It is sad that you do not see the irony of the jobs been created in the nation, or the so call Service jobs while they indeed are jobs this jobs are in a range that will not help anybody get off the welfare and food stamps programs many jobs offered are part time jobs this mean even with the HCR you still be under Medicaid so yes is jobs out there but you still will depend on government assistance for your needs.

This means that is a big lie when it comes to people trying to better themselves or the the lazy ones that do not want to work, if you can not better yourself with a job because it doesn't take you out of the welfare then why work.

Look, your hasty generalizations aren't helping me find work. I've been out of work since November. Since then I have submitted over 400 resumes!!! I have received about 4 interviews and ZERO offers.

Are you married? Do you have children? Do you have a mortgage? A car payment? It is so easy to point fingers when you have never walked a mile in someone else's shoes!

I used to make 6 figures, was a Director, had almost 100 people beneath me and - BAM - company announces that there will be no paychecks this week, the company is closing its doors for good! Still doesn't solve the problem of having to pay a mortgage, feed and cloth my children, make car and utility payments etc...

The old "Just go get a job" argument is tired and worthless. I have tried - REPEATEDLY - to get ANY job I could yet I remain unemployed. Want to know how many resumes I sent out today? 17... so far! Phone isn't ringing yet. Maybe I should just go get a job or something!
Oh wait, that's right... I'M TRYING TO!!!

Another problem we collectively have in America, is that we are all becoming victim mentalities.

I do not believe I am a victim though.

I believe I am powerful and capable of anything.

I believe that we can create new businesses and provide new jobs, if we wanted to.

I believe that no matter how many regulations they impose to prevent you from creating a new business, there are always loopholes and ways past them.

I believe that we the people can solve all of our own problems.

Rather than seeking government and legislators for solutions, we have to create them ourselves for ourselves.

If you have big plans, go try to put them into action.

This economy has plenty of room to grow into. And there are tons of areas that have not been exploited yet.

If you have an idea that will make money, get up and go try to make it a reality.

No more victims. Let's empower ourselves to set things right.
No more complaining. Let's make America better with our own sweat and blood.

Every generation has to make a sacrifice. This is ours.

Kozmo even my husband very well pay job is in jeopardy right now, is not way in hell that we with our living standards (that my husband have earned with his hard labor) will be met with a service job in case he lose his job right, now.

Our nation politicraps and greedy corporate America is turning this nation littler by littler into a welfare state while killing the once supporting middle class.

Right now my husband is waiting to see if he is to get a cut on his salary with Obama in sourcing jobs, his job is schedule to become a government job, he been a retire marine we do not need benefits as he earned them with his military career, but as today the IRS and State tax eats all his retirement money.

My daughter is going back to school even when she have two degrees already but have to settle with a service job something that while is a job at 26 she have to live at home with us due to income restrictions.

America is going backwards and we most thank the moron whores in Washington for that and their policies.

your claim that people are lazy don't want to work low paying jobs. Did you try one of those jobs yourself or you just blobbing your mouth. Get out and try, you will know the difference. I hate people that don't know anything yet they are very quick to open their mouth. Try to help people finding jobs instead of insulting them. There may be a few that fit your description but get close to them and find out why. Chances are that your findings will surprise you. As long you are reasonable, you will never blame them.

Well I guess you are screwing yourself.

You were a big shot director making big bucks. So you went and took loans and bought all this crap you cannot afford. Then reality hits and you are screwed.

I think it's funny, because I live on less than 12,000$ to feed 2 kids and a wife.

Why don't you get a grip? Live in a apartment. Get a cheap 2000$ clunker car.

Oh you submitted 400 resumes? That will never get you anywhere. Why? Resumes are for good jobs. Applications are for crap jobs.

I didn't hear you say anything about Applications. See we don't do this resume crap in the poor folks world.

And what is this crap about feeding and clothing your kids is so expensive? Mine have fine cloths, and eat very well with my measly 12,000 $ a year.

I think you are just used to living the good life and now you are upset that you are facing living within your means for once.

