As with most advancements in science, the possibilities could have a good or evil use. Now the human genome research could possibly enable people with evil intentions, the capability of targeting gene specific victims. Kinda scary but does not surprise me. It doesn't appear to be mission capable right now but I'd keep my eyes and ears open to this potential in the near future......

It's not surprising really, pretty much with every scientific breakthrough comes a potential for misuse. I mean look at nuclear energy. We can use it for powering our homes, or for destroying cities. And its not like if we keep solely in the hands of the government it will not be misused. Its just that we probably won't know they exploited this breakthrough for military prowess until they actually use it on people. Even though it might be classified for national security reasons.

Man can turn any kind of technology into a weapon, and for the greater part they have. Why would this be any surprizing?
