOP seal of approval on the web site. In short, Move America Forward's campaign is a Republican dirty trick designed to smear Moore and pressure move theater owners not to run his film....

Not only do the Republicans not want you to go see Moore's film, they also don't want you to know they are behind the campaign to smear Moore and pressure theater owners into not running the film. It's just like the Republicans to do this sort of thing behind your back. Of course, it is rather lazy and stupid of the Republicans to not think about WHOIS. But then nearly everything about the Republicans lately -- from the lies behind the invasion of Iraq to clumsily attempting to cover up the TortureGate scandal -- has been lazy and stupid.
progressivetrail.org...

So much fighting agaisnt the release this film leads me to believe that its ALL true.

Gee, "Colonel", you seem to be so disturbed by anyone not embracing a box of lies. You throw rocks at those who are less sin-stained than your own group (The liberal elite, operated and financed by a small, select few, because most aren't dumb enough to believe that crap).

I don't care who owns, operates and finances Move America Forward, they are 100% right, and you are defending an anti-American dirtbag that makes a fortune putting together lies and twisted truths that are created only to blame all bad things on Bush and do all possible to elect thed most left-wing nominee possible. If this crap is anything like his Bowling for Comlumbine crap, it is fiction labeled as a documentary. Any reason to defend that? No, there is not. Not by an honest person, anyway.

I'm sorry, Prankster. This just goes to show that moore is not necessarily better!

Oh, look, its the Usual Suspects. I know this is a stretch but have either of you read any of his books?

Why, yes. That is how I know he is a liar. I thought it was comedy, I didn't realize what I was buying. My mistake. Bowling for Columbine was intentional, to se the lies and twisted facts. He is nothing more than a propagandist that does no good. People like him aren't happy with honest debate, they are so demanding that their side wins they feel they have to spread lies and use deceit.

So what was he lying about in the films and which books did you read that were lies?

Come on, Colonel, have you read his books?

His White Men b ook is the one I picked up by accident. Looked funny, and I like humor directed at myself, or at the stereotypical me (you assume I am a redneck because I am in Alabama, you must admit there is stereotype, there.). That book was frought with intentional misrepresentations of the truth, and you know it, but Bowling for Columbine was the absolute worst. So much was incorrect, I don't have time to go into it as I'm about to step out the door for work. But beyond his garbage, it is obvious where the problems are, and it is not the gun ownership in this nation. This nation has been a nation of gun owners since its inception, but the sickness is relatively new. Hmmm, one could even draw a line between it and the liberal movement, to be honest with you. And I am being honest. I do not believe that it is proper to use a lie to further one's agenda.

This is interesting

[Moore] has hired Chris Lehane and Mark Fabiani, two former political advisers to Bill Clinton and Al Gore, to respond to claims that Moore doctored the facts.

"You come at me with anything, we come back with the truth," said Moore.
BBC

Despite many claims about Bowling for Columbine, no one sued or took legal action on anything. It'll be interesting to see if the same happens with this film, though it looks like he wants to be better prepared for the flak this time.

Here, try this one:
MOORE LIES

or this:

MORE MOORE LIES

There are plenty more out there if you do a simple search.

TC, Kegs makes an intersting point, if he is LYING so much in his movies and books, how come no onehas sued him for libel? And, until you come up with proof of his lies, you're just talking to hear yourself talk.

That is because Moore issued a libel threat to his critics after he was forced to make changes to the DVD version of Bowling for Columbine.

Doesn't anyone around here read the papers?

If that isn't enough there is plenty more.

EDIT: I thought you did not trust newspapers?

COOL HAND: I don't like you too much. What am I saying? I don't like you at all. However, those articles were insightful and proves that Moore is given to a bit of exageration but the core truth remains. The distortions are minor and I can forgive him for that. Furthermore, I would rather have this film out where we can discuss it and YOU can pick it apart at your leisure rather than adopt gestapo tactics to try to censor it as republicans are doing now.

Can you enlighten me as to the Gestapo tactics that I am using?

All I have done is offer you proof that you almighty Moore is nothing more than a fraud who takes advantage of people. He finds something for them to fear and then he tells you how to get rid of it. It's called showmanship and he uses it to get more money from people.

Once again, I have to wonder why I even bother to present you with evidence. If it doesn't agree with you, then as far as you are concerned it doesn't exist. Isn't one of the traits of the dems to have an open mind? Yours is more closed than any other Republican I know.

Any group can band together and pool their resources to make a website for or against anything they want....big whoop? No one is putting a gun to their heads nor forcing people to go to the site.....

Why the hype? This is a hollow excuse to beat the MMoore drum....especially for something that admittidly ON THIS THREAD could contain some exageration...(Colonel agrees, "proves that Moore is given to a bit of exageration")

This sounds like another free PR stunt

LOOK AT MMOORE.....LOOK AT MMOORE.....LOOK AT MMOORE

IF WE BEAT THE MOORE DRUM LOUD ENOUGH PEOPLE WILL FORGET THAT SOME OF THIS COULD BE SPECULATION, EXAGERATION, INTERPRETATION OR FICTION.

Once the box office spikes upon opening, (probably wont make the top 3 list for its first week) the sales will drop fast and hard and this dog of a flick will get burried into a dusty vault next to B.F.C. Money making movies get to stay taking up screen space....box office failures dont last 3 weeks if theyre lucky (depending on the movie release season)

Yeah, colonel.
Us Republicans. World Hunger? Us. Cancer? Us.
AIDS? Yeah, that's us, too.

Good gracious.

Michael Moore is a power-tripping, narcissistic, power-hungry ignoramus pandering to the low-brow psuedobohemian wannabeintellects who totally refuse to look beyond whatever swill Moore's presenting.
Bowling for Columbine was, of course, riddled with inaccuracies. Click to read them all here.

What about the fact that Moore knew, prior to production, that Disney would not carry his film? Of course, he decides to make a public spectacle of this. Pathetic, and just another attempt for him to line his own pockets.
For all you bleeding heart liberals, where is the money from his films going? If he's so against these Rich, white, men....Where is his money off to? Lining his pockets, for sure. If he's so against "the man," why is he published on a major bookseller's company?

Republicans have nothing to do with facism or censorship. Rather, why would it be sanctioned for a film to be released - or a book - touting itself as fact, while most definitely not being so? Please. Moore's no more altruistic than a white, protestant big wig up on Capitol Hill. He's out for his own benefit in the spirit of Upton Sinclair's muckraking. He spins his films and books like no tomorrow, he lies, he's fairly substanceless.
Consider, perhaps, being a bit more discerning in the swill that you choose to swallow down, Colonel.

I quote Robert Frost: "A liberal is a man too broadminded to take his own side in a quarral."
