I actually work at CENTCOM, and so far, to my knowledge, no plan to evacuate the command to Qatar for COOP has been made or announced.

I have a three month old son, and I am acutely aware of the danger this spill could possibly present. Thus far, I have noticed no change in air quality... if I did you can rest assured I would be more than alarmed and do whatever is necessary to protect my family, as well as alert the good people of ATS.

I have even done my own, miniscule, almost-scientific testing on rainwater collected last weekend... and nothing was out of the ordinary.

I'm not saying we won't see anything from this... I'm certain that, in time, we will. I'm saying that currently Tampa is not experiencing anything out of the ordinary.

That's on the eastern side so if fumes are traveling that far??? NOT GOOD

I would prepare an evac map now and use plastic laminate to cover it. I think You would want to head straight up through into Georgia and take a flight out there......go enjoy the rocky mountains this summer. You have enough$$$

Good work

Same here. I cannot personally verify what he and his family are saying, but they wouldn't have any reason to make anything up. I told my bro to keep his eyes wide open when driving around and monitor military/Guard, police activity. Even if its not announced, the elevation in local activity should be a warning shot for him. They haven't seen any unusual precip, but it seems as though the evaporates from the gulf have been blowing that way. I lived there for about 2 years, and there was almost always a gulf wind coming in.

So, you're suggesting stealing from others for your own survival?

Steal, that's such a harsh word. The government doesn't call it stealing when they take from you, they call it tax. Think of it as socialism, the haves sharing with the have-nots, involuntarily, lol. Think of it as welfare for yourself this time, payback for all those meals that were taken ..err I mean, tax away from you.

In any event, I'm already prepared for the worst. I saw catastrophe coming many many many years ago. I've posted and blogged about the end of the world as we know for a long time now, with 89% of humanity gone by 11/11/2011 (give or take a few days). It's going to get worse too. I even posted about it here back on April 2nd, before the humans committed another crime against nature by attacking and stabbing mother Earth and making her bleed into the gulf. Yup, I'm ready, been ready for years.

Prepare for the worst, and do what you must, but beware, this is a war between humanity and mother nature, and humanity is going to loose. I've seen it already. Run and hide if you can.

Oh, btw, if you need to evacuate, far far up north, way up in Canada, will be your safest location, some place where you'll need a plane to fly into, some place where the masses with guns won't find you. If and when the USA crashes, so will the rest of the world .. and the industrial age will be over, and chaos will ensue, especially when people realize their brand new iPhone4 doesn't work any more .. along with a whole bunch of other stuff.

Very smart post (IMO), and thanks for the help.

A few problems though....

1) I can't access said stocks. Just asked my parents, and they said I won't be allowed to touch it until i'm 30 (lol wat)

2) They will not and refuse to believe me unless it appears first on some mass media network. We all know how well THAT would turn out.

3)Even if this does appear on some mass media network, they say it's "bullsh*t" and plan on riding it out unless something like 10 hurricanes and and earthquake come here.

4) I can't buy any said equipment needed for a bug out bag (well, whatever $200 can get me, as well as stuff I can get from home or friends who also think this is BS (everyone))

So, I'd pretty much have to hitchhike to Georgia, then sneak on a plane trip to (insert place here). Or steal my parents car.

Well, looks like the time for Floridians is quickly running up. I'd like opinions of the ATS'ers of when I should evac Florida. (Other Gulf states also would be nice for others in concern)

I most defintiely do NOT want to wait until FEMA announces the plan. Highways will be so clogged up I doubt i'd get even close to halfway out of FL.

www.fourwinds10.com...

This could give you an idea what could be in our future. This will be each

and every families decision in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and

Alabama when to evacuate if need be unless mandatory ^Y^

Now that I think on it some I would buy a gun on the street tomorrow! Because you can believe if a disaster happens most of the people will be unprepared and attempt to rob you. No way in the world would I prepare all this contingencies and have some cretin attempt this.

