I have not read any of his books but he is one of the top guys if not the top.
I have watched documentaries he is in besides Chariots. He speaks with I believe a German accent. some of his discoveries are pretty amazing too.

I don;t often defend Daniken, but on this one it should be pointed out that. When Daniken first published his pictures of this. It was claimed by a number of skeptics, who had never even been to South America, that the relief could not be fully viewed so Daniken had made parts of it up. Having seen photos of the actual relief, on this one, Daniken wasn't making it up.
Don't forget the following. From the 1920s onwards, the accepted historical and view of Aztec and Mayan society was formed by a single professor from the USA who, never once in his life, actually visited the countries in question, let alone did any on site archaeology. It was that sort of lazy arrogant cultural imperialism, of the worst kind, that gave Daniken the tools to attack the established view

Beautiful artwork on the sarcophagus, and I'll admit it does appear to be a little more advanced than one would think you would find in something this old.

Look at it again and tell me why an artist would pose the figure and its' limbs in such a manner in a society with no history of even so much as the use of animals as mounts?

Since we werent alive then, didnt speak their language, or know their culture, you can ahrdly say its a spaceship... you base that off of your modern day idea of what a spaceship is and apply it to a centuries old pictograph...

You're probably right, but there are some interesting things he says which make you think. Are you saying he is just lying about everything? Some of the things he talked about seemed like he really believed what he was saying. All we can do is just do the filtering, somethings you might say naw, that can't be true and others you might get a sense that, ok I think that might be true. But who really can say for sure yes or no. I just find it interesting and like to explore the possibilities, anything is possible in my book.
