The situation is not good. Why would the police charge at peaceful protesters. Those people thought they were about to be killed!! Each Police man is equipped with 1000's of Dollars worth of Military Armour and weaponry. When they decide to repress us completely, it will be swift and brutal...and there will be nothing we can do about it. I don't wish to create fear.....but. Were getting to a stage where we will be powerless if we decide we want change. Our internal enemys have grown powerful (the government) and we have to fight for revolution now. It is we the people that deserve to be free. We must fight the Fascism that threatens us daily..

well said. i have experienced of many marches / demos / protests in london (uk) against such horrors as the poll tax, the vearious criminal justice bills, anti-rave legislation (which criminalised 'repetitive beats' - i kid you not...), then there's reclaim the streets, and more...

there are always aggresive chumps who start provoking the police, but there are always agents provocateurs too, you can spot them easily when you know what to look for... and then the riot plod appear, already dressed and equipped, some on horses, then it all kicks off, and otherwise-peaceful demonstrators take action to protect themselves and retaliate... this is the way it always goes.

it's interesting to see how the MSM uses these events - either blanket coverage (as propaganda) or alternatively the whole thing doesn't get reported... two sick arms of the sick PTB doing their thing (polis and msm)

ultimately, the only way we get major law changes or regime changes is by civil disobedience - to change a law, first you must break it.

and one maxim to go by when you've had enough - "F**K POLITICS - LET'S RIOT!!"

new world order? it's the NOW WORLD ORDER

party for your right to fight!

How can you people laugh about this or poke fun at the crazy police lady? Do you not realize that she is intimidating the crowd so they will think twice to protest? Bunch of morons on here...

You have to poke fun now and then otherwise you'll just get depressed.

Videos like this don't really matter because it's only people like us here on ATS who will see it. Normal people won't believe that the police do this.

What someone needs to do is catch this woman with her uniform on and do a side by side to show proof that the police do this.

This may sound offbeat, but I think 2010 World Cup Soccer (or Football) introduced us to something that the protestors could use as a tool in the near future. Instead of destructive rioting or just merely sitting around like pacifist hippies, imagine heavy deployment of the South African weapon of mass annoyance? Would any city in its right mind welcome a G20 arrival if they also expected to be surrounded by a crowd that sounds like a 130db loud mass of angry bees that buzzed for hours on end...

Of course something as annoying as the vuvuzela may backfire, people might cheer the cops for driving the protestors away. Then again, if they stayed mobile enough such that the cops had to chase them everywhere around town - maybe that would get more public notice than just staying in one spot... (I'm sure that would get people to look out windows to wonder what the heck was going on.)

And on the main topic, what the cops were doing there was dirty. Sooner or later it's going to come back to them. Maybe some college kid working at the donut shop will recognize them or whatever... (
Hows that coffee btw?) As they say, karmic justice happens.

Are you seriously comparing countries like the US and Canada (or even other european countries who host G20 meetings) to 3rd countries?

Sir, in those countries, people loose their arms because they don't vote for the militia who threatens them.

Again, you are watching too many movies, and making too many stuff up in your mind.

A friend of mine was arrested in the protest of the meeting between Bush and Blair that decided the Iraq/Afghan war in Azores.

He tried to throw eggs at somebody important that would happen to pass in front of him. He was trying to do so, when a undercover cop grabbed his arm, putted hand-cuffs on him, and thrown him into the police van.

You know what happened? He was there for 3 hours, until the protesters left, and then the cops set him free.

Justice systems are already at their maximum, do you really think that in the real world, they are going to prosecute 100, 200 or 300 people?

People create monsters where there are none.

Sir, what Mr. Hawaiiguy had written is not as far-fetched as you presumed.

In 2007, the unarmed Burmese monks marched on to Rangoon to face its Dictators, not to plead for themselves, but for the alleviation of the sufferings and hunger of its people in the face of droughts and crisises.

The brutual dictators answer was bullets fired upon the monks head on. Many died. There were Burmese secret agents in plainclothes who fingered the civilians who joined in the monks pleadings, were rounded up, tossed into military vans and shoot, never heard again.

