This is not a scam. There is no way the driver who struck the other vehicle, without insurance, would ever come out on top.

I got mashed by an uninsured driver... my insurance tried to sue them but they had no assets or means of paying so it was fruitless.

Looking back, the scene was hilarious. First thing the woman did was apologize and do all the OMG OMG OMG are you okay?! act... and then when the cop showed up, holy crap, the switch went on and she was off like a bottle rocket. Cussing, yelling, screaming... all about me for hitting her. Lied to the cop and said that I had passed 4 cars across a double yellow lol (a lie).

Reflecting it is clear to see at first she knew she was totally and royally screwed... but thought she saw an out if she could get the cops to believe her. But it's hard to do when there is skid marks, and two cars positioned the way they were! They spent a good 30-45 minutes taking pictures, measuring skid marks... doing some pretty keen investigative work. There was no way that woman would get away with it.

It was a joke.

The cop knew it was a joke as soon as he knew she didn't have insurance.

I got a new car.

Thanks uninsured drivers insurance! (you should really look into it... it's pretty cheap considering)

But basically, having been in this very situation, the person without insurance gets figuratively raped. This thread is less scam and more "fear the illegals." No stars or flags for you.

ps: can anyone provide a link to one of these "scams" these illegals are pulling?

Wow! I was not aware of such scams! I am glad you posted this here for all to read!
I do not think I will be a target anytime soon however.. But its good to know!
I guess driving a junker car is not all that bad now..
When you roll in your fancy car, you had better be fully aware these days!

Its just one thing after another.. But not all of these Immigrants know about this scam.. And I think its better that way..

Well anyway.. Thanks for the thread.. I am off to work.. In my junker!

In my state, it doesn't matter if you drive a nice car or and old car. In a no fault state, the driver's insurance pays the driver's medical bills. Anybody can be a target. It doesn't matter who it is. In my past training I was taught to leave car length intervals between me and the car in front of me. It is not unusual to come to a stop intersection and have the scammer put on his brakes quickly. It doesn't matter whose fault it is. You would get a ticket and they still collect fromo their own insurance.

I have seen studies suggesting US undocumented immigrants commit crimes at the same or lower rates than the rest of the US population. Have you ever seen a study suggesting anything other than that?

There is no immigration problem. There is a welfare problem.

And yes undocumented immigrants do take jobs... but they could just as easily take away your job right from Mexico where they are where low wages cause jobs to be shipped from the US to Mexico.

If undocumented Mexicans taking your job are a problem then ordinary American citizens are a bigger problem since they have a bigger chance at taking your job seeing as how there are more of them and they are likely going to be better qualified.

Okay, I did. And after about 10 minutes of this obscure google search I can only ask...

What loophole and how does it apply in this situation?

You also have no proof he was an illegal, I drive around all the time without my license because I simple forget it.

Huh? You can drive without a license where you live? Isnt it against the law?
Why I live in San Bernardino county and someone forget my license when I go out for a jog then drive to the store to get something to drink.

First, tell me how you knew he was mexican.

Second, tell me how he was going to profit off this if he was the one who ran into the mercedes. In other words, what was the scam?

The scam is that the illegal will then make a claim against the other driver's insurance, claiming that they were hurt in the crash and getting a payout from the other driver's insurance company.

They will get a sympathetic doctor to document their "injuries" for the insurance company.

The driver that was hit not only has to pay for the repair to his own car, but also has to pay increased premiums due to the claim against his insurance.

Regardless of whether he was Mexican or not, he was not able to produce ID or anything that showed he was in the USA legally and should have been arrested and processed through INS.
You still don't know if he is illegal or not you are still just jumping to conclusions newbe. Look at all the things that happened and most of them are caused by you and your people. Trying to police the world, trying to manipulate things. Also illegals are not the only ones doing this, there are a lot of citizens that are doing all sorts of scams with shoplifting and computer fraud. Oh let me guess do you think illega's are hacking and doing computer fraud? Most identity theft is not to take someones identity but to use it for credit cards and buy things. Thank you newbe

There you go again, talking. You do not even know if he was Mexican. I swear hearing you is like an annoying little child. You have no proof he tried to scam, no proof he was Mexican or even an illegal. And he never made any money.

Listen up mam, my parents came here from Mexico, they became resident's then citizens and they are elderly people now. My father and mother still do not know perfect english. They talk a little confused so HMM are they illegals. Go back to unemployment line mam.

Viva la raza.

This is an old scam. Illegals were doing this over 10 years ago in California. Sometimes they do it just in order to have an excuse to sue you, other times they'll do a smash n grab. Rear end ya, wait for you to get out, then you get mugged.

Gotta laugh at people falling over themselves to be politically correct. Sheltered little lap dogs who haven't seen it with their own eyes. Just wait until it happens to you. Happened to my parents.

...its not about being sheltered and not seeing it with ones own eyes...its about opening BOTH eyes and not being so mono-culturally myopic in perspectives...

I was a non-citizen in the US, had no car insurance, rear ended some gal in an accident, ambulance came, cops, neck in a brace etc. I apologized profusely. It was a slight tap to her bumper at about 10mph. approx.

the lady found out I had no insurance and insisted on getting out of the ambulance and refused to press charges etc.

She had to go with them anyways, cops left, nothing ever became of it. Never heard from any of them again. Weird.

