I'm about a mile from the Buffalo airport and didn't feel a thing. Hubs works next to the airport and didn't feel anything either. Of course we both have spent quite a bit of time on the west coast so unless it was really rocking and rolling here, we wouldn't notice.

Shakemap from the USGS

earthquake.usgs.gov...

I'm assuming the local variations are reverberations along valley walls aswell as local rock compositions and the depth to which the Earthquake took place (preliminary 11 miles.) This, given the location, is a example of Post-Glacial Rebound with a exeptional large event.

ZOMG, Blackjack!!!

Or just "Earthquakes in divers places" (Mark 13:8). The end of the world!

I mean, weird. It is certainly a bit uncanny.

Hey COOL, this was my first earthquake/tremor!

I felt my chair shaking for like 6-8 seconds, at my home in Brampton, Ontario.

One of my uncles' office building had to be evacuated.

My cousin was at a Walmart and thought she felt something too.

The last time this happened in my area, I slept through it. Everyone was talking about it that night, and I felt so left out.

Anybody have any idea where the epicenter was??

I'm having trouble accessing the Canadian Geological Survey website:

I'm way up in Timmins, Ontario and felt the shaking for about 20 seconds or so. Made my computer monitor and my chair wobble gently back and fourth. At first I thought it was a transport truck going by on the nearby highway, but now that I know the time this earthquake occurred I realize it's related.

Isn't that kind of unusual for an earthquake to happen in that area? I've been following NewEarthquake and the USGS on Twitter for a long while now and have never seen a quake in this area.

If there were any Blackjack believers in the area, they were freaking out!

Said to have been felt in Michigan and Ohio. Can't say I felt it here in Indy. I'll take my tornadoes - at least I can see em coming...and going! There is that New Madrid...

CNN now covering...

JUST IN!!

I spoked to some people around the area

Before the earthquack struck two military helicopters fell over above the clouds, just seconds before the earthquack.

A few weeks ago, I read a thread on the gulf oil and Madrid fault connection. Someone said that the great lakes would empty into the Mississippi River and cause a flood that would effectively split the continental US in two.

My question is this; is the area of this quake connected in any way to the New Madrid fault?

Last one I felt was a few years back, and it came on with a great big BANG! I was afraid it was the Nuke plant. This one...and I'm in Central Ontario now...it felt like somebody BIG was walking on the roof...I thought maybe a big wind had come up (cuz ther was apparently nobody on the roof)

Strange...what next? Locusts?

Just felt it a couple minutes ago, it lasted at least a minute. This is the second earthquake this week.

I live near Montreal, and I've only felt the two earthquakes in my life, both of which happned this week.

Something must be up.
