You are absolutely right. Alaskan doesn't understand that even though face book is the downfall of society as we know it, it is also a great tool to find people for a cause. You never know, the originator might protest daily and send 29 letters to their senator every day.

Maybe those 800,000 people could better utilize their activism in the real world instead of some internet popularity scheme?

They are!!! Can't you read past the first line?

Some gas stations were switching brands or closing.

OMG How could you miss that?

Apparently the OP typed and quoted far too fast for you?

I've gone to double spacing posts.

Headlining the important words... too many posters just don't read before they shoot their load.

LOLOL Thank God you double spaced...I know SOMEONE was just about to shoot their wad again!

And now we return control of your channel!

Oh boo hoo, who cares, I don't, and for the same reason I would like to see meat markets closed down and butchers/murderers toss out into the streets.

Then where would be get our steak and mince and lamb from then?

We need butchers.

Also why do you associate butchers with murderers? Or are you on of those unrealistic vegan types who criticises people's diets?

I think boycotting BP is stupid and childish! It doesn't hurt BP it hurts the men and women who work in their stores and their families. It's not their fault this happened so why should they have to suffer as a result when they are just working to support themselves. I don't care for BP but I am not gonna boycott the store and then sit there and watch an innocent worker lose their job. Enough people have suffered from this, no more should have to.

I had thought of this too, as shop owners should not be punished for BP's actions...but I also refuse to buy gas from BP.

At a BP station, the only thing BP really makes any money from is gas. The owners make their money off of cokes, cigarettes, junk food, beer, etc.

So, my solution is that I will happily go in and buy my cigarettes, drinks, etc. to support the store owner, but I will not pump one drop of BP gas.

If you want to support the shop owners, I think that is admirable...but please don't buy your gas from that vile company.

There's a "Boycott BP" page here on FB with nearly 24,000 fans:

www.facebook.com...#!/pages/Boycott-BP/117399928280305?ref=ts

(I don't think the links works correctly, but search on FB and you'll find it.)

Hasn't anyone told you... Facebook isn't designed to be used for empowerment of the people. It was started by the CIA. and it's main purpose is to collect every little bit of information they can about you. I bet whoever signed up for the ban BP group is now on some creepy watch list. You should expect this kind of thing from the CIA.

They probably had no choice but to put it back up after CNN reported it.

Not bothered to read beyond your post yet so I don't know if anyone else has said this yet, but SERIOUSLY DUDE...! What are you smoking?

Facebook is not "somebody else's page" as you said; it's a social networking utility - the main appeal of such is that everything on facebook.com is is co-authored by its membership..!

Those 800,000 people were perfectly entitled to utilise the available networking space to further the cause put forward by the OP. More power to the people...!

Well done OP for making the point here on ATS - well done to the OP of the facebook page; I'l be adding you as a 'friend' / become a fan later.

I'm glad the page wasn't gone for long; but I wonder - did the 800,000 fans get automatically reinstated as fans/friends of the Boycott BP page..? If not, it is almost certainly a cynical ploy by the PTB to disrupt the cohesion of protesting citizens. They could comfortably say it was a 'technical error' and no-one could prove anything else.

B******S.

NB - the flaming B**S etc is aimed at the Powers That Be... Not at the ATS user Divinorumus..! I have zero malice towards anyone here at ATS. Except maybe Harte

NOAH.

EDIT to clarify the flaming smiley..!