Okay, granted I don't know you, you could be an upstanding person..
HOWEVER.. this gets two friggin flags?
REALLY?
You drove without insurance.. Did you even have a drivers license?
Was someone dying, and you had to rush them to the hospital? Were you the only one around who could possibly drive??

Yes you apologized, yes you didn't mean to bumper tap her.. yes you were damn lucky she wasn't hurt. But you chose to drive illegally.

I am exposed to someone who blames "Illegal Aliens" for almost every problem in this country on a daily basis, whining little babies....

If all of the undocumented people in this country were rounded up and gone, who would you blame for everything then?.

You would just proceed on to the next marginalized group nearby, and blame them.

Blame yourself for allowing your corrupt government to rule you.

Blame yourself for verifying your own ignorance online for all to see.

Marginalize yourself.

I don't know who we would blame but it would be an interesting experiment. When can we start?

this is a massive problem here in the UK.

about a year ago, an asian Man was prosecuted for a £2m scam empire whereby he would hit peoples car and pocket a certain amount of the insurance payout and the other person (lets call them the 'hit'ee'!) basically had their car written off and got a new car.

This guy made a GOOD living out of his scams!!

It's common knowledge that it's rife over here but there's not much the Insurance Companies OR the Police seem to want to do (or are able for that matter...)

what they do is load up a car full of people and then sit in a lane right next to a turn lane. when it's your turn to go they will cut you off and then drive about 20 feet and slam on the brakes.

Scams are scams. I personally suspect some of my own family members in some of these scams.

I just find it curious that they have been in several accidents, never their fault, and always seem to get a nice settlement out of it.

Sadly, I think I have met them.

Well, I have definatley been in "Accidents" I believe were scams... numerous times, I mean like one was a stupid broad who turned left from the right lane of the four lane road two coming towards me and two lanes going my way, but the lanes were for left turn only (left lanes) and the right lanes for right turn and forward only. They waited till a bus I let go left though I had the right of way straight forward has right of way over left trun, anyway let the bus go because I yeild to school busses for obvious reasons, and anyway I saw the dumb *SNIP* pull out of the gas station into the right lane no blinker like she was going straight and of course I had the clear to go and then the dumb *SNIP* went left right as I decided to go she decides to turn left (obviously she knew what the hell she was doing) Also I had a new car. Obviously she was a scamming theiving whore. And she got away with it *SNIP* up my GD license to where now I cannot drive in my home state. Because let me tell you, these *SNIP* have a grapevine and tell OH I SCAMMED THEM YOU can TOO!!!!AND THEY DID!!!! Of course it makes you look the wrong one because of having "multiple" *SNIP* accidents, so they know what they're doing!!!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER again BUY A NEW CAR---- EVER!!!!!

And let me edit to add all of these were white poor *SNIP* trailer trash americans citizens , excepting one who was Peurto Rican, probably friends with my old man's ex seeing how she knew them all, which is the only thing that made him highly suspect.

*Mod Edit - hold off on the swears. Cheers - alien

These are the three scams that I fell victim to...

Sideswipe - The same as it sounds. Where there's a multiple turn lanes at an intersection, be on the lookout for someone who takes a left turns until another car swiftly maneuvers into the lane whereas the perpetrator suddenly speeds up to force a collision.

T-Bone - Carefully planned, this tactic usually conducted when there isn't anyone around who could counteract the eyewitness accounts of bogus witnesses. The scammer waits at an intersection until a car comes along and deliberately rams into it as the car passes. After the police arrive, phony witnesses (who were waiting nearby) tell the police officer the victim improperly ran a stop sign or red light.

Wave - Used when there's a lot of traffic with a driving situation that includes a merge and/or "right of way". Feigning politeness, the scam artist waves to the victim, indicating that they're yielding the right of way to them. As the victim begins to go, the scam artist rapidly accelerates to cause an accident. When police arrive, the perpetrator rejects the victim's assertion that they gave up the right of way to them.

For all those interested here's an informative article on scams insurance fraud and is the source of that quote above:

Auto Accident Scams

I also feel that you all should know a little background, so you understand why I say I was scammed. I have driven 13 years with no accidents. All those times I had a beater, a crap car, The one year that I had this brand new Hyundai, that's the year ALL these "accidents" occurred. So much so, I released the car volentarily to the loan company, I had had enough, now you may say "but it's a freaking Hyundai" so I must explain that yes it was a hyundai, and yes it makes a lot more sense if I had had a Beamer or Mercedes, but I explain to you, you want to hit someone you know will be able to 1)pay insuranc, 2) most likely won't be able to afford a lawyer to defend them, this is crucial, you know someone with a hyundia brand new can and does have insurance, but since it's a mostly inexpensive new car, they will not necessarily have the money for a lawyer. and 3) the person is not a drug dealer whom will jsut kill you before you try to sue, which in the case of where I lived a lot of beamer and mercedes owners were drug dealers, a vast majority of them. You know someone selling drugs would never be caught dead in a HYUNDAI!!!! So there ya go!

I know I just asked this but I'm going to ask again because you didn't get the question. Where did you ever get the idea that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at any higher rate than any other group who lives in the US? I've heard word of mouth that the studies have shown undocumented immigrants commit crimes at equal or lower rates than everyone else.