Americans may have a unique opportunity for really seeing now what some of my cousins deal with in Afghanistan, roving gangs, bribery, corrupt govt officials (sorry you already have that),,,,,,,my point is this especially LOKE ATS person.......Until you witness this activity first hand you are ill-prepared making assumptions on how life is in another part of the world.

and so after this event America can decide whether this adventurism policy is a goal it can achieve, obviously if you can't provide for you're own people meddling in other governments is stupid.

Per Iraq? I could care-less what you do there if a nuclear weapon falls off a jet i'm fine with it, and most of the worl probably would be also!

Most Florida homes south of the central part of the state are concrete block or brick.

Thanks for this! Haven't watched it yet, but I will be sure to.

Unless there's a CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc. logo on these videos or articles, however, the parents will say it's conspiracy bull (you can tell how much fun i've had at home for the last few months, i'm sure)

My mom's biggest concern is me filling out applications at K-Mart (already tried 3 other stores, and 22 year olds with actual college degrees are trying for the same jobs)

edit: For people concerned about the oil smell and sickness of my family, I have absolutely no idea if this is accurate or not. The kids tend to get sick pretty often, and the oil could be their overactive imaginations (I have it too :roll
Their minds could be getting to them or not, I can't tell. Even if they are misunderstanding what they saw, I still am planning on evacing somewhat soon.

I'm in Merritt Island and I was wondering the same thing. People here are so oblivious to what is going on. I want out like last week! I am going out of town this weekend and when I get back I am seriously thinking about working to relocate in the next month. I have nothing keeping me here.

YES BUG-OUT BAG

I forget the term a search on youtube is great for this

Start scavenging secretly around your parents home, Buy a good cheap military spec backpack on ebay or an army/navy store! and one full tang survival knife.

when parents buy bottled water EVERYONE DOES sneak bottles out and store them in a hidden place, rope, fishing line, clothes, etc etc SCAVENGE

If this is really a survival situation as some of you think..... your parents own gold jewelry and stuff that you can not get caught stealing sell on ebay and also prepare bug out bags for them with the money. Allah and God will forgive you on this since they didn't have the sense.....Otherwise you shouldn't steal, nothing good ever comes from it.

I too have a pool.

My pool is open to you too, Ath. You can probably find some blueberry pancakes in the freezer also. Homemade.

Serious though, since my mom is forcing me to go to a few K-Mart's, i'm going by a book store and picking up a survival guide. Probably some other supplies too, haven't decided yet.

Why buy a survival guide? You can download them for free in PDF/ ebooks and store on a flashdrive. Plus youtube and studying!

From the sound of it you have no $$$$$ so why are you spending it?????

You should never spend $$$$ when you have no job UNLIKE OBAMA you can't spend what you don't have and print more money like he does! The secret service/FBI will catch you on this one.....Only Obama/Geithner can print more money!

Try to get the SAS Survival guide. It's actually pretty good, and a good read. Keep your supplies simple and light. A pocket LED flashlight, beef jerkey, emergency blanket, dependable pocket knife, matches, small tarp, crank radio, hard candy, meds, some bottled water (puritabs will not remove oil junk from water), and so forth.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just buy a gun and then take what you need when you need it? And have a crossbow and slingshot for backup in case you run out of ammo, it's easier to make your own ammo for those things.

I know this is off topic and if it is deleted thats OK. But, I have to say this; people with your train of thought is exactly why I am armed. You are called freebooters. You will have a very short life span in a SHTF world.

I wasn't planning on bringing my laptop with me in my survival kit, tbh. But i'd put anything i'd need on a flashdrive.

You're right, I don't have too much to spend... How much would an average BOB cost, for all nescessary supplies? Ballpark figures, no need for super accurate guesses.

Amen.

The best possible 'survival' strategy is to either get out before the SHTF, or to travel quickly, lightly, and without being seen. I think way too many people glorify "Mad Max" or "Book of Eli" when they think of situations like this.

Hollywood doesn't have any clue how it would play out, and for the most part, neither does anyone else. Adaptability and resourcefulness are your best friends in a world gone mad.
