So I was watching Fox New Channel the other day (Saturday). It was "America's New Center". I was kinda half watching it, half talking to my girlfriend. So you will forgive me if I don't remember every detail. It was a commercial break, and I think it was the first commercial. Anyway when the commercial cut, in between the show ending and the commercial starting, I think I saw something I wasn't supposed to see.

Basically it was just a quick flash, less than a second. Whatever it was was definetely inside, either a studio or an empty room. It appeared to be an oversized, loose fitting hood made of black plastic. Almost like a heavy duty trash bag. It had goggles either set into it, or on top of it.

It didn't move or make any sound. Just a flash of a chemical hood or suit, all black, inside a white room. Then the normal commercial started.

What on earth could I have seen? I have a few ideas. I am ruling out schizophrenia on my end. I am 35 and there is no history of it in my family. So if anyone has any ideas, let me know...

I don't believe in hallucinations like that anyway.

I think what you saw was real.

Thanks for sharing. I don't have TV so unless we have a youtube video I won't get to see it.

Perhaps it was some sort of subliminal thing?

You said it looked like a chemical protection suit?

Although it is deeply concerning; I do not know what to make out of it. Call me confused...

Maybe it is part of a viral marketing campaign or something. Or some other subliminal marketing strategy??

Or like you said, it could have been totally a mistake and a screw up on the part of the network, and some kid could have pressed the wrong buttons.

But, where would they have a legit reason for this? IDK....

I mean if it's a kid's mistake, where is the button that puts up a flash of a chemical suit mask?? Why is that button even there?

You see where I am going with that...

No matter how you cut this down, it's still weird and freaky.

Thanks for sharing alpha chino.

If you could obtain a screen shot of it that would really help...the episode you watched should be available somewhere on the internet. I'd be interested to see it. My mum was taking photos one time, and Ren & Stimpy (quite an old cartoon) was on in the background. In one of the pictures, she had captured on the TV what appeared to an empty blue room with a table in the center if memory serves me correctly. We were 100% sure it wasn't in the show because several of us were watching it, and the weird thing was, the picture we had captured on the screen didn't look like a cartoon at all. Perhaps there could be a connection here, I'll see if she still has the photos...

I apologize, the name of the show is "America's news room". How wierd is it that when you google the name of the show, most of the hits have to do with the attractive blonde host of the show?

I wish I could obtain a screenshot. If so, I wouldn't really have any questions. I tried searching on google and came up empty. If anyone here has that show Tivo'd and it's from Cox cable in San DIego, it may be on there.

That is really freakin weird. Assuming you aren't making this up. Reminds me of that movie "They Live."

Not sure how they do it there, but here they often have local commercials that are automatically spliced over the top of the national network feed.

Invariably, they start or end a second or two early, giving you a blink of the other commercial. Sometimes it's sort of tough to figure out what it was.

Unfortunately, I cannot help the OP with what he saw. But I can add that I have seen several "flashes" of either subliminal messages or advertising recently at the same time the op stated they saw theirs. As shows are just cutting to break, you get a quick flash of "something", not sure what it could be. I recently put it down to a local add being placed over a National ad by the local Cable or Satellite company...

It could be something more sinister though.

Do you recall seeing anything else in the white room at all. The reason I ask is a lot of studios have various props for upcoming shows. Seems if this was a prop for a show other items would be in the room. Very interesting - do you think you could find a black chemical suit image similar to what you saw - I too will search around. Good spot

I'm sure it was just a commercial for Pesticides that accidentally cut in while watching. Commercials cutting in doesent happen as often as it did before everything went digital, but it still happens. Atleast once a month where I live

Thank you for mentioning that. I am used to seeing the "local" commercial come on after the network commercial. I would think that is what this was, but unless it was a commercial for some strange horror movie I can't imagine what it was. I mean this was just wierd. I was just stunned for several minutes afterward. And if it was a commercial, I would have seen it again. I watch a lot of TV. I suppose I shouldn't eliminate that as a possibility. I just don't know what commercial opens with a wierd looking black plastic hood? That is why I am perplexed.

I have just searched site:foxnews.com for your flash you had on your screen, I have found a couple pics that might have been what you seen. Can you rule these out for us ?

Or maybe just maybe, you got a flash of the entity of who the foxnews execs get their editing and programming orders from.

OK good jokes, but no. This is the gray area though. So it's cool to throw out some ideas. I actually spent a good amount of time searching the web for something similar to what I saw. Nothing looked even close. Even all the pics of chemical suits, and chemical hoods looked different. What I saw looked more like a homemade prop or something. Sorry I can't explain it better.

I saw something strange in the cut for the commercial break on Fox News. I wish I knew what it was, because it kind of freaked me out. And I have watched a lot of TV over the years...

WiredAmerican... You are hilarious! LMFAO! Best response to an OP that I have seen on ATS. As for the topic, there can be a million guesses to what it was. I think that the explanations of a bad edit are your best answer.

But WA just stole your post.

Don't Intel commercials have people in "clean suits" with hoods in white rooms? Just throwing out an idea.

What you saw was Bill O'Reilly getting into costume before his show.

Glad that some people actually believe me, even without any photos or video. I appreciate the support!

It definetely was not an Intel commercial either. I have seen those and this was something different. I am going to keep searching the web and see what I can come up with.

Thanks guys!

Sounds like a homemade bio suit from the way you described it,

I didn't see it so I cannot say for sure but it would work in a pinch if needed,

With all the chatter and predictions of a nuke attack online,It wouldn't surprise me if it was a subliminal message.

This might be a bit of a pointless post from me, but that really rings a bell for me, and am looking an image I'm sure I have in a pile of old PC Powerplay magazines.

I'll try to describe the image I'm thinking of: figure in black 'garbage bag' with darkened goggles attached (almost looked like welding goggles.) The bag wasn't pulled tight around the head, and as a result the bag was slightly rectangular in shape; i.e you could see the corners on either side of the head.

The image I'm thinking of came from a demo of ID softwares Tech 5 engine, and is being used to create a game called Rage.

Not saying this is what you saw, but for some reason it really stands out in my mind. Will post a scan when I find the image I'm thinking of.