It's called budgeting and being logical economically.

You can't afford cable TV at my income bracket. You cannot afford anything except Rent, Electric, Gas, Internet, and Food. Thats all you can afford.

Just get over yourself and stop thinking your better than everyone else. And then go to the Gas Station, the Fast food joint, or to Elance.com and get a real job.

No, who am I kidding. You are too good for all of this.

These jobs are only for trash like the rest of us right? No one that made 100,000+ a year would ever stoop so low as to flip burgers....

Well if you live in that type of income then you fit very well in what is now the new America nation of welfare recipients.

For people like my husband and I that knew America when it was prosperous at our age is just a slap on the face that we are to lose what we earned through the years with hard labor.

I guess generations to come will have not complains.

No wonder the government no longer care the state of education in the nation as the new generations will have no need for education on the jobs been offered. . .

Good luck to you and better luck for your children's future.

I have 2 kids and a wife. We live on 12,000 $ a year roughly. Last year we made 9800$ total. TOTAL.

Our rent is 400$ a month.
Gas + Electric is about 150-175$ a month.

That is almost all of my money gone already.

But still, we eat very good. My kids have chicken, beef, pork, even fish sometimes for dinner. Plenty of veggies and fruits.

We even have enough money left over, for me to buy cigs and smoke. Then there is money left over for me to buy tons of Pepsi.

Then I have money left to pay for my Internet and video games.

I live on 12,000$ a year, feed and cloth 2 kids and a wife.
And I still afford leisures like smoking, gaming, etc.

I just cannot STAND it when greedy selfish spoiled people come telling me they are poor and cant make it by with their 50,000$ a year job.

I do admit, when I see them lose that job and cry about it. I laugh my rear off it's a excellent twist of fortunes. Schadenfreude indeed.

I am not on any government welfare of any type.

My credit is too poor to get any loans.

I make it by with what I have.

If I cannot afford it, I don't get it.

It's very simple.

And consider this. In the Third World nations, I am rich as hell.

I may seem all poor and welfare to you folks, but in other lands, I am richer than any of them.

My kids eat every day. Kids in other lands starve.
My kids have new shoes. Kids in other lands MAKE those shoes for a nickel a day...

Wow!
Now aren't YOU just something SOOOOOOOO special!

Sooooooo, if I'm understanding you correctly, I should learn to live like a loser and accept being a loser, like you? Forget my college education, the 25 years invested in building a career, the standard of living that I fought for and EARNED and go live in a 1 bedroom HUD hovel.

So, since you earn so little, you pay NO taxes AND receive earned income credit. But being the fair-minded patriot that you have painted yourself out to be, I am CERTAIN that you still contribute your 31% in taxes and forsake the EIC, right? No food stamps or state assistance either? What about for your children's medical? I smell a GIANT hypocrite amongst us and it isn't me!!!

A bit off-topic but I'm curious as to what you do about medical and dental care. Do your jobs provide coverage? Is a $12K a year job even minimum wage...or is it not full time?

Assuming the pay of $9800 you mention is after taxes, your rent and partial utilities come up to $6600, leaving about $266 a month or $66 dollars a week for food, toiletries, internet, clothing, insurances, school supplies, and so on for a family of 4? If you smoke a pack a day in most places, that's $5 a day but assuming you roll your own that's still at least $2 a day, which is $14 a week, leaving you $52 a week for all that other stuff I mentioned. I think I'm sensing some exaggeration here.

You get no assistance?

I see your point in a way, yet here in sancturary city most all those and Many other type jobs are taken by the criminal invaders.
It makes me furious to go somewhere and not be able to understand what the people are saying.
I asked a mc donalds manager why he hired illegals and he said that they are the only ones applying! Yeah Right!!!
I turned him in for health violations as around here it does no good to turn in illegal alien activity.

So if there were less criminal invaders there would be more jobs available to unemployed citizens ...

I wish Rand was more like his dad in some ways; we Need him to be.
He seems to be trying but is kind of disapointing to me although I haven't given up on him.

