Ah right these pipes are on top of the top cap.

It appears they are giving it clean out.

Just viewed a report on the cap issue..

They said that the top was removed due to problems with the venting system, so as of now the leak is uncapped, awaiting maintenance on the removed cap.

Hmmm ... makes you wonder what that green stuff could be. Something very potent if it's gonna shift the crud out of the vents.

This would explain why the top cap has been moving about a lot lately. The pressure has been building up underneath and nowhere to go.

They pump hot water down into the cap to prevent methane hydrates from freezing and building it up. That green stuff is probably something they add to that water.

...Yes well with all due respect I have been reporting on the unstable top cap for a few days now. The other thread only started when the thing fell off.

But if mods want to close my thread go ahead.

or merge it

I wish I'd seen your thread when you opened it but with the huge number of threads and my work commitments on that day I missed it. Like you, I had noticed movement of the LMRP cap (but after you did, I think) and I was wondering even then if I should post about it.

I'm very grateful that you did: as far as I can see, your thread contains the very first reports of problems with that cap and so it should definitely be kept open. The evidence you have documented here is invaluable.

With respect,

Mike
