Besides , TPTB would not have to kill him , as everyone is supposing . They could legally detain him for questioning .
The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know.

He's so full of crap and self promotion.... Bradley Manning didn't disappear, he was arressted. And he should have been. Leaking classified documents. He's going to be convicted of treason, and rightfully so. I have no idea what all he leaked but I'm willing to bet some of it put American lives in danger.
Assange wants transparency, perhaps he should ahve some in his own company. I haven't seen him release one item without coloring it with his slant. If he truly wanted transparency he wouldn't engage in yellow journalism.

Assange appeared in public in Brussels for the first time in almost a month to speak at a seminar on freedom of information at the European parliament.
So looks like he's ok. What I don't understand is how he is still alive. The guy is speaking to the European government and is wanted by the U.S. for leaking important info that they wanted contained. Unless he is some sort of agent... which I don't think any can rule out, I don't see how he's walking freely or even alive.

If he is alive, there is a reason.

He probably cut a bargain, like "As long as nothing happens to me, so and so will never come to light...but if i dissapear, the deluge occurs...."

This could simply be paranoia but what if Wikileaks was a government front and people end up leaking things right to the government? I don't see how this guy could be alive otherwise.