You don't pay taxes when you make as low of $$$ as I do.
The only tax I pay is sales tax at the store.

We do not use insurances for anything, its a scam and waste of money. Id' rather pay a 70$ ticket (if i ever get caught) for no car insurance than 100$ a month, it's a no brainer.

The only toiletry we have is toilet paper. My wife uses no cosmetics or anything.

My dental care plan :: We brush our teeth and floss.
My medical plan :: We take care of ourselves, and try our best to avoid disease by using pro-active strategy. Eat good, avoid toxic chemicals, etc.

Dental + Medical cost = 0 $
Insurance costs = 0 $

I smoke maybe 5-6 cigs a day recently.

You only think there is exaggeration because you live like a king.

I don't waste my precious $$$ on all of that crap. We are very conservative and live within our means.

I consider my life very good and I am very grateful for being blessed with everything I need. I thank God everyday for granting me such mercy.

So of course I am gonna criticize everyone else when they are so spoiled.

That one rich guy whos poor now said that living poor is "living like a loser". Wrong buddy.

Living like a loser is all in your Attitude. Has nothing to do with $$$.

I am living like a winner.

Does the Government bother me? No.
Do Corporations call me all the time? No.
Do bill collectors hound me? No.
Do I owe any debt? No.

Who lives the loser life??

Seems that some people don't mind living a third world lifestyle meanwhile your gov elites live in their fancy mansions, drive fancy cars, eat fancy foods, partake in fancy habbits all at your expense..

Amerika is doomed to fail with people that bend over and accept that kind of fate. What needs to happen is that pyramid with that all seeing eye has to be flipped upside down. The base of the pyramid is at the top.. representing the people and the all seeing eye is burried six feet under with the weight of the people burrying it even deeper.

Okay, so you have a car. Assuming you drive at least 30 miles a week that's about $5 a week for gas. That leaves you $47 dollars a week to feed a family of 4. That's about $6.70 a day or $1.67 a person a day. And you say you eat chicken and beef? Do you raise the chicken and beef yourself? Because if you do, you would have to feed it and make sure it was healthy...but I'm betting you don't.

And what happens if you do get ill? Or if you hit someone or cause damage with your car. Do you just let others pay for it? Yeah.

Generalizations may not include everyone, but I feel like the claims I have made include many, many people.

On the discussion of your car payments and mortgage...I do not know how old you are or your life story, but I am the type of person that does not believe in debt.

Sure, maybe on a NATIONAL level, a little debt is good for the economy to keep things circulating, but on a personal level, we need to have more responsibility in eliminating all debt we have.

I can understand a first car, maybe a cheap first home. College loans too if you have them. Your goal should be paying those off before all other things.

As I said - your GOAL. I can not believe people who move into houses expecting to pay it off in 30 years. THIRTY YEARS?!?! You are letting the bank rob you. Your goal should be 15 at the most. Maybe once that is paid off and you have extra cash, move into a new house.

And no - I do not have a car payment. I bought a POS car with no payment. Windows dont go down and A/C barely works. Hows that for summer? Well, at least it is paid off. No mortgage, but that is because I live at home with my parents (I am fairly young). Car insurance, cell phone, gas, food, yadda yadda. Working full time at a fast food and school is tiring, but it is something I need to do due to lack of cash from my parents and my own future.

People who splurge and are in debt have no respect from me on a financial level.

I am sorry you lost your job. It seems you have soaked yourself in debt.

Indeed. I've had to take a crappy job slinging coffee for 7 and a half bucks an hour. But I'm about to take a class on gunsmithing and try my luck in that field...I hear guns are booming these days.

Not all areas will be affected the same way.. But my area has a mix of what muzzleflash was talking about, and a general 'work force' that isn't willing to work much. We've always had this problem in my area, and now that the economy is in the toilet, the problem has become far worse.

There are more people here dependent on government handouts than people who are independent. Eventually my area will dry up and become one of the first modern "Ghost Cities".