It did not end there, as the dictator's goons went into the sacred Burmese temples, places of sanctuary and peace in the middle of the night. The villagers nearby heard shots and the agonised screamings all night from the temples throughout Burma.

The next morning, as these simple village farmers went about their duties, saw to the horror of dead monk bodies floating on the canals and rivers. It was a message to the civilians.

I, an apathetic once person, saw those untouched photos and tears welled up in my ears. Why. I asked, they were only unarmed monks not seeking for anything for themselves.....

While today Canada is not Burma, BUT if every Canadian turns the other way, then the authorities and the Gestapo will soon do as the Burmese did.

Power corrupts and absolute power unchecked corrupts absolutely. The police and the military are armed, and only protect the rich and powerful, not the People.

The citizens are unarmed and only soft skinned. Thus every Canadian and every human on Earth MUST fight against such repression where and whenever it happens. No more turning the other way or apathy, or escalation will grow from both sides.

I had never advocated violence and still don't, but now I see why the wise American founding fathers included the 2nd amendment in the constitution.

Just as a nation would use an armed military to maintain peace against rogue nations, so too were the civilians armed to protect themselves should a rogue govt props themselves onto the throne.

When such a day happens, brother killing brother, then mankind deserves to be wiped out once and for all before it contaminates the Universe. The divine Teachers sent to Earth to help who had faith in humanity, had failed...

That has to be the ugliest woman I have ever seen in my entire life! She could shame Medusa!

Take her gun and baton away and just have her glare at people for Christ's sake. That face is a deadly weapon.

its more of letting the people have their right to protest. NOT to promote violence, but to keep their rights.

it's the brutal physical way that the cops treat people that warrant the same on them.

a girl from a nearby town was arrested on the train into the city because they searched her and found a gas mask.... so even preparing for potential trouble or the likely response of tear gas from the cops, is wrong.. wtf. Not to mention getting searched and detained while being nowhere near the zone.

This is wrong. It's wise to pack a gas mask when heading to a protest. Media outlets provided masks to their reporters/camerapeople.

It is pretty clear that the black bloc served their purpose. They were police that justified the expense of security, and to alienate average people from protests. I was at the protests all weekend. Only one protester I saw was out of hand enough to justify arrest. Every other arrest was completely uneccesary. Peaceful protesters, journalists, and anyone who was around was arrested. Police brutality was common. It was sad because it was unneccesary. The detention centers were terrible from those I spoke with. Cages where food and water were withheld, and access to restrooms was denied. Why did the police feel it was neccesary to do this?

Or this

What bothers me about this post is that no one here is placing any responsibility on the protesters. These people are RIOTING, destroying private property, attacking citizens, attacking law enforcement, but NO, they are perfectly in their right to protest. Yes, they are perfectly within their right to protest, but NOT USING VIOLENCE! The police are using excessive force, that much is true. Do they use undercover officers in the crowd, without a doubt. Do they use agent provocateurs? Hardly, they don't need to, there are enough socialist, anarchist and violent groups which show up to these meetings they police hardly need to use anyone to stir up trouble.
I think we're really stretching on this one.

oh, look. first and only post on ATS, "templarmike". joined up just to sow doubt that all the rioting was STARTED by police?
i love the smell of NWO propaganda in the morning.
playing the mob like a violin is old hat to the "NWO" faction.

I have been here for months and I agree with him. The people who were rioting deserved everything they got. It's too bad the police didn't not crack down earlier. Unfortunately that led to innocent people being arrested.

Just heard that the police chief now admits that the special power he talked about, that everyone within 5 meters of the security fence could be stopped and searched, never existed. Time for the chief to be fired.

Bein' a grey lizard variety Scorp myself, I find her kinda cute in a
STRONG way. On the other side of the coin, traffic stops go really
fast for me, for some reason... and babys cry as I approach.

In all seriousness, we gotta get some of these girls a pizza and backrub.
God knows they all deserve one each a month; otherwise they become
HER. What would really scare me, though, is seeing her smile for some reason.
